Rocket's girl - Guardians of the Galaxy - Rocket x Reader
Rocket was (Y/n)'s best friend, there was no doubt about it. The two of them had been inseparable since she had stepped foot on the Milano a year ago. She was an Avenger really, the younger sister of Tony Stark himself; but unlike her brother she had a mutation, and her ability in probability field manipulation had allowed the team to turn many a bad situation to their advantage. When the Guardians had made a pit stop on Terra, (Y/n) had easily made friends with all of them and eventually asked if she could join them in space.
"We'd love to have you (Y/n), you'd make a great Guardian, and I could always use extra help when I play cards." Quill laughed as he came and sat close to her on a sofa in the common room of Stark tower. Rocket eyes darted up from his latest project and growled under his breath as Quill moved even closer.
"I agree with the ass hat for once." Rocket said, jumping down from the stool and pushing his way in between (Y/n) and Quill.
"I think (Y/n) would be great, plus she can help me build bombs, we've already built two since we've been here." Rocket said, smiling up at (Y/n), obviously proud of their achievement.
"BOMB!!! WHAT BOMB?! I DON'T WANT BOMBS IN MY TOWER (Y/N)." Tony's voice shouted from the kitchen before he suddenly appeared.
"You're unnerving attraction to high explosives is very worrying (Y/n)." Tony said, slumping down on the sofa next to her.
"Oh, that's good coming from a man who used to make weapons for governments, and anyone else that could afford them." (Y/n) retorted, as she and rocket crossed their arms defiantly across their chests and glared at Tony.
"Ouch, touché." Tony muttered, looking down into the liquid in his glass.
"Maybe you do need a little time in space; between you, Loki, and your prank wars with Barton, I'm going crazy, I could do with the peace!" Tony said, as he puts his glass to his lips and took a gulp of the brown liqueur.
"Tony! You want rid of me? That hurts! You really know how to cut a girl to the quick." (Y/n) said, putting her hand over her heart, and pretending to be hurt.
Tony sighed and pulled (Y/n) to his side, as she lay her head happily on his shoulder; being the sister of the great Tony Stark had its advantages, and one of those advantages was that he was the best big brother in the world. Many wouldn't believe how different Tony was with the younger woman that he held to his side, but she was one of the only people that he would sacrifice anything, and everything for.
"It's not that I want rid of you, I love you honey, it's just that Loki's getting a bit too close to you and I don't like it; he's still a bad guy as far as I'm concerned." Tony said, trying to ignore the looks from Quill, Rocket, and Groot, who were all watching the scene between the siblings.
"I know Tony, but I like Loki, and he's not so bad once you get to know him." (Y/n) said, trying to reassure her brother as he lay his head on top of hers.
"You're sometimes too nice for your own good (Y/n). Anyway, I think some time with these guys would be great, and I've already been working on a suit for you." Tony told (Y/n), smiling as her head shot up, and she grabbed his hands.
"Wouldn't we have to get permission from Fury? I mean I'd love to spend more time with Rocket and Groot, but would Fury let me go?" (Y/n) asked, as Tony reached down and kissed her on the forehead.
"Don't worry little sis, let Iron Man fix it for you!" Tony grinned, as (Y/n) threw her arms around him, pulling him into a big hug.
"Thanks Tony." (Y/n) said happily, before leaning over Rocket and giving Peter a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks Star Lord." (Y/n) said, as she grabbed hold of Rocket's paw and Groot's hand and made for her room.
"Come on guys, help me pack for space!"
Peter crossed his arms over his chest and smiled smugly. "She called me Star Lord, I like her more and more."
Tony chuckled as he got up for the sofa, patting Quill on the shoulder, before he made his way out of the common room. "You have no idea what you are letting yourself in for pal; after all, she is a Stark."

Space was more amazing than (Y/n) could ever have dreamed and being able to spend more time with the Guardians, especially Rocket and Groot was even better. As weeks had turned into months (Y/n) and Rocket had proved inseparable, spending all their time together, making new devises that the rest of the team were not sure that they would ever need or use; but the two had always reassured them that it was better to have them and not need them, than to need them, and not have them. They had become so inseparable that Rocket had even begun to sleep in her bunk with her at night, the two friends happily snuggled up together under a large warm blanket.
