Chapter 19: Two Faced Person

[warning: unedited chapter ahead]

THE AMBULANCE ARRIVED less than seven minutes, and I was relieved that the personnel confirmed that my mother was still alive. But her life was on the edge, to be exact. Tears began to stream down my face as we ran through the hallway of the hospital while my gripped on the ambulance stretcher were tight.

I didn't want to let go, but I had no option left when the nurses held me like a hostage. I screamed my mother's name over and over again until the door to the Emergency Room closed before my eyes. The nurses let go of me and told me that everything would be alright.

How could I trust their words when I couldn't even trust mine?

I began to wipe the tears away using the palm of my hands. If Morgan wanted to take the end of the deal then, so be it.

"War is on the way, Morgan."

Deanna held me close as I reached La Trinidad. I just realized that everything she said about the rumors of La Trinidad from the very beginning were true. If only I could turn back time, maybe I stopped myself from making a damn wish, and just gave up my scholarship. Now, I didn't know where to start stopping an evil being. Rayne stood behind Deanna. She innocently waved at me, smile sadly, and waited for her turn.

I didn't cry.

In fact, I didn't feel anything anymore.

These ere the consequences of my bold action. It was only a mere wish that I didn't expect to come true, but why took three lives in return? There was more truth about the urban legend, and I had to find ways in order to stop this madness before it would get out of hand. Yes, I wanted Dawn and her friends gone, but not this brutal way. They could leave La Trinidad, but not the other way around as they died one by one.

Now, Morgan included my mother to her list.

"Who's the next target?" Rayne asked as we settled ourselves next to the old well. "In case we all failed to stop Morgan."

"I don't know," I replied with a shrugged. "Maybe there's a pattern, right? But what I want to know is how many more lives would she take this year? Three? Four—"

"Five," someone said from behind.

"Miss Samantha," Deanna said, almost taken back for an unknown reason. "How did you know that we're here in the forbidden forest?"

Our art teacher ignored Deanna's question and started to spill the whole truth behind the urban legend. "Morgan will take five lives. Just like what she did in the previous years, and just like what I told you before, Michelle, Morgan was killed and the police officers found her body inside the well after five days of the search mission."

My forehead creased in curiosity, "Who found her, Miss Samantha? Maybe that someone could be our only hope in this matter."

"His younger brother found Morgan in this old well on the 5th day of March," she wickedly smiled and stepped a bit closer toward me.

"The name?"

Samantha smirked, "Mikael la Trinidad, Mike is his nickname."

My forehead creased even more. These twisted games by La Trinidad students gave me headache. Damn, the truth was no longer the truth I once knew.

"LET ME GO this instant, Claire!"

"Why would I listen to your pathetic plea, Morgan?" the woman named Claire asked angrily as dragged Morgan to the gymnasium. "I don't care if your mother owns the school. You have to pay for being a traitor to the squad!"

Morgan tried her best to get away from Claire, but woman held her hair tighter. "But I didn't do anything wrong. What the hell are you talking about? Please enlighten me, and let go of my hair."

"Acting innocent now?" Claire asked back with her mocking face. "Why don't you ask your brother, then? He acted like a saint—"

"You're talking about the punishment that the headmistress gave you and your friends?" Morgan almost laughed from the reason of such bloodbath. "Mike did the right thing by reporting you and your friends to the headmistress. The seven of you broke La Trinidad's code of conduct, so why put the blame on me?"

"Because the both of you are a snitch, bitch!"

Morgan rolled her annoyance as they continued inside the basketball court. "Can we talk things out without making any commotion, please?"

"Talk things out?" Claire couldn't believe what she just heard from her classmate. "Can you talk to your mother to lift our punishment? If you can, then we can talk things out, just like what you want, Morgan."

Morgan balled her hand into a fist, still in annoyance. "You're being unreasonable here, Claire."

"We are not," someone from behind said and threw the ball she was holding at Morgan. "Just like what Claire said, you and your brother are a snitch."

Morgan's eyes went wide open as soon as she saw the woman behind her, "Samantha."
