Marks
I just sat there listening. I could hear the sirens and the police opening the door to my house. They called my name.
"Taylor! It's the police!"
I wanted to respond but, the ability to speak has left me. I just sat waiting.
"Oh my god! What could have done this?"
"Taylor! Answer us now!"
I got up out of my seat and opened my door. I fell to my knees, I saw something written in the wall. It wasn't ink...blood.
I will get you next time TAYLOR!
The handwriting was nearly impossible to read but, what really got me what was laying on the floor under the writing.
"Dad?" I muttered under my breath.
I saw his body laying on the floor. I cleared my throat.
"Dad," no answer.
"Dad!" He wasn't responsive.
I then saw that he was missing something. Missing something important...his head. I crawled over to him. I placed my hands on him. He was so cold.
"Dad no!" I started to bang my hands on my body. I felt the police mans hand on my arm. He pulled me off the floor.
"You need to tell us what happened. Are you able to do that for us?"
"I don't know it covered the peeking hole to my door, I couldn't see anything. I could only hear it."
"Well don't worry we'll be setting up security cameras around your house. Normally we don't do that but, normally this kind of thing doesn't happen."
His hand pointed to the door and I saw what the monster has done to my door.
Large black marks were going down my door. If it scratches one more time it would have seen me. The marks were in the shape of hands.
I counted the claw marks.
One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
Ten
Ten fingers in total. Was this an actual monster? What could have done possibly done this?
I shook my body out of the officers firm grasp. I walked slowly to the door. I felt tiny little wood chips pierce my bare feet.
I placed my hand on the marks and slid my fingers down carefully, trying to not break the door. I felt the doors indents go deep into the wood.
"Stop doing that! It's evidence!"
I turned my head to the officer, I suppose he's right. After he told me to stop I looked at my fingers. Black dust was covered over them. The nails were so brittle and sharp.
"Does this help?" I showed him the black dust on my hand. His eyes lit up, making me assume that I did something good.
"Yes!" He then placed the dust into a baggy and he told me that I should leave the house.
"But, my dad?"
"We can't do anything for him," he said sadly.
I was pushed out of the house and onto the front porch. I sat down right there waiting. I was still dazed nothing was really clicking in I just felt lost and confused.
Mom later showed up at the porch crying. I knew that she knew what happened.
"I'm sorry mom, I didn't hear his screams or anything."
"Honey it's all going to be all right," mom wasn't calm anymore she seemed like she was going to break down.
"Mom?"
"Yes Taylor?"
"I don't think that thing was human."
"What?"
I actually saw something when I looked through the door. It was a very quick flash that I thought was nothing. However now I don't think it was just nothing.
"I was able to see something fast go across the door. It was too monstrous to be a normal looking person. When it left I heard the alarm clock get smashed in my room and as you know I was alone."
"Like a ghost? What did it look like?" My mom was interested in what I had to say.
"I don't really know know yet and a ghost couldn't have done this!"
My mother hugged me. She placed her mouth to my ear and I heard her whisper to me something.
"I believe you"
I can't really explain why but, that sent shivers up my spine. Did my mom know something I didn't?
