CXXVII. Never Again ✫ ✪ Bucky & Steve
You hold your breath when Sam parks the car in a empty lot in the Berlin airport. You can see another small car parked a few meters away, and the two figures inside nearly cause you to cry.
Steve. Bucky. You best friend and lover from long, long ago. You hadn't seen them since the war ended because you were frozen in another part of the arctic, a few miles away from where Steve crashed the plane you were both on.
You were only resurrected a few weeks ago, before the Civil War had started. Sam recruited you to be a part of Steve's side, to fight against the U.S. government and what they intended to do to people like you and your friends.
"How long has it been?" Sam asks.
Your eyes don't leave the little blue car as Steve and Bucky exit. "Seventy years."
You exit the car, giving Steve and Bucky a smile. They look at you with an expression of shock. Steve speaks first. "[Y/n]?" You name is a whisper on his lips, his eyes looking as if he's seen a ghost.
You give him a watery smile. "Yeah, Stevie. It's me."
Steve wastes no time. He crosses the room, gathering you in his arms. "I thought--I thought..."
"I was frozen, just like you," you reply, holding him tightly. "They found me a few weeks ago."
"Doll?"
You turn from Steve to Bucky, who's stepped out of the shadow of the car. His lip is quivering, blue eyes tearing up.
You rush to him, throwing yourself into his waiting arms. He wraps his metal arm around you hesitantly, afraid you'll disappear if he holds on too tightly. "Never let me go again," you cry, running a hand through his dark hair that's much longer than you remember.
None of that matters. All that matters is that you're reunited.
"Never again," he mutters, squeezing you to him. "I promise."
