Hello everyone, and welcome to 30 Days of Short Stories. You've just taken the first step to a new and exciting challenge.

What is 30 Days of Short Stories?

To get right to the point, this book is not a competition like Nanowrimo, the ONC, or the Wattys. It's a fun and exciting challenge that will help you grow as a writer, develop as a reader, and connect with the amazing Wattpad Community.

The goal of the challenge is to produce one short story for every day of June. Each day, I'll upload a new prompt at 8 a.m. EST. Your job, as the lovely writer, is to produce a piece of work between the time the prompt is uploaded to when the next prompt it posted (24 hours). The piece can be however short you want it, or however long you want it--assuming you're still within the guidelines of a short story (Technically, this is 7,500 words. If you want a short story that long, by all means go for it!). You can interpret the prompt however you like, and you can work with other authors as well, either on the same story or taking turns on prompts.

There are no forms to enter this challenge, simply tag your story #30daysofshortstories , add this book to your library for updates, and you're good to go! Of course, don't feel anxiety over the challenge. If you miss a story one day, it's not the end of the world. The main reason I'm creating this is because it's a fun way to grow as a writer while interacting with others in the Wattpad community.

Thrown into the prompts will be things to help with Dialogue and Descriptions--two parts of writing I believe many of us to struggle with. There will also be prompts to help develop your narrative voice, as well as assessing other author's narrative voices. Some examples of possible prompts:

- Make a story out of these three things: Taxi, old enemy, Valentine's Day

- Using famous lines from books, movies, and television shows, create a dialogue starting with this line: "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

- Describe a setting in first person. Now go back and describe that same setting in third person.

By the end of this challenge, you'll come out with not just a collection of short stories, but hopefully some amazing insight into your own style, as well as connections with other author's and readers.
