Day Six
Day 06 - Write 30 interesting facts about yourself.
1. I published my first story (a oneshot that I had written previous to finding Wattpad) on this site a year ago today. It was in my book I'm Totally Random and was called Killer Kiss. Looking back, I think it had a bit of promise but over all kinda sucked as a oneshot. The same day I posted two more stories, another one that was previously written (Flight of Fancy) and then one that I wrote that same day (Sweet Shina which quickly became a book).
2. I have an addiction to coffee and peanut butter cups.
3. I didn't learn how to do laundry until I moved away from home.
4. I enjoy playing Diablo 2 more than Diablo 3, even though Diablo 3 is an amazing game.
5. My first game system I played on growing up was an Atari that my brother got for his birthday when he was just a tiny little thing.
6. I love the technology available today, but I still miss the games that were on the Sega CD, because it is hard to find the Lunar: Eternal Blue and Lunar: The Silver Star games without paying a fortune and I used to have them both. Even today, I would have fun playing them if I could get my hands on them again, along with the system to play them on... One day... One day I will play them again!!
7. My favorite cereals are Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops and Honey Smacks, even though I know none of them are any good for me.
8. My favorite clothes to wear are blue jeans and whatever shirt I find that is clean and weather appropriate. But in Winter I tend to wear my black long-sleeved thermal top, because I don't like being very cold.
9. Nothing against the people that enjoy them, but celebrity fanfiction gives me the creeps. All I can think about is how I would feel if someone wrote fanfiction about me... Especially some of the stuff that is out there. I mean, seriously... How would you feel if someone wrote fanfiction about you pretty much kidnapping someone, killing people, raping them, etc? Nope... I'll just stick to the fake people fanfiction... I don't want to cross that boarder that stands between fiction and reality. I've seen what happens when someone's reality blends with their fictional worlds too much.
10. My blood type is O-, just like my mom's sister was.
11. My father died before I turned one, so I don't know much about him outside of the stuff I have been told by family members.
12. I was raised by my grandparents from the time I was a little over 4 years old. Because they were retired, me and my siblings got to go on road trips every summer.
13. When I first started writing on here, I was writing every single day and I loved it. Now I write every few days and I feel like I am not giving my stories enough attention, but I've learned to be okay with it, since I have to balance my writing and my life outside of writing.
14. I have been thinking on and off about taking a hiatus for at least a few weeks this summer and just writing as much as I can for each of my books, so that I can catch up on more of my requests without distractions. That way I can relax and not worry about leaving people waiting so much. On the downside, it would likely mean I would not be on much during that time frame, unless it was to simply rush on and post updates for some of my books. The downside of this is that I might burn myself out for a while writing that many oneshots and chapters all in one big, long go at writing. But then I could relax for a while as I let the oneshots be posted on an every other day rotation maybe? And I could start taking new requests at that point and start working on them as soon as I feel refreshed again.
15. I both love and hate having lots of requests. I love it because it gives me lots of characters to pick from, depending on which ones I feel most inspired for first. I hate it because it means I have that many people waiting for me to write their request. I think, once I finish the current load, I will be trying to keep the request list at or below 15 characters total. Likely that means I would only take up to 7 requests from each of the two sites I post on regularly, since that would put me at 14 for the top limit. Of course, if one site doesn't meet the goal, I can always close that site and offer them to the other site to finish filling, but I would have to think about that.
16. My eyes used to be pure blue, but as I grew up I started to notice other colors showing up. Now when I look in the mirror, they still have lots of blue but there is also tones of grey, brown and a little green in them.
17. When I was a kid, I didn't like getting my hair cut so I let it grow really long. In school I had to pull my hair out of the way so I wouldn't sit on it in class. One day I decided to stupidly tie my hair in a knot because I was too lazy to search for a hair tie (because I used to be stupid like that). When my grandma saw it, she got pissed and told me that it was time to get my hair cut. The choice was either go to the hair salon and get it cut or she would do it herself. And if she did it, it would be REALLY short.
18. The hair stylist pulled my hair into a pony tail (after it had all been brushed out at home before going) and cut it. She said she had never seen anything like it before. My hair went in rings of color, from platinum blonde on the outside to dark brown in the center of the pony tail, with strands of red and black scattered through the whole thing. I had pretty much every color present in my hair except grey, which would have been odd to find in a teenagers hair, of course. These days, my hair is just various shades of brown, because it started to darken after I got it cut.
19. I didn't have a boyfriend until I was 16 and we didn't go out on a date until we had been together for a few months already. Mostly, he just came over to the house and we would hang out together.
20. I went from loving pink as a kid to hating it when I was in high school, but now I don't really love or hate it. I'm pretty neutral with pink and will wear it from time to time without really caring.
21. I wouldn't be the writer I am today if it wasn't for the friends I have made on Wattpad, both early on in my time on here and the ones I have made just in the past few months. All of them have impacted me and my writing for the better and I get very inspired when I talk to them. I also love getting to support them in their own writing/drawing endeavors!
