[The audio clicks on. Jordyn is speaking quietly, and there is faint background noise, like cars driving by]

Hello again. It's been a while. By a while I mean a couple months. I honestly kinda forgot this thing was more than just a cool accessory.

I really don't have anything exciting to memorize. I'm just bored. Niki can't sleep again. It's almost 4AM, and his constant pacing and tossing and turning has kept me from getting any real rest either. So I came out to the roof to hang out for a while. Maybe I'll fall asleep out here.

[Jordyn sighs]

What can I share for the future...?

Oh, I finally convinced Gramps to let me paint my room. The walls are navy blue, and I painted the floor like a galaxy. Gramps says it's super dark in there now, but I think it's cozy.

There's also been the whole earthquake debacle. It's all over the news and in every discussion recently. Apparently the government has been digging tunnels underneath certain districts. Nobody knows how bad it is or how far the tunnels even go, because only government workers sworn to secrecy are allowed in. "It's too dangerous for civilians at this time," they say. Yeah, well, you coulda warned us about that before you started digging and causing structural collapses!

Did I mention that? The tunnels are collapsing in on themselves. Every time one does, it creates a huge sinkhole and causes the entirety of Initium to shake!

We haven't heard anything about anyone dying yet, which is good. But a ton of buildings have been completely destroyed, and I know at least a few people were injured.

Our district hasn't been affected, thankfully. Who knows what Gramps would do if Corner Convenience got destroyed. It's mostly only the slums.

Nobody really knows why the tunnels were being built. There are a lot of theories I've heard thrown around, but the one I hear most often is that the government wanted to build an underground district. To solve the overpopulation problem or something.

[Jordyn scoffs]

That backfired pretty hard. All the tunnels have done so far is make less homes.

People are idiots sometimes, huh?

[Jordyn yawns. Another car passes by]

It's nice out here, if a bit chilly. I can't wait for summer, so Niki and I can spend nights up here again and stay up as late as we want without consequence.

Niki's the best storyteller. He's always telling me about the craziest things that happen in Corner Convenience. Crazy things always happen when I'm at school or out with my friends, for some reason.

Anyway, I think I'm going to try to get some sleep now. Or if I can't I'll just watch the sunrise.
