The Final Twenty-Four | 29

Do you guys like the new cover? And do you like my new cover theme? Black and white is my signature but I've thought about changing it.

Also, a lot of you have asked me to write a sequel to "Exposed". Hmm, interesting but what should the sequel be about? And should I use the same characters or bring in new ones?

Didn't think that "Exposed" would win the best Eazy-E fanfic and best NWA fanfic awards and didn't think you guys would like it so much. A sequel sounds nice but don't bet on it.

This story is almost over because I still want to make it a 40 chapter book. The Wizard of OZ is on deck.

And this is MY version of The Wizard of OZ and it will be an alternate universe story so I will do a lot of editing.

Last but not least: shoutout to my undercover fans lol and a big majority of them are writers. The ones who call themselves throwing shade but can't throw shade for shit lol I caught another writer silently reading "Exposed" cuz she dropped a few comments but no votes.

I call them undercover fans cuz thats what they are. They've read ALL of my books and then some lol and I'm sure they're reading this cuz I know they have this book in their library.

Well, I did win the writer who throws the most shade award; oh and they wont come at me so I have no worries lol

Anyway, I love my active readers and supporters. Because of you, I keep slaying the fanfic awards. I've been inducted in the Hall of Fame at least 12 times so thank you ✨

|Recap|

A week after our pre-proposal, we arrived back in Los Angeles.

Even though it wasn't a real proposal, it felt like one. Vegas is amazing and it was the perfect city for Eric and I to express our love for each other.

After a long day of working two jobs, I finally made it home.. ready to hit the sack.

Just when things are going so well for me...

"If you want Eric to live a few more years, I want you to do something for me."

Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale

[A/N: the same cemetery Eazy is buried in real life]

I decided to pay Lucky a visit today. Well, pay his grave a visit. I don't remember much about his death. All I know is, he was like a big brother to Scooter and I.

I showered his grave with a big majority of his favorite flowers. It's been two years, and it honestly doesn't feel like it's been that long. It feels like he's still here with us.

"You always looked out for me bro," I mumbled.

I kneeled in front of his tombstone and wiped off dirt and extra grass. Everything is a blur. I can't remember what happened to him.

I shedded a few tears. I'm not the type to cry but this is my friend. Never thought I would say these words but, Lucky is gone. Looking down on his grave feels like a dream.. a nightmare.

Ever since I pre-proposed to Tomica, she's been acting different. I mean, really different.

I thought she enjoyed Vegas. It was a surprise and it was the perfect city for me to give her a promise ring; simply because I'm not ready for engagement right now.

But, she hasn't been acting like herself these past couple of days.

As far as N.W.A., we finally released "Niggaz4Life" last year in May.

Dre is still serious about leaving the group and starting his own label with Suge Knight. He wants out of his contract but it's not happening, not anytime soon.

And, I have been thinking a lot about going back to church. I can't remember the last time I've been because I'm not the church going type, but it's worth a try.

I felt my pager vibrate, and it's from Tracy.

She had my baby two years ago, and that's exactly what I need. Eighteen more years with with my delusional ass ex. She wants to know if I'm interested in meeting the rest of her family for the sake of Erin.

Absolutely the fuck not.

New City Church Los Angeles

"Tomica you look so beautiful today. As always."

"Thank you Sister Patterson," she smiled. She hasn't said a word to me all morning. She's been so distant and I don't know why.

Maybe she's still mad at me for having a baby by Tracy. We've already talked about it once and she said that she's okay with it.

Tracy and I are done. But we have to have some sort of relationship for E.B, and that's it.

"Are you okay? Can we talk?" I questioned.

As usual, she ignored me. I decided to come to church this morning for her. It's never too late to turn my life around.

"Eric just sit down and enjoy the service okay."

"Amen," we said in unison while Pastor James continued to preach.

"How are you today Miss Woods? You look
so beautiful as always. And is this your boyfriend?"

"Thank you. And yes, this is Eric."

