The emissary - The Hobbit - Fili x Reader

The company stood with Gandalf in Rivendell. An ellon, and elleth slowly descending that staircase, as they and the wizard greeted one another.

"Lindir. Lady (Y/n). It is so nice to see you both again." Gandalf began. Fili not hearing another word, or noticing the fact that the horses, and men of Lord Elrond had surrounded him and the rest of the of the dwarves. The young prince too concerned with the beautiful elleth that stood staring back at him. A soft smile gracing her lips.

Fili had never seen anything like her before. Her skin and hair were as pale as moonlight. Her eyes as dark as the night sky. To Fili, she seemed to glow with an aura that set her apart from everything around her. And as he watched her converse with Gandalf and the elven Lord, he couldn't help but feel lost.

"What ya lookin at lad?" Dwalin suddenly asked. His gruff voice bringing Fili back from his thoughts. The Durin prince's heart sinking as the beautiful creature disappeared back into her home.

"Nothin." Fili replied, slightly too harshly. Causing Kili to spin around and look at his brother.

"I wasn't looking at anything. I was just.......I was just making sure that the elves didn't attack." Fili continued. Doing his best to ignore Kili's smirk.

                                                         >>------------------------------<<

As the others complained about the food, Fili made his way over to the other end of the table where Gandalf and Lord Elrond sat.

"Gandalf." Fili began. Feeling grateful that the others were starting to become a little too loud.

"Yes Fili. What is it?" Gandalf enquired kindly, as he turned his attention to the blonde dwarf.

"The elleth that ya called (Y/n). Who is she?" Fili asked, as both the elf lord and the wizard began to chuckle softly.

"Lady (Y/n) is the younger child of Lord Celebron, and Lady Galadriel. The sister of Lord Elrond's wife. She is an elleth of unrivalled beauty, is she not. Why do you ask?" Gandalf informed the young Durin, as he looked between Fili and Elrond.

"Can you not see. Our dear (Y/n) has cast her spell on your young friend. I am not surprised that you have been enchanted. She is quite special." Elrond told the wizard, a soft smile pulling at the corners of his lips, as he dodged yet another flying bread roll.

"If you are interested, young Durin. (Y/n) can normally be found reading in the tower next to the great waterfall." The lord added. He and Gandalf smiling as Fili disappeared without being noticed by the rest of the company.

"You would approve of such a match? And what about Lindir. I thought that he had every intention of being wed to her?" Gandalf asked, as he watched Fili's blonde locks vanish out of sight.

"(Y/n) has always been different. Always known what she wants. And I, nor her parents have never been able to tell her what to do. I saw the way she was looking at your young prince. How he was looking at her. Love will find a way, Gandalf. It always does. It knows nothing of our differences. It only sees what it needs. And even though I know that Lindir holds a special place in (Y/n)'s heart, he is not what she needs." Elrond told his old friend. The wizard knowing that his old friend was right, and that the Lady (Y/n) had always had a rebellious streak that you did not find in many elves.

                                                       >>--------------------------------<<

(Y/n) sat looking up into the great waterfall. The drops of water catching the light and forming a perfect rainbow that seemed to end at her feet. Normally she would be reading, lost in her own little world. Apart from all those around her. But the arrival of the company of dwarves, the halfling and Gandalf had distracted her. The handsome blonde dwarf in particular catching her eye. She had never seen dwarves before, she knew of them of course, and even though her father had been lord of Lothlórien, and she had been born in Eregion, (Y/n) had spent many years in Rivendell, never setting eyes on the creatures that lived below the ground.

She had to admit that there was a handsome ruggedness about one or two of the company, but the blonde dwarf had caught her attention the most. He had a twinkle in his eye that drew her too him. A look that made her want to smile. And even though Elrond and Lindir wished to keep her away from the rambunctious dwarves, (Y/n) wanted to know, and see more.

Suddenly (Y/n) turned. A cough alerting her to the fact that someone else was present. Her eyes growing wide as the striking blonde dwarf moved closer to her.

"Master dwarf. Is everything alright? Are you lost? If you are looking for the rest of your company, I believe that given the current furore that they are creating, we will easily be able to find them if you need help." (Y/n) asked, as Fili moved even closer.

"No. I........I wanted to speak with you, milady. Lord Elrond said that I would be able to find ya ere. And my name is Fili." Fili replied with a deep bow, before taking a seat next to the exquisite elf.

"And why would you wish to speak, Master Fili? It appears evident that the rest of your company are not overly fond of my kind. Though given what Elrond has told me, I can well appreciate why. So, what would make you wish to seek me out?" (Y/n) enquired, her breath catching in her throat as Fili took hold of her hand.

"Because........because you are tha most beautiful thing that I have seen. And I know that I'm a dwarf, and you're an elf, but I'd like ta get ta know ya better." Fili confessed. His heart almost beating out of his chest as (Y/n) smiled at him.

