April 15th, 2020

My word is snow because it's snowing outside right now. Honestly, all the pictures before this one were prettier but were probably located in the North where no one lives.

You had woken up determined to have a positive mindset on your day. It was the day you had to go grocery shopping. It was going to be a busy day but you were prepared for it. You had woken up at 5:30 this morning instead of 6:00 as you usually did. Yesterday they announced 30 cm of snow would fall during the night resulting in a heavy white blanket all over the city. You woke up, and as soon as your feet touched the floor a shiver went through you. The floor was cold and so was the entire room. You put on a bathrobe and increased the heat. You lazily walked downstair to the closet with winter clothes.

You had decided to stay in your pj's just to be more comfortable. You put on a pair of warm socks, your snow pants, your heavy boots and made sure the elastic band was on top pf your boots or else snow would get inside your boots and you hated when it happened. You put on your tuque, not your pretty one with a pompom, the ugly one. You also put on your neck warmer. You put on your ugly long winter coat and zipped it tight. At last, you put on your mittens and took gloves to put on later on top of your mittens. You were heating up quickly with so many clothes on. 

You went outside and sighed seeing how your car was nearly hidden in the snow and your entire driveway was full of snow. You wished again at that moment that you had a personal snow plower, it would be so much quicker than removing snow with a shovel. You didn't have time to dwell on the snow plower, you didn't want to be late today. 

It took you a quick 15 minutes to remove as much snow as you could so that at least your car could get out of your driveway. Your child had woken up quickly after you had finished and was crazy jumping around the house excited to play in the snow. Your morning was frantic, as usual with a small kid. When it was time to leave, you dreaded the moment when you would need to dress up your kid in his winter clothes. He was always moving and it was incredibly hard to put clothes on him. 

You succeeded but it took you more time than you thought it would. You were running late, hoping the traffic wouldn't be too bad.

As the end of the afternoon drew closer, you sighed thinking of the trip to the grocery store you still needed to do. You went to pick up your kid from school and his winter clothes were all wet and full of snow, wetting his car seat and the interior of your car. You arrived at the grocery store and luckily there wasn't a lot of people. You proceeded to find the food you needed while running after your child, picking him up from the floor as he was always falling due to his snowsuit and supporting him as he whined he was too hot in his suit. 

You tried pushing your cart in the snow but it was no use, there was too much snow. You went back in to put away the cart and walked out of the grocery, your hands full and your son at your heels. 

As you arrived home, it was beginning to get dark outside. You allowed your son, after much pleading from him, to go play outside while you cooked dinner. You cooked and started your chores. You ate a simple meal with your son and prepared your lunches for the next day. Since you went to the grocery store it was pretty late and you started the bedtime routine for your kid. Since he had played outside he was very tired and it didn't take him long to fall asleep. 

You went around the house and hung your son's snowsuit on hangers for it to dry. You wiped of the floor were your son had walked in with his snowsuit full of snow. You cleaned the surrounding area as well. It was 10 pm when you finally had time to relax. You opened the news channel and saw that they were announcing another snow storm tonight and you would need to do your day all over again the next day. 

Oh, the joy of living in a Northern country where we had long winters.
