Hi! I'm Jordyn. Jordyn Wells.

[Another pause, before she laughs]

Sorry, I don't know why I'm introducing myself. Nobody is ever going to listen to this except me and Niki. Well, maybe my children will too, if I have any. Either way, you already know who I am.

Today was my sixteenth birthday. Gramps gave me this little audio-recording necklace. He said I should use it like a diary, to log memories and special moments of my life.

Like today! Today has been really fun. Gramps closed the store early and we went to my favourite restaurant; just him, Niki and me. The servers—and even some of the other customers—all sang happy birthday. We had pizza, and it was hella good. Mine had pineapple on it. I know a lot of people don't like pineapple on pizza, but honestly, it's the best. Fight me.

I mean, it'll never be as good as Gramp's cooking, but still. Future me, if you ever change your mind about pineapple on pizza, I will build a time machine and come to find you.

[The soft sounds of movement can be heard as Jordyn presumably relaxes]

Anyway, after we ate there was cake, cherry flavoured. That's my favourite. And then gifts. Like I said, Gramps gave me this pendant. It looks simple, but it's also super cute, so I'll probably wear it all the time. Niki gave me the last instalment of my favourite comic series, Beyond the Stars.

I guess in retrospect that doesn't seem like a very exciting birthday. But it was. I had a lot of fun. And after last year's disaster of a party, the idea of having a whole bunch of people over doesn't really appeal to me.

Does that make me a loner?

I don't think it does. It's not like I have no friends or anything. We just had a little celebration at school today, is all.

Speaking of, I have school tomorrow, so I should go to bed before it gets too late. It's already...

[A pause as Jordyn checks the time]

1:43 AM. Yeesh. Yeah, time for bed.

How do I end this? Guess I'll just say goodnight.
