Day Twenty-Four: Sinsmas Eve (Hazbin Hotel)

Snow fell softly over the streets outside the Hazbin Hotel, a rare and mysterious sight in Hell. Though it wasn't cold, the illusion of winter added to the festive air inside. The grand lobby of the hotel glowed with the warm light of stringed fairy lights, while garlands of holly and ornaments dangled from every surface. A towering Christmas tree stood proudly in the center of the room, its pine scent mingling with the aroma of cinnamon and freshly baked cookies. Kara Melody stood on a chair near the tree, clipboard in hand, orchestrating the evening.

"Alright, everyone!" she called out over the din. "We've got a lot of traditions to get through tonight, so let's keep things moving!"

Angel Dust was sprawled on one of the sofas, his arms crossed as he watched the commotion with mild disinterest. "Traditions? I thought the only tradition around here was chaos," he muttered, earning a sharp elbow from his twin sister, Molly.

"Oh, quit being a Grinch," she teased, tossing a pillow at him. "You're just mad you didn't think of an excuse to skip this."

Victoria smirked as she settled into the armchair beside them. "Come on, Angel. You're not fooling anyone. I saw you sneaking cookies earlier."

Across the room, Arackniss adjusted the tiny Santa hat perched on his son Jackie's head. The young spider demon was clinging tightly to Sir Pentious's leg, excitedly pointing at the decorations. "Careful, darling, you'll crumple his outfit," Pentious warned, gently prying Jackie off. "We worked very hard to coordinate tonight!"

"Let the kid have some fun," Arackniss muttered, though he adjusted Jackie's hat again.

"Now, now," Henroin interjected, his deep voice carrying over the chatter. "Let's not start bickering. It's Sinsmas Eve, after all."

The room quieted as Kara clapped her hands. "First up, we're decorating the tree!"

The massive tree stood nearly ten feet tall, its lush green branches waiting to be adorned. Charlie handed out ornaments to everyone, ensuring that each guest added something meaningful. Henroin stepped forward first, hanging a delicate snowflake ornament near the top. "This one's been in our family for years," he said, smiling softly as Molly and Angel nodded in recognition.

Arackniss and Pentious worked together to set up a miniature train set around the tree's base. Jackie squealed with delight as the tiny train began chugging along the track.

"Don't touch it!" Pentious warned as Jackie reached for the train.

"But it's so cool!" Jackie protested, his wide eyes sparkling.

Angel and Molly added matching pink-and-white baubles with their initials. "Perfect," Molly said, stepping back to admire their handiwork. "It's obnoxious, just like us."

Nearby, Kara and Aasha carefully hung handmade ornaments shaped like musical notes, while Alastor placed a vintage radio microphone ornament near the top.

Niffty buzzed around the tree, obsessively tweaking the placement of the tinsel. "It's not symmetrical!" she chirped, darting from branch to branch.

Vaggie sighed, stepping in to guide Niffty gently away. "It's fine, Niffty. Just... let it be."

Finally, Lucifer entered the room, commanding attention with his presence. He floated to the top of the tree, placing a glowing star atop it. "A fitting centerpiece," he declared with a grin.

Dinner was a grand affair, with dishes from each family's traditions spread across a long table. Henroin's hearty lasagna sat next to Arackniss and Pentious's unusual but delicious eel-and-stuffing dish. Kara contributed a plate of cookies shaped like musical instruments, and Aasha brought a spicy curry that left some of the demons sweating but impressed. Vaggie and Charlie brought tamales, a favorite from Vaggie's mortal life, while Niffty proudly displayed a Jell-O mold that wobbled precariously every time someone walked past.

Monty arrived late, claiming he had to "perfect the Irish touch" to his contribution: a whiskey-infused bread pudding topped with Lucky Charms cereal. "Sinsmas is about indulgence, after all," he declared, earning chuckles from everyone.

Angel piled his plate high, prompting Molly to smirk. "Some things never change," she teased.

"Hey, I'm making up for all those crappy Christmases we had," Angel replied his tone light but sincere.

Across the table, Jackie was trying to sneak more marshmallows from the hot chocolate bar when Arackniss caught him. "Jackie, no more sugar!" he scolded, though his voice lacked real conviction.

After the feast, everyone gathered around the tree to exchange gifts. Alastor handed Charlie a set of rare records, earning a squeal of delight. "Thank you, Alastor!" she said, hugging him tightly.

Angel surprised Jackie with a stuffed spider toy, which the young demon hugged tightly. Pentious presented Arackniss with a handcrafted pocket watch. Arackniss's stoic demeanor softened as he murmured, "Thanks, Pentious. It's... nice."

Kara distributed music boxes to everyone, each playing a tune tailored to its recipient. Angel's played a jazzy melody, while Alastor's played an eerie, vintage waltz. Monty, not one to be outdone, handed Lucifer a bottle of aged whiskey in a box adorned with Celtic knots. "For old times' sake," Monty quipped, earning an approving nod from Lucifer.

Even Niffty joined in, presenting everyone with hand-sewn stockings, each personalized with intricate embroidery. As the night wound down, the group gathered around the fireplace. Charlie passed around mugs of Kara's famous hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream and festive sprinkles. Angel hesitated when it was his turn to share a memory but eventually spoke. "I always hated Christmas growing up," he admitted, staring into his mug. "But... tonight's been nice. Real nice. Thanks for that."

Molly leaned her head against his shoulder, while Henroin placed a comforting hand on his son's back. "We've got each other now," Henroin said. "That's all that matters."

Lucifer stood, raising his glass. "To family, however unconventional it may be," he said, his voice warm but commanding. "May this Sinsmas Eve remind us that even in Hell, light can shine."

As the clock struck midnight, the room was filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of hope that even Hell couldn't extinguish.
