I've always wanted to help someone or others in a job that gives the opportunity to connect on a one-on-one level. So, inspired by Law & Order Special Victims Unit, in 8th grade, I was all about city life (even when I hated urban-living) because that's where the job was.

Then I wanted to go into the military in 9th-10th grade. However, the SEALS weren't open to females then, and I was forced to move on. But, in the end, it doesn't matter because I value family over my career. One day I hope to have kids and a husband, and I know that law enforcement/military are high-risk careers that can entail missing half of my kid's life because I'm on the job or fighting frontlines overseas. The prospect of not knowing if I'll return to them and (God willing) a man...I couldn't.