"Well, Master Fili. That is quite a confession. And I find that I myself have something to confess. And that is that I would like to get to know you too. I do not see the fact that you and I are different should prevent us from becoming better acquainted while you remain here. And if you would like, we can begin now." (Y/n) replied. Fili moving a little closer to the enchanting elf as they began to speak.

                                                         >>------------------------------<<

(Y/n) walked through the gardens with Elrond and Lindir, the elleth drowning out Elrond's aid as he complained to the Lord about the depleted stocks of food and wine due to the presence of the dwarves. (Y/n) was too busy thinking about Fili, and his declaration of love from earlier that day. Their short time together proving to both of them that there was something unique between them. (Y/n) knew that relationships between elves and dwarves were not the norm, but Fili was special. And despite everything, she couldn't help but feel as though she also was in love with the dwarf prince.

"My lady!" Lindir suddenly exclaimed. Doing his best to shield (Y/n) away from the sight of the naked dwarves jumping into, and bathing in one of the fountains. (Y/n) doing all she could to not giggle at the funny sight of naked dwarves laughing and shouting happily.

"My lord. I will take Lady (Y/n) away from here." Lindir insisted, as he took (Y/n) by the arm and escorted her as quickly as he could from the scene.

(Y/n) looking back to see if her dwarf was amongst the bathers. The lady smiling as she saw a flash of blonde hair, before Lindir almost dragged her inside.

                                                   >>----------------------------------<<

(Y/n) sat in her usual place. She had been to speak with her mother. She had told her of her feelings for the young Durin. And much to (Y/n)'s surprise, Galadriel had simply smiled and kissed her on the forehead. The lady of the woods of telling her daughter that their time would come.

"(Y/n)!" Fili called out, as he rushed to her side. Taking her hands and kissing them.

"You and the others are leaving, aren't you?" (Y/n) asked. Fili shocked that his beautiful elleth seemed to know what so many didn't.

"How......How did ya know that?" Fili enquired. A single tear rolling down (Y/n)'s cheek as she turned her attention to the waterfall.

"Come with us. Help us take back Erebor." Fili begged, despite knowing that his uncle nor many of the others would approve of having, of all things, an elleth with them as they journeyed back to the Lonely Mountain.

"You know that I can't do that Fili. You have a long journey, and a great quest before you. And I can only imagine the things that you and the others will face. My life though lays here. At least for the time being. But, when Erebor is once again in the hands of the Durin folk. When you have faced all your foes and won the day. We may find that if it is our fate, you and I will meet again." (Y/n) said sadly as she looked back at the blonde prince.

"Now go. The other's will be waiting for you. And the Lonely Mountain is still a long way off. Just promise me that you will be careful. And always remember that I love you." (Y/n) said, as she leaned over and kissed Fili softly on the cheek. Fili nodding before he tuned to leave. Neither he nor (Y/n) knowing whether they would see one another again.

                                                  >>--------------------------------<<

It had been some time since the battle of the five armies. And the fight had affected all those that had been involved. Yet life was slowly beginning to find some kind of normality. And Dale and Erebor were gradually being rebuilt, as men and dwarves once again lived side by side in harmony under the rule of Thorin and Bard.

"Bard. There is a contingent of elves riding towards us." An older man called out, as he rushed into the room. A slight air of concern in his voice.

The citizens of the city hadn't seen or heard anything of the woodland elves since the battle. And a few of those left were secretly glad that they hadn't, given what some of them had heard about the king not wanting to help them or the dwarves. So now, Bard was confused as to why Thranduil would all of a sudden send some of his people to the city.

"Well Evan. I suppose that we should go greet our visitors." Bard told the man. Patting his arm reassuringly as the two left the room. The bowman eager to find out could possibly be going on.

"They don't look like woodland elves ta me." Evan said quietly, as the delegation came riding through the gates of the city. Bard, as well as everyone else present staring in disbelief as the group on horseback came to a stop before them. Their eyes locked firmly on the glowing pale hair beauty that was being helped from her steed.

"They aren't." Bard replied, as he stepped forward. Now even more confused than before.

"I wish to speak to the man called Bard." The elleth called out. Bard stepping further forward as he stopped before her.

"That would be me. How can I help you?" Bard asked. The bowman sure that he had never seen anything as beautiful as the she elf in front of him.

"It is a pleasure to meet you. I am lady (Y/n). Daughter of the lord and lady of Lothlórien. I have been sent here by Lord Elrond of Rivendell as emissary between my people, you, and the dwarves of Erebor. He sends you greetings, and good wishes. And an assurance that if you ever need help, I and the rest of my group will be of assistance in any way we can. One or two of my people are gifted healers, and if any of your citizens are still injured, or unwell, they will be more than happy to help." (Y/n) told Bard. Bard taking the lady's hand and kissing it gently.

"It is a privilege to have such a beautiful emissary sent from so far away. Please. You look thirsty. I insist you come inside and rest, my lady." Bard told (Y/n), as he escorted the elleth inside his home. Bain, Sigrid, and Tilda rising quickly from their seats as their father and the lady entered the room.

