The Same Nightmare Over and Over Again
"So close, Little Runner." Thawne mocked. "It was never going to work anyway." Nora rose her hand to see her skin particles beginning to fade away.
I ran forward but stayed a short distance behind.
"Mom? Dad?" She asked. "What's happening?"
"A new timeline is setting in." Thawne said. "What?" Barry said with denial. "A new timeline. That you created when you destroyed the dagger. I'm sorry, Little Runner, for trading you in like this but I had to be sure that I could go free." Barry ran forward and pinned Thawne to the electrical box.
"You can still save her, Barry." Thawne wheezed. "There's still time, you can save her."
"How?" Barry asked every inch of him not killing Thawne on the spot. "The Negative Speed Force." Thawne grunted. "She has to go there, it's the only place immune to timeline changes. But you have to go now. You have to go Barry, or we lose her forever. That's right. I've grown fond of her too. In many ways. She's shown me what it's like to have a daughter." Barry pinned him against the box harder. "See you in our next Crisis."Nora and Barry sped off in one direction while Thawne shared one last look and sped off in the other.
In less than A Few seconds Barry and Nora were back standing next to Iris and I."Nora, what are we doing?" Barry asked. "It's too late." Nora cried. "No, it's not. We gotta go back!" Barry yelled. We all watched as the soon to be shattered family argued with each other. "The Negative Speed Force is making me like Thawne. Full of anger and hate. I don't want that to be my legacy." She cried as she looked at me. "This is all on me. All of it. My mistake. And I'm not going to make another one. Sometimes all you can do is live with the consequences." Her skin particles continued to disappear making their way through her whole body. "Oh my god." Iris cried as the three of them hugged.
"It's going to be okay. Thank you for everything." Nora cried as her skin began to flake away from her body. "We love you." Nora said to them. "I love you." Nora replied to her parents, the whole time she didn't take her eyes off of me. She nodded at me. Words didn't need to be used for what the two of us were thinking. "Keep him safe for me." Her voice floated towards me as her body completely disappeared. "Nora!" I yelled sitting upright in the bed. Cold sweat poured down my face as I caught my breath.
Nora was still sound asleep next to me. I let out a sigh of relief as I stood up and walked out into the living room.Soft rain pattered against the balcony windows while clouds covered the night sky.Soft footsteps echoed from inside the room before Nora came out and smiled at me. "I woke up and you were gone.""Just needed some air." I replied back returning my attention to the storm."You, okay?" She asked as she crossed the room and wrapped her arms around me."You ever have that one reoccurring nightmare?" I asked her."Yeah, there's also a clown chasing me in mine. But he's not like a normal clown, he's got a purple and green suit with green hair, A pale face and a giant red smile and he laughs like no other." She started. "Except I can't run away because my speed doesn't work and when he catches me, he always asks me "wanna hear a joke?" And then I wake up.I rubbed her back and chuckled without replying. "What's yours?"I took a deep breath. "It's you, dying, that night. Over and over again. "She looked up as worry plastered across her face. She grabbed my face with her hands, "Hey, I'm right here. I'm not going Anywhere."