"Nice to meet you Eric. You are a very handsome young man," she smiled.

"Thank you."

"Encourage your faith by using what Paul said. He says 'and let us not grow weary in well doing.' He said 'for in due season you shall reap if you faint not," said Pastor James.

He continued." What I'm trying to tell you is that our mighty God is faithful. And in his faithfulness he reminds us that in doing good, you shall get weary. You know what? There's no sin in getting weary. The sin is giving up."

"Amen!"

"You're so close to your blessing. The blessing that God has in store for you and only you. There's about to be a manifestation of God in your life and now is not the time to throw in the towel and faint, or give up. You need to lift up your head and hold on because something's about to happen in your life and God's gonna ensure it."

"Amen," I said to myself.

"It's okay to feel like you're about faint. That's how you know you're so close to your reward for walking righteous. Church you better hear this, I'm telling you something. When you feel like you're about to give up and faint, don't faint. Because you're so close to your miracle and blessing. I'm talking to those that walked into this church today that are about to give up and lose faith in God. I'm encouraging you, keep the faith. Stay right there, hold on. God has a plan for you."

"Yeah!" the choir cheered.

"And you need to give him praise, you need to bless his name. You need to tell him 'I'm still holding on Lord. I wont give up on you because you wont give up on me.' God bless you New City Church."

We applauded and cheered. A few members even threw roses on the stand. I looked over
at Tomica, and she gave him a standing ovation.

So this is what I've missed out on all these years, church. My life is in shambles right now and this is exactly what I needed.

"Before we end the morning service, we have little Miss Nicole Jenkins, a twelve year old, here today who wants to get baptized. Now tell the entire church why," he smiled before handing her the microphone.

"Because I love the Lord," she said which caused the choir and audience to cheer and applaud.

After a few prayers and a performance from the choir, it was time for her baptism.

"She looks so nervous. I remember when I got baptized at her age," said one of the ushers.

"I baptize you in Jesus name for the remission of your sins. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

After church, I figured I could give her another driving lesson because it's been two years and she still can't drive.

"Do you want to drive home? Get in the driver's seat. Today is a great day to teach you how to drive," I laughed.

She buckled her seatbelt without saying a word. Then started the ignition before adjusting the mirrors and driving off.

"Am I missing something? What's wrong?"

"Can we listen to some music?"

I chuckled. "Oh so now you want to talk? What's up with you? You barely said a word to me today in church and ever since I gave you a promise ring, you haven't been the same. So what's going on with you? What's wrong?"

"There's nothing wrong," she muttered before stopping at a stop sign.

"Oh something is definitely wrong. So tell me Tomica, do you want to take that fucking ring off?" I spat.

"I don't want to talk about it."

"No. Why are you acting shady? We haven't smoked weed in bed together in days. Something is bothering you."

"Drop it."

"I'm getting sick of this," I muttered while checking my pager.

"Well that makes two of us."

"So you don't want to talk about this? You don't want to talk about why you're acting like you're on your period?"

She sighed. "Eric there's nothing wrong with me and I'm not on my period. I'm just not in the mood. So drop it and show me some damn respect."

"What the hell is wrong with you? What's bothering you?"

"You're what's bothering me!"

"Is this about Tracy giving birth to Erin? I thought we already talked about it. Do you want to have my baby? You wanna have my baby? Is that what it is?"

"You got some fucking nerve Eric," she spat.

I turned on the radio, just to get my head together. Yeah.. she still can't get over the fact that Tracy had E.B.

"So tonight, gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf and just enjoy yourself. Groove, let the madness in the music get to you. Life ain't so bad at all, if you live it off the wall."

"Make a left here. And make sure you're using these rearview mirrors."

She smiled. "Okay. I know how to drive but thanks though."

In the middle of "Off the Wall" by Michael Jackson, she quickly changes the channel just to be petty I guess.

"I was listening to that."

"Oopsies."

"Dream if you can a courtyard. An ocean of violets in bloom. Animals strike curious poses. They feel the heat. The heat between me and you.

