"So tell me, how does this thing fly?" Sirius asks for the hundredth time while stepping in line.

Remus doesn't answer and hands his plane ticket to the lady. After hearing that Sirius had never left the UK, he orchestrated a trip to the United States. You would think, being a wizard and all, that Sirius wouldn't question the logistics of an airplane. But you would be wrong. Very wrong.

"Are you sure this is safe? What if we fall into the ocean? How would we swim back to shore?"

"Sirius you drive a," Remus lowers his voice so nobody can hear, "flying motorcycle."

"Yes, but I'm driving it. I don't even know who's in charge of this air-o-plane thing. How can we trust 'em?"

"Love you're worrying too much. I promise we'll land safely in New York in no time."

Sirius grunts, trudging behind Remus towards the security lines. "What even is in New York? And why is it new? Is there an Old York? How many states even are there?"

Remus rubs his eyes tirelessly, kicking off his shoes and placing them into a bin. Traveling with Sirius is much like traveling with a child. It would all be worth it in the end, though. Remus had it all planned out. They would take the Maid of Mist tour of Niagara Falls, have a fancy dinner together all dressed up, and then he would finally pop the question in Central Park. The itinerary replays through his mind as he steps through the metal scanners.

Loud sirens go off along with flashing lights, alerting everybody in the airport. Sirius jumps at the sound and whirls around to see Remus being taken by officers.

Remus' face is horror stricken as he stands like a starfish. "Oi!" he yelps when two security guards pat him down rather thoroughly.

Sirius slaps a hand over his mouth to muffle his laughter, quickly grabbing Remus' camera from the conveyor belt bin to take a photo.

"Sir," one of the officers states firmly. He pulls out the ring box in Remus' pocket and opens it.

"NO!" Remus shouts, instinctively lunging for the box.

Four guards jump onto Remus and tackle him to the ground.

"AGH," Remus grunts, "I didn't know it was in my pocket still! Please, officer."

The officer glances over to Sirius who is trying to shuffle dance with his socks on in line. "Alright boys he's clear." He offers a hand to Remus and straightens out his shirt. "Here." He hands the ring box over and smiles. "Good luck."

Remus huffs, taking the box and shoving it back into his pocket. "Thank you."

After the airport fiasco, things seemed to be looking up. Sirius fell asleep on the plane after only an hour, giving Remus a well needed break from the incessant questions. The landing was rather scary for him, however, and awoke him with the belief they were falling from the sky.

Since then, everything was going well, in fact. The Maid of Mist tour was splendid. Dinner was scrumptious. Even the rain couldn't put a damper on their day.

"I like New York," Sirius says. "Peter would too. There are so many rats running around." Remus lets out a howl like laugh at the idea. They head towards the street, hand in hand, coming to the end of their date. "I've always wanted to do this. I saw it in a movie once." Sirius steps onto the street, putting two fingers to his mouth, and whistles. "OI! TAXI!"

Nothing.

"It was a good try," Remus chuckles. "Listen, there's something else I wanted to do while we're here."

"What is it?"

Remus grabs both of Sirius' hands and blushes with excitement. "We're always going on new adventures." Sirius nods. "I know that whenever we're together we will always have fun. So -"

Remus reaches into his pocket when a yellow cab pulls up right up against the curb, sending a wave of brown, murky street water over the pair like a waterfall. Remus jumps away in disgust, absolutely drenched. Sirius wipes his eyes, flicking away the mud from his face. He bursts into laughter, unlike Remus who is frozen in shock.

"That was so cool!" Sirius exclaims jumping up and down.

Remus spits out the water from his mouth. "That was absolutely the most horrendous thing I have ever -"

Sirius opens the door of the taxi and yanks Remus inside behind him. "Come on! I wanna see if he'll yell out the window in traffic!"

Remus groans, sitting down with an uncomfortable squish. "Bloody fucking taxi..." he grumbles.

"What were you saying?" Sirius asks, grabbing Remus' hand on the seat. "About adventures?"

Remus stumbles over his words, unable to think clearly. "Um - I was just going to...we should see Times Square tomorrow."
