Chapter 3, Searching For Harry

Before we start, I'd like to make a brief statement about the loopholes I'm craving for the sake of the story, one being I'm pulling the resurrection card on Fred and pushing everyone in the HP universe back by one year to make it all fit together ok, with that said lets get started

Sally had waited till morning to call Petunia. She had felt that maybe calling her sister that lived on another continent five hours ahead best wait till morning when it was day for both. When morning had arrived she after completing her morning routine picked up the phone and dialed in Petunia's number which happened to be on the piece of paper with Maddie's.

Meanwhile in Private Drive, Petunia Dursley was going through a magazine and enjoying a cup of tea. Her husband Vernon was at work and would be picking her son Dudley up from his school Smeltings as today was his last day until next year. Everything was normal, but something just didn't feel right. The absence of a certain raven haired boy she'd grudgingly taken in what was it, fifteen years ago, was notable. She had some care for him, and by some she meant very little. But now, his absence was unnatural. Of course she had mistreated the boy, but he was always there, always consistent and now he was gone. He'd gone off permanently, to be with his kind. In a sense, she kind of missed him. But she'd at least have one thing now that she'd yearned for, a perfectly normal family and life.

Just then, the phone rang.

Now who could that be? She thought. Before it could ring anymore she picked it up.

"Hello? Is Petunia Dursley there?" said the voice, a voice she had not heard since Lily's death fifteen years ago.

"Sally?"

"Yes that's me, hello 'Tuny'. How's life been for you all these years?"

She slightly winced at hearing her sister's childhood nickname for her. Seriously, what child calls their sister after the fish?

"Fine I suppose, I'd like to know why you are contacting me?"

"That's right, I'd assume you'd ask that. Anyways, I was wondering if you knew anything about James and Harry?"

That was a peculiar question. Her sister asking about her brother in-law who died fifteen years ago and their son whom she'd most likely never see again. The reason she was even calling her about them in the first place was quite odd too.

"Um well, James died fifteen years ago and Harry is still alive and living with his girlfriend who attends the same boarding school as him."

"Oh ok... You wouldn't happen to have their address, I'd like to get in contact with him?"

"Why do you want to get in contact with Harry?"

"Well for starters, he is my nephew and I haven't seen him since he was a baby. Don't I have a right to see him and invite him over to my apartment!"

"Well I suppose you have a point, I'll contact him and let him know so he can come."

"So he's coming alone?"

"He has friends that might come with, I honestly wasn't too friendly with him and that's the most I can assume."

"Right, well I suppose they are old enough to come here on their own so they'll come in a few days?"

"I don't know how many days it will be till he comes, I'll send him the message ok."

"Thanks 'Tuny'. Bye!" said Sally and she hung up.

Again her sister used that nickname on her. She really didn't like it, and it brought back memories that she did not like either.

But now she had a task that she hadn't any idea how to do, contact the boy she decided she's have no contact with as of last summer. His school got out the day before Dudley's due to the long train ride back so she had no point in writing there. She decided to write a letter and place it where maybe it would just hopeful find itself to the boy. She pulled out a pen and paper and began to write the letter. Once it was done it read.

Dear Harry,

This is your Aunt Petunia. I know you probably would never have liked to hear from me again, but I'm writing this letter to you not of free will mind you. To make it short you have an aunt in America named Sally. She is requesting to see you for family matters. The address of her apartment is on the back of this letter.

Sincerely, Petunia Dursley

Since her letter was done she put it in and envelope and addressed it to Harry. Not knowing where exactly to place it she put it on the doorstep and went back into her house. Later an owl with human like intelligence saw the letter and picked it up and delivered it to The Burrow where Harry was staying.

Several Hours Later...