How can you just leave me standing? Alone in a world that's so cold. Maybe I'm just too demanding. Maybe I'm just like my father too bold. Maybe you're just like my mother. She's never satisfied. Why do we scream at each other. This is what it sounds like when doves cry."

"See these people right here? They're called jaywalkers."

She stopped at a red light. "Yeah and they don't have the right-a-way. I studied my ass off and I'm ready to take my driving test."

"Give me a kiss."

"No thanks."

I smirked and changed the channel.

"So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf. And just enjoy yourself. Come on and groove yeah, let the madness in the music get to you. Life ain't so bad at all if you live it off the wall."

"You're trying to be funny huh?" she chuckled before changing it back to Prince.

"How can you just leave me standing? Alone in a world that's so cold? Maybe I'm just too demanding. Maybe I'm just like my father too bold."

"Nah. We're not about to play this," I switched it again.

Later that night, I kept my eyes glued on the news, trying to keep up with the Rodney King beating.

I remember when we released "Fuck Tha Police" and we received a lot of hate because of it. It was even banned and we received threats from the F.B.I.

But, it took a man getting the shit beat out of him for everybody to scream "fuck the police."

"They just let them people do whatever the hell they want to do," I mumbled.

"Here," Tomica muttered while passing the phone to me.

"Who this?"

"I don't know."

"You watching this shit upstairs?" I questioned after she took a seat next to me on the couch.

"All I know is he has a deep voice."

"You still mad at me?"

She ignored me again. I rolled my eyes and wrapped my arm around her.

"Hello?"

"Yo it's Suge. We gotta talk about these contracts."

"Why don't you talk to Jerry about that shit?"

"I don't want to talk to Jerry. It's yo company. You the man," he spat.

"Eric who is it?"

"Aight. I'll be through there," I muttered before hanging up. I stood up and headed towards the door.

"Who was that?" she asked.

"Nobody."

As soon as I arrived, I see no sign of Dre. All I see is Suge and couple of big ass niggas.

"Where Dre at? You said he was gon' be here."

"Don't worry bout Dre. Truth be told, he got nothing to do with this."

He stood up. "This is what's gonna happen. You gon' sign these releasing Dre and the D.O.C. from Ruthless."

I licked my lips. "Whatever homie. You think I'ma sign these, you crazier than I thought you was. I'm out."

"Nah," he smirked "that's not what I wanted to hear."

[A/N: yes I edited this scene cuz E did not get jumped so don't try to correct me]

"Fuck you Suge! You don't scare me!" I yelled.

"You can talk all you want, but this ain't no record. Don't make me change you Eric."

"Fuck is that supposed to mean?"

One of his henchmen interrupted. "Keep talking, you gon' fuck around and get smoked."

He pulled out a picture. "You see this shit E? This is a picture of your mom's crib. Yeah I know where she live. Now if you don't sign these, I'm going to kill your mom. And nigga you know where I'm from, this is Bompton nigga."

                                          -
"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey it's me. Can we talk?"

I smiled. "Yeah. Where? Where do you want to meet?"

"At KTLA News."

"Is everything okay?"

"Just get here. Now," she spat.

KTLA News

"Hey. I got here as soon as I can."

She kept a straight face. "Eric I don't know how to tell you this but.. it's not working out. That's why I've been so distant."

"What?"

"This.. us. It's not working. I'm sorry."

"What do you mean it's not working? We can work this out Tomica, don't do this. I'm already going through so much."

She shedded a few tears and took off her ring, before giving it back to me.

"Eric I'm so sorry but just stay away from me. It's not working. It's over."

"Are you serious right now? We can work it out, you don't have to say things like that."

She gave me a kiss on the cheek before grabbing her script.

The Varnish

Being back at The Varnish is beginning to bring back memories. Feels like something bad happened here but I just can't seem to remember.

"She gave me back the ring then called it off."

Scooter sighed. "Yeah. I'm so sorry to hear that E."