"You're beautiful." Tilda suddenly commented. (Y/n) chuckling as the little girl looked up at her.

"Why thank you little one. But I assure you, you are just as beautiful." (Y/n) told the little girl, as she brushed some of her lose hair back behind her ear. The elleth smiling at Bain as he handed her a glass of wine, and Sigrid escorted her to a chair.

"You have a beautiful family. But I was wondering if you could tell me about another?" (Y/n) asked, as she took a sip of the wine.

"I know that Thorin barley survived his battle with Azog. But I was wondering if you knew of the Durin princes. Of Kili. Of.........of Fili?" (Y/n) continued hesitantly. Hoping beyond hope that her dwarf had survived the battle.

"Kili was injured by one of the orcs but has recovered well. Fili on the other hand was not as lucky. He was stabbed by Azog and thrown onto the rocks. It was touch and go for a while, but he is slowly recovering now." Bard said, smiling as he saw the look of relief on the she elf's face.

"You know Fili well, my lady?" Bard asked, as (Y/n) looked into the fire next time them. Her thoughts going back to their time in Rivendell. How she had fallen in love with the blonde dwarf prince. And how up until now, she had feared that she would never see him again.

"We.......we met in Rivendell. We became acquainted. He is one of the finest of his kind." (Y/n) replied, a soft smile pulling at her lips, as saw the knowing look in the man's eyes.

"Well, my lady. I am sure that Fili is will be as happy to see you, as you appear to be, him. But may I suggest that you rest here. It's getting dark, and even though Erebor is only a short journey. It may be better to meet your prince after a good night's sleep." Bard told (Y/n). Offering her his arm, before escorting her to a room.

                                                    >>---------------------------------<<

Fili stared off into the distance, not hearing a word of what his uncle, brother, or Dwalin were talking about. He had not been the same since the battle. He had nearly died at the hands of the defiler. And even though his body had slowly recovered from his injuries, the young dwarf princes mind was now permanently fixed on the elleth that he had left behind in Rivendell. The sight of his brother with Tauriel, only making things worse, as he continued to yearn for the she elf that he loved.

He knew that word of the battle would have reached Rivendell. And the sad prince couldn't help but imagine that (Y/n) may have heard that he had died. That she could have given Lindir her hand, believing that she had lost him. But with the knowledge that an emissary was being sent by Lord Elrond from Rivendell, made the young prince hope that he could find out more about (Y/n).

"Thorin. The emissary from Rivendell has arrived. I think that all of you will find it interesting to see who Lord Elrond has sent. Particularly Fili." Balin informed the king and the others, as he walked into the room. A subtle smile pulling at the old dwarves' lips as he saw Fili's face suddenly brighten a little.

Despite how careful (Y/n) and Fili had tried to be during the company's time in Rivendell. The wise old Balin had not failed to notice how Fili and the elven lady would look at one another. How the young prince would suddenly disappear when he thought that none of the others would notice. And how, when Fili had returned to the others before they had secretly departed Imladris, he seemed to have left a part of himself in the beautiful city.

                                                    >>--------------------------------<<

(Y/n) stood in the great hall. Nervously waiting and hoping to see her prince. The night before, Bard had told her of the battle. Of the losses that man, dwarf, and elf had endured. Of the injuries that the Durin's had received. And the idea that her handsome dwarf had nearly been taken from her by the great white orc, had brought her to tears.

"My lady." A voice called out. The elleth turning to be greeted by the five dwarves. (Y/n)'s eyes falling on the blonde prince that was smiling broadly at her.

"King Thorin." (Y/n) began, as she finally dragged her gaze from Fili,

"It is a pleasure to meet you again. Lord Elrond sends you his best wishes. And hopes that our two peoples will be able to............" (Y/n) trailed off. Completely forgetting what she was going to say as Fili came to stand before her. The blonde dwarf slowly taking her hands, as the pairs forgot where they were, and who they were with.

"I thought that I had lost you, my prince. I thought that I would never see you again." (Y/n) said quietly. Fili reaching up and carefully brushing away the shimmering tear that was slowly trickling down her cheek. Balin quietly ushering the other dwarves from the room so that Fili and his elleth could be together.

"I would never leave ya (Y/n). The only reason that I survived was because of you. Because I knew that I had to see ya again. Because I knew that one way or another, we were meant ta be together." Fili replied, as he slowly pulled a small box from his pocket.

"I had these made for ya. Even if I had ta travel back ta Rivendell myself, I would have found a way ta ask ya." The Durin prince continued, opening the box to reveal two small beads.

"I want ta court ya (Y/n). I want ya ta be my wife." Fili declared. (Y/n) leaning down so that her prince could take some strands of her hair. The dwarf braiding the locks before placing in one of the beads.

"I though that you would never ask." (Y/n) chuckled, as her soft lips met Fili's. The dwarf offering his lady his arm as the two began to walk from the great hall. The pair knowing that their lives were just about to begin.
