CL. Rewrite The Stars ♛ T'Challa
Song | Rewrite The Stars from The Greatest Showman
--
"All I want is to fly with you.
All I want is to fall with you.
So just give me all of you.
It feels impossible.
Is it impossible?
Say that it's possible.
How do we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine?
Nothing can keep us apart.
'Cause you are the one I was meant to find.
It's up to you, and it's up to me.
No one can say what we get to be.
So why don't we rewrite the stars?
Changing the world could be ours."

The Princess of the Jabari and the King of Wakanda can never be together. That's what you told yourself over and over, especially when your brother M'Baku saw the two of you together in the capital city of Birnin Zana. He would tell you about your heritage, how the Jabari can't be seen with the royal family outside of peace talks.
You can be together. It's impossible. Everything keeps you apart: family, heritage, and physical separation. It doesn't matter that the two of you are star-crossed lovers, meant to be together. No one can rewrite the stars and change the world to be yours.
Or can you?
After one particular fight with M'Baku, you run away from Jabariland. Anger and sadness made your feet move faster, all the way to the royal palace. You made your way to T'Challa, in the place you knew he'd be: the memorial room dedicated to the kings and queens that came before him. Every Black Panther that lived.
T'Challa sees you in tears and runs to you. He gathers you into his arms, holding you tightly to him. "You know I want you; it's not a secret I try to hide. But it feels impossible," you told him after sharing the argument you had with your brother.
"I know you want me, just like I want you, and it's not impossible," T'Challa replies, shaking his head.
"You think it's easy?" you reply. "You think I don't want to run to you? But there are, quite literally, mountains between us. Here, in these walls, we can be just you and me, but outside? Outside we have both family and country keeping us away."
He cups your cheeks, wiping away your tears with a small smile. "Then we rewrite the stars."
You smile back, sniffling away your tears. "What do we do, T'Challa?" you ask softly, burying your head into his shoulder. "The Jabari and Wakandan royal family have never gotten along. They will hate us."
"It's not up to them," he replies assuredly. "It's up to you and me. No one can say what we get to be. You were the one I was meant to find. That is the end of it all. Who can stop us if we decide this is our destiny?"
You chuckle, wrapping your arms around his middle. "A Jabari princess and a Wakandan king...the Black Panther, no less. People will revolt."
T'Challa pulls your face up to his, kissing you softly. "Let them try. Tonight, the world is ours."