"(Y/n), I think I need you to see this!" Peter shouted out from the cockpit, as she and Rocket worked on yet another bomb.
(Y/n) jumped up and ran to where Peter was sat, staring out into space at the vast coloured cloud that the Milano was currently heading for.
"What the hell is it?" Peter asked, turning to look between (Y/n) and Gamora, who sat in the co-pilot seat.
(Y/n) rushed out, and headed towards her room, dragging out a box from underneath her bunk that held numerous creations that she and Rocket had come up with.
Finally finding the thing she was looking for, she headed back to the cockpit, and began to scan.
"It's some kind of anomaly...... It's basically made up of hydrogen, helium, some other ionized gases, and dust, so pretty much like the nebula in Earth's solar system. There is something different though." (Y/n) told Pete, and Gamora, as Rocket came to look at the information that was popping up on the little screen (Y/n) was looking at.
"I'm picking up traces of not only dark matter, but dark energy, and I'm not sure what those could do; but this thing is huge, and I see little option but to go through it." (Y/n) said, looking at Quill.
Peter looked between Gamora and Rocket, before turning back to (Y/n). "How do you know all this?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion as (Y/n) began to laugh.
"Pete, I'm a Stark, and Tony isn't the only genius in the family; plus, I've spent more hours than I care to remember with Bruce, so I've picked up a few things on the way." (Y/n) smiled, as Rocket looked up at her proudly.
"So, you don't think that there is anything that can hurt us in there?" Quill asked, turning his attention back to the vast anomaly.
"All I can tell you is this; dark matter makes up about 28 per cent of the universe, but other than that, not a lot is known. It's invisible, and doesn't emit, reflect, or absorb light, or any type of electromagnetic radiation. Dark energy makes up 68 per cent of the universe, and is responsible for its continued expansion; basically, it's the universes building blocks. We have to go through Pete, there is no way around it." (Y/n) told him, concerned that she wasn't able to allay all his fears.
"Looks like the great Star Lord is scared of a dust cloud." Rocket scoffed, as he made his way back to the table, as (Y/n) patted Quill on the shoulder.
"It's up to you Pete, whatever you decide." (Y/n) told him before she went to join Rocket.
>>---------------------------------<<
(Y/n) eyes fluttered open as she felt the spot that was usually taken up by her furry friend, was empty and cold. Putting on one of Quill's over sized t-shirts that she had liberated from his clean washing, (Y/n) made her way out of her room, finally finding Rocket sat in the pilot seat watching as the Milano passed through the anomaly.
"Beautiful isn't it?" (Y/n) said, taking a seat next to Rocket as she joined him.
"I thought I'd seen everything (Y/n), that nothing could surprise me; but this is amazing." Rocket said, looking over at (Y/n) as she took his paw.
"From what I could work out, we should be through this in about another 12 hours. Why don't you come back to bed, there's not a lot you can do at the moment, and the Milano will need the best pilot in the universe to be fully rested so that you can take her where we need to go tomorrow." (Y/n) said, as she headed back to her room, with Rocket happily following behind.
>>------------------------------------<<
(Y/n)'s arm reached across, as she went to turn off the alarm; Bucky had bought an Iron Man alarm clock for Christmas for her as a joke, but she loved it, and had always insisted that she took it with her everywhere she went; so in space, it had become her link to her brother and the rest of her Avenger family back on earth. As she brought her arm back, her hand, instead of falling on soft warm fur, fell on smooth warm skin; she hummed happily for a moment, as she snuggled her head, absentmindedly into the warm chest on which she lay. Suddenly her eyes flew open, finding herself face to face, not with Rocket, but a man that she had never seen before.
"QUILL!" (Y/n) screamed out, as she fell from the bunk and onto the floor, with an unceremonious bump.
"(Y/n), what's wrong?" The man asked, as he jumped up from the bed, crouching in front of (Y/n) as she reached for a gun.
"QUILL! DRAX! GAMORA! HELP!" (Y/n) shouted, as Quill and the others suddenly rushed into the room, pointing their guns at the man in front of (Y/n).
"What the hell is wrong with everyone? Has that anomaly sent you all crazy?" The man asked, as the team looked between him, and a very startled (Y/n).
"R-r-rocket?" (Y/n) tentatively asked, as she reached out and touched the brown stubble on his cheek.
