"Took you long enough!" Cyclone chirps, opening the door ajar to let the drenched teen into their warm home. Solar grunts in reply, making himself comfortable by the fireplace, as the blue-orbed boy skips to his side. "What happened?"
"What do you mean?" He replies, brain fuzzled from the events that took place, just a few hours ago. Blaze had left him in the rain, soaking wet and alone, not knowing where to go. "Oh, you mean him?"
Now Cyclone was more confused. "Him, who?"
Guess he doesn't know. Solar smiles slightly and shakes his head, pushing his slick hair out of his eyes. "Nevermind what I said. Where's Thorn?"
"Dunno." The Fifth Wonder replies, crouching, a hand on his cheek and the other extended to feel the radiating heat off the fire. "He probably went to Blaze's workshop or something. He said he's working on something."
"Working?" Mouth agape, his jaw almost slacked to the floor. "Doesn't Thorn hate doing work? All he does all day is play Animal Crossing and complain!"
Cyclone shrugs, "Ice was the one who dragged him in there. They have some supernatural business together, so I don't know much about it. Shouldn't you be the one asking him?"
"Right." Solar's mouth became dry. "Later, then."
"I'm going for a round of practice," The apparition stood up, dusting himself off. "It's with my brother. Wanna come? You don't have to join, of course!"
"I think it might be time I learn some self-defense."
"Great!" Cyclone beams, his smile gleaming like a thousand stars in the sky, all directed at Solar. "I'll teach you!"
In Blaze's workshop, the Wonder duo had their protective gear on. Thorn was positioned to the left, Ice on the right. Blaze had stormed into the room before, only to see the Sixth Wonder being present there and walked right out without context.
"That guy's having his manly period." Ice snorts, finding the human's behavior amusing. Before them was a large creature, encaged and trembling.
Thorn puckers his lips, gloves slipping right off. "Are you sure that this is gonna contain it? It looks dangerous to me, polar bear. What if it breaks out?"
There's a hum, coming from them both. Thoughts.
"I doubt that it would escape. There's no reason to, and it's being held in Blaze's territory. You know how hot it gets in here." The Third Wonder fans himself. "Even after disabling the heat, it's burning here."
"That's because you're always cooped up in at least 3 layers of sweaters, you Santa wannabe." The latter retorts.
Ice clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth, "Right."
Previously, Thorn and Ice had found a way to extract the demon captured within the leader's spiritual body. Using his skills, Ice quickly generated a cell that would contain the demon, in hopes of enlocking its deadly abilities. He had frosted the sides of the cage with seals, too.
Just in case, Thunder had slapped 7 of them onto the palm of Ice's hand, ignoring the other, I don't want no spirit asses running around free here.
Neither do I, Thorn added, but he was punched away.
"I can't believe this guy was in Solar's body." He says, stepping back to admire the ugly blob of ink entrapped in the transparent, cylinder compartment.
Yellow, orange irises glowered at them, as if trying to threaten. The Sixth Wonder playfully sticks his tongue out, blowing raspberries. "Yeah, I agree." He responds after a while. "It's hideous."
"My first thoughts exactly." Ice plops onto the couch. "What are we going to do with it, though?"
"This is what they're after, in the black market. We could abuse it's powers, and then sell it, maybe?" Ice's horrid expression rejected the idea immidiately. "Or not. But it is super useful to us."
"Does Solar know about this thing living in him?"
"Of course he does." Thorn casually says, "It's the secret he's afraid to tell people. With this.. this irrelevant blobfish thing out of him, he's just a regular guy."
"As your yorishiro." Ice adds, rubbing his forehead.
The Sixth Wonder nods curtly, "Obviously! Now I'll ask the same question to you. Does Blaze know about the demon that's been manifesting in him?"
He grins at the silent answer. "I'll take that as a no."
"Yes, actually. Blaze knew a long time ago."
"Oh?" Thorn lifts up from his seat, gone in the blink of an eye and reappearing behind Ice, who didn't show the slightest surprise at the all-too familiar move. "That's interesting! Then why didn't you do the same thing?"
Ice looks over his shoulder, lips straight. "Because it's not a different being in him, you swine. Why do you think Blaze was outcasted from his exorcist family?"
"Ah." Green eyes widen in mischief, "I've always wondered."
"Now you know. Blaze isn't normal. As much as I've trained him in the past, he wouldn't be able to contain his human side any longer. His parents," He gently lowers his voice, "Had an unwanted affair."
"I feel like I'm parading into someone's privacy."
"I'm telling you this because you won't tell anyone else." Ice flinches away from Thorn's dark aura. "Even if you did, who would hear you? Just us, the Seven Wonders. Maybe some other spirits, but that won't change a single thing in history."
"But it might change their perception for Blaze. Don't you think that it might be better kept secret?"
The blue-eyed apparition purses his lips. "No. He's been hiding this from people too long. Plus, he's going to die soon if he doesn't accept his fate."
"What do you mean?" Thorn blinks twice.
"As someone who grew up with the idealism to get rid of the supernatural, it would be hard on him to accept the fact that he's not human. If Blaze doesn't stop resisting his true nature.."
"Then he's going to die as a supernatural?"
Ice nods. "Forever. All he need to do is to let the demon in him bond with his mind. After all these years, he's finally reached the plateau point. I can't tolerate it anymore."
Thorn sighs, shaking his head. "This is a sad story."
"Not really." The Third Wonder scratches the nape of his neck. "If someone gives him a little push off the edge, then it would be an easy job."
"And what happens if he does?"
Ice grins, raising his head slightly, blue orbs glowing dark underneath his bangs. "Then he could finally be a Wonder on his own, without my help or assistance."