22. I often wonder why people spam follow others seeking a follow back from them. I mean, does it matter if someone follows you if it was simply a follow back? Does it really make a person feel popular just because they have lots of strangers who follow them, when in reality most of them only did it as a follow back and will likely never actually read your books? Me, I would rather have the handful of followers who actually chose to follow me for their own reasons, either because they are an actual friend or because they like my books. And THAT is why I will never just do a follow back, no matter if someone follows me first or asks me to follow them. I will only follow someone because I choose to do so. So, if you are one of the people I follow, cheers to you! It means that for one reason or another, I actually like you and/or your stories.
23. The downside is, if I follow you just for your stories and someday just remove them all without notice of whether you plan on republishing them or have made your account into a read only account, I will likely un-follow you unless you are someone I also follow for friendship reason. Sorry, but I don't want to be following someone who I never talk to and who never does anything but silently read others books. Nothing against you if you choose to do so, but also, at that point it shouldn't really matter if I follow you or not anyhow, right?
24. I've done things I regret doing in the past, but I also learned from them, so even if I could undo them I wouldn't because then I wouldn't be me anymore. I would be someone else. Maybe someone with a better life, maybe someone with a worse life, but I'm pretty happy with my life right now so I will just keep being myself and not spend my life wondering about all the what ifs out there. I hope many of you will also learn to live the life you have been given instead of spending it wondering about all the what ifs, until one day you realize that life has passed you by.
25. When I was little, I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up and save all the animals. Then one day, after I turned 16, I got a part-time job at an animal clinic across the street from where I grew up and I realized I would never be able to do it. Working around all those animals, seeing them suffering and hurt, made me realize I didn't have the stomach for it. Especially since on the weekends, the days that I worked, I was the first one in to see the animals, moving them into clean cages and sanitizing the ones they had been in. That means that often, I was the first one to see the animals that had passed away in the night. This happened 3 times while I worked there and each time it forced me to admit that this was not a job I could see myself doing in the future. On the up side, I had gotten to be friends with the veterinarian that owned the place and he invited me in to see a group of newborn puppies, just minutes after they had been born. It was a good job, but when the opportunity came along to give the job up to someone else who was taking classes to become a veterinarian, I let her have the job with a smile on my face and wishes of luck.
26. I'm related (distantly) to the McCoys of the Hatfield and McCoy fued. On my mom's side.
27. My grandfather was in the navy during WW2 and another war. He was awarded various medals and certificates during his lifetime. In my bedroom, I have his Distinguished Service Award framed and hanging. They help remind me of what a great man he was, that he was willing to risk his life to help save others and keep them from suffering more than they already had. If not for people like him, willing to fight against the force of another country that was being led by a horrible man, many more people (Jewish and otherwise) would have suffered and died. I'm proud he joined in the fight against Hitler. If not for him, not only would the Jews and other nations peoples have continued to suffer under Hitler, Germany would also have continued to suffer under him.
28. I was not raised as a Christian. I chose to become one of my own free will. I have made friends with people from many different faiths and people without faith. The one thing I feel for all of them is pride that we were all able to look past our beliefs and see each other as someone worth getting to know, sharing knowledge and compassion, smiles and laughter, teaching each other that life is so much more than what you believe. I am a Christian, but my faith does not blind me to friendships with others. As a Christian, I acknowledge that Jesus accepted even the man who would kill him into his company. How could I, then, deny a friendship simply because they do not believe the same as me? (Not that I ever did deny someone based on faith, since I always thought that would just be silly of me. I just think that this is a good way for other Christians to maybe look at it if they are wondering, but all the Christians I have found on here so far, have been pretty open minding and cool! But if you know any that are having trouble deciding if they should accept a friendship with someone based on that persons religion or anything else they are leery of, mention that to them. If Jesus can look past something as big as knowing that one of his people would end up causing his death and still let him stand beside him and walk his path with him, who are we to turn someone away over something that has even less impact upon our lives? They should at least try to come up with a legitimate reason. You know, something like "They killed my dog" or "They cheated on their {insert important relationship of choice}, who happens to be my sibling." Now THERE is a reason not to be friends with someone.)
29. I love doing craft related stuff. I've sewn stuffed animals and shirts, hemmed pant legs and waists, even fixed tears in pillows. I've made vases in pottery lessons and painted a mountain landscape once (even if it kinda sucked compared to some of the others in class) and wove a basket out of reeds in my art class back in high school. I like dabbling in various things and even can knit and crochet a little bit. I love arts and crafts! (But not as much as I love to write!)
30. The thought that people from across the world read some of my stories thrills me. Every so often I feel a pull to check the statistics of my stories and see the different countries that have someone reading my books. It always brings a smile to see anything outside of my own country highlighted in blue. I'm happy to have readers inside the US, but to have readers outside of it is just something I find exciting. So to anyone out there from outside of the US, you bring an extra big smile to my face. Thank you for reading!
