Chapter 15, Help Arives
After some time had passed, help had arrived in the form of Annabeth, Jazz, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny. Upon their arrival, they were met with an... interesting scene.
Percy was holding onto a tree as if his life depended on it. Harry had a mark on his forehead that suspiciously looked like the bottom of Percy's sneakers, and sat underneath the tree muttering something under his breath. Danny, who also had the mark just not on his forehead, just looked done with life.
For a few moments, they just stood there watching the group awkwardly. Until Ron decided to break the awkward silence.
"Um, what the bloody hell happened?"
As if one que, the three boys looked up at the group, and then at each other. From the looks of things they, in a pretty short amount of time, cane to the conclusion that Danny would explain things.
"Blame Harry."
Which only caused Harry to give Danny a look of betrayal.
"And what did he do?" asked Hermione raising her eyebrow.
"Some magic switching spell that apparently needed an adult's permission to do? Yeah, I'm still confused by it."
"That makes no sense." stated Ginny. "In our culture, a wizard or witch is considered an adult at the age of 17, which Harry happens to be. Why would he need the permission of the adult if he's already considered one?"
Danny shrugged in response.
"Plot hole?"
"Danny, this is real life." responded Jazz. "There are no plot holes in real life."
"Who knows, this could all be a fictional story written by a teenager who should've written more sooner."
Everyone just looked at Danny with expressions that read, what the heck did you just say.
"What? You never know, it could just be true."
"Existential crisis aside, can you tell us what happened and why you needed help." replied Annabeth.
"Harry used a switching spell, which he probably found in some plot hole of a book, and asked Percy to give him permission to use it and everything was going fine until somehow Harry, temporarily, became the most powerful wizard alive and the spell backfired onto us... switching our powers. And nobody correct me on that probably run on sentence, you wanted an explanation and I gave it to you, so please don't kill me for bad grammar."
More silence occurred. Until Jazz broke it.
"So, considering you said that the spell switched your powers, you all have each other's powers. Am I correct?"
"Yes."
"And the spell was only able to work because Harry, temporarily, became really powerful?"
"Well he could use the spell before, but yeah."
"Ok... So, who has which power?"
"Percy has mine, which is why he's holding onto the tree. Harry has Percy's, and I have Harry's."
Jazz took a few moments to take everything in, then her expression became confused and she said:
"I know very little when it comes to wizard spells, but this makes no sense. How did Harry find this book with such a powerful spell? Why was the spell available in the first place? And how did Harry get powerful enough to cast that spell?"
"Augh!"
Everybody turned to look at the source of the voice, which was Percy who's upper body had gone see-through and had gone through the tree onto his somehow still normal colored head which was on the ground.
"Somebody, I don't care who at this point, help."
"Uh... let's put this discussion on hold and help him get back up." said Annabeth looking at her annoyed boyfriend.
"Good call." replied Ginny.
After another struggle of helping Percy get up, shorter now because of the amount of people present, they continued their conversation.
"Danny, I swear your power's are against me."
"I had the same problem too, just hold on until we can get this sorted out." replied Danny.
"Speaking of that, how long is this spell going to last? How long do spells usually last?" asked Jazz. "It would be good to know how long you'll have to deal with this."
"It depends really. Some spells end the moment you stop casting them, others will take a little longer to disappear. There are a few though that are permanent, though those are usually the hardest to cast." replied Hermione.
"That's good, but how can you tell? The spell obviously hasn't worn off so it can't be the first kind you mentioned. That only leaves the other two, which right now, seem pretty hard to tell apart."
"So we could be stuck like this?" asked Percy, who was holding onto Annabeth and the tree.
"Theoretically, yes-"
Percy squeezed Annabeth's hand a little tighter.
"- but, that would only be if the spell was permanent." explained Hermione.
"I hope it isn't."
Everyone looked at Ron, who had been surprisingly quiet for the entire conversation.
"Harry, Percy, and Danny, they don't look happy about this, if anything they look uncomfortable. I know Harry more, but Percy and Danny probably feel the same. Their powers: Harry's magic, Percy's demigod powers, and Danny's ghost powers. They're only powers, but they're a part of them, and hearing that they might be stuck without them isn't exactly uplifting. I would feel the same if I was in any of their places."
Help had arrived, but did it really mean anything anymore? After all, it's hard to undo something meant to be permanent. Then again, was it permanent?
Hi, hope you guys liked it? Next chapter, as well as edits will be up when they're done and when I have time. Hopefully I'll update again in 2018, and not have to wait until 2020, but you'll just have to wait and see.