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny were all sitting in Ron's room in the Burrow. It had been several months since the Battle of Hogwarts. The battle had left Hogwarts in a state of disarray. Walls and such would have to be fixed along with re-doing the charms that protected the school from harm. And one could not forget the absence of a headmaster and DADA teacher. Ah the war and battle had left the school damaged so as a result it let out early and asked all students to come back next year when it had risen from the ashes, so to speak. In those few month's Harry had been staying at the Burrow as he was never going back to Private Drive. Along with Harry staying at the Burrow, other things had happened, him and Ginny becoming and official couple, Ron and Hermione becoming an official couple, and of course finding Hermione's parents and returning their memories. All in all, life was pretty good for Harry. Then the letter came.

Harry was used to getting letters in the normal was a wizard should so he wouldn't have thought of one that came that way as weird. Oh no it was who the letter was from that made him uneasy, his Aunt Petunia. The summer before when he had left, he swore he'd rid himself of that place for good and that meant cutting off all connections with the Dursley's period. And here he was holding a letter from one of them.

"What's wrong Harry? You seem off." said Ginny, her voice full of concern for her boyfriend. Last she saw him this confused and worried was back during the war. Something was definitely up with him.

Harry sighed.

"Well it's just, I got a letter from my aunt who id swore all connections off with!" exclaimed Harry. Ginny could tell from his tone of voice he did not like this aunt of his.

"Well, maybe you should read the letter and see what it's all about. After all she must have reason for sending you a letter if you'd swore off all connections with her." implied Ginny. By Merlin's beard that girl was good and she was right about one thing, Harry's aunt Petunia wouldn't send him a letter without good reason to.

Harry put his hands up in defeat.

"Fine I'll read it, I probably won't like it to be fair."

"Just read the bloody letter already!"

Harry took out the letter and read it. The letter read,

She was right about one thing, never wanting to see her again. Writing the letter not of free will was understandable. But the one thing that stood out to Harry the most was the mention of another aunt. This aunt of his had to of obviously been muggle seeing as there was no recollection of her in anything that had to do with his mother, and what was more was this aunt was asking to see him and she lived in America. This made him wonder, if he had an aunt in America why hadn't he heard of her before. Certainly if his aunt was a muggle his aunt Petunia would have spoken of her, so why hadn't he heard of her. Then he remembered that aunt Petunia rarely spoke of his mother either, so it was possible that she could be a witch or just someone Petunia didn't like. Yes that was it, Petunia simply hadn't liked this aunt of his. But if anything else was strange about the letter was the fact that she was asking to see him. So this aunt of his must've known about him, but why didn't she take him in instead.

"Well what does it say?" asked Ginny startling him. For a moment he'd forgotten she was even there.

"It's from my aunt Petunia all right, and she is apparently telling me I have an aunt who lives in America who'd like to see me. And this aunt before today I never knew existed."

"Hmm that definitely sounds peculiar and this aunt is from America? There's no American Ministry of Magic there either so I'd have reason to be suspicious. But by the looks of this letter, this aunt seems to be muggle. I don't know, I mean maybe this'll be good for you. Meeting some relatives that you might like better than the aunt who sent you that letter, I could tell by your tone that you didn't like her very much."

"But I can't just up and leave you guys here."

"I know, we can come along."

"What's this about leaving?" said Ron coming over from the other side of the room with Hermione following.

"Harry got a letter from his aunt saying he has an aunt in America who wants to see him and I was saying that maybe we should go with him just in case." said Ginny pretty much summing everything up.

"Harry is this true?" asked Hermione.

"According to this letter then yes."

"So you're really going?" asked Ron.

"Well, I guess so."

"Then we're coming with you." said Hermione gesturing to her, Ginny, and Ron.

"You know you guys don't have too."

"Come on Harry, this can be a time to get a break and relax. Besides haven't you ever wondered why there isn't an American Ministry of Magic, we should find out why. Can you imagine that?" said Hermione.

There was no stopping his friends and girlfriend from coming at this point. So they packed up some stuff in the bag Hermione had charmed for them when they'd went on their search for the horcruxes and spoke to Mrs. Weasly for permission to go. She gave them her permission and they said they'd apparate there in the morning with Ginny doing side-along apparition with Hermione. They had thought this was going to be a time to relax and meet some of Harry's relatives, oh how they were wrong!

-cat out!
