After A Restless Night: Rainy Summer
When it rains,
It pours,
And my heart
It soars
When August clouds
Let down a storm
And you are
By my
Side.
So it
Goes
And so it
Rains
Again.
I think back
To it,
Now and again
How our
Rainy summer began,
That left us cold
Instead of
Tan,
But not
unpleasantly.
So it
Goes
And so it
Rains
Again.
April showered,
Instead of flowers
In May
It poured,
Soon June was
Knocking at
The door,
But still we
Only saw
More and more
Of stormy summer
Skies.
So it
Goes
And so it
Rains
Again.
I remember once
You asked
Me why
The storms
Had lasted
Into July,
And I smiled
And peered
Up at
The sky
And said,
"To keep us rained in."
So it
Goes
And so it
Rains
Again.
I always
Liked this kind
Of weather,
But I would
Love it so
Much better
If we could
Brave the
Storm together
At least, for a short
Time.
So it
Goes
And so it
Rains
Again.
So share
With me this
Rainy summer,
As my
Friend or as
My lover,
And in
The cover
Of your
Old Hummer,
We'll watch the clouds
Downpour.
So it
Goes
And so it
Rains
Again.

Inspired by all the rain we've been having this summer where I live. The picture above is a quick sketch I did at work (which is where I wrote this poem...I work at a pool) that I thought was appropriate...sorry for the weird paper though...