"Of course, I'm Rocket. What's going on?" Rocket asked, not yet realising why (Y/n) and the rest of the team were staring at him.
"I am Groot." Groot said, as he stared as Rocket, not sure what to make of his old friend.
"What do you mean, look in a mirror?" Rocket grumbled, as he stood up and stared at himself in the mirror on (Y/n)'s wall.
Within moments, Rocket found himself sitting on (Y/n)'s bed, as she tried to examine him, the rest of the Guardians bombarding the pair with questions.
"Will you guys shut up for a minute! Can't you see Rocket is in shock? It's not everyday that you go to sleep a raccoon and wake up a human." (Y/n) said, slightly annoyed, as she pushed the others out of her room, and shut the door.
"Rocket....... how do you feel?" (Y/n) said, as she gripped hold of the shocked man's hands.
"How did this happen (Y/n)? How did I become this?" Rocket asked, as he fell backwards onto the bunk.
"I don't know Rocket. I think I need to talk to Bruce and Tony, if anyone can help, it'll be those two." (Y/n) said, as she grabbed the communicator that Tony had given her when she left earth.
As the team sat around the table all still staring at Rocket, who was now fully dressed, unhappily, in some of Quills old clothes, (Y/n) returned after speaking to the two science bros back on terra.
"Well." (Y/n) said with a sigh, as she sat next to Rocket.
"I told Bruce and Tony everything, and Bruce has come up with a theory. Do you remember how I said that dark energy was the building blocks of the universe?" (Y/n) asked, looking at Rocket, Quill and Gamora, as they all nodded.
"Bruce thinks that because Rocket was genetically engineered, as the dark energy passed through the ship, it modified him again, it built him up to the next level. Rocket was designed to be bipedal and have human intelligence, and Bruce thinks that the energy modified the modification, and that's why he's humanoid now. It didn't affect the rest of us because our genetics are the same as when we were born, the only one that isn't....... is Rockets." (Y/n) said, holding on to Rocket's hand and looking into his eyes.
"I'm sorry Rocket, but Bruce thinks that this is permanent." (Y/n) said apologetically, as Rocket got up and stormed towards (Y/n)'s room, (Y/n) rushing to join him.
>>-------------------------------<<
It had been weeks now and Rocket was still in his humanoid form, and despite his initial annoyance, begrudgingly he had started to quite like his new self, especially when he was around (Y/n). The change had not stopped them both from spent all your time together, the two proving to be as inseparable as ever; the pair continuing to build all sorts of devises for the team during the day and Rocket still sleeping with (Y/n) in her bunk at night, much to particularly Quill's amusement. Rocket had justified the sleeping arrangements by telling everyone that he couldn't sleep without (Y/n) as he had slept with her for so long that it would be weird without her, getting annoyed as Peter would just laugh.
Rocket sat in the pilot seat of the Milano, steering it to your next destination as (Y/n) watched him from the side carefully studying his every move. His muscles seemed to ripple even when he sat still, his nose wrinkled cutely as he concentrated. Occasionally he would run his long fingers through his beautiful brown and grey hair, and it would send wonderful shivers up and down her spine. Peter watched the scene before him and couldn't help but smirk.
"(Y/n), can I have a word with you?" Peter called out from behind her, trying not to laugh as she sighed happily.
"Yeah, ok Lord Star, I...I'll be right there!" (Y/n) said absentmindedly, Quill unable to stop laughing at her mix up, and at the way (Y/n) bit her bottom lip and sighed as she watched Rocket, not moving from her spot.
Quill called her name again; this time she didn't even hear him, her mind completely focused on one thing and that was Rocket.
Rocket turned around in the pilot's seat and faced her, his beautiful eyes staring into hers and a big grin forming on his face. "Hey sweetheart, I think asshat wants to talk to you." Rocket said, bringing her back from her thoughts.
"What? What? Oh, yeah sorry!" (Y/n) said, slightly embarrassed, a pink flush coming to her cheeks.
"Sorry Pete, what is it?" (Y/n) asked, as Peter placed his arm around her and pulled her into his quarters, sitting her on his bunk.
"Ok (Y/n), what's going on with you and Rocket?" Peter asked, as (Y/n) furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"What are you talking about Pete? Me and Rocket are the same as always." (Y/n) protested, slightly annoyed as Peter began to chuckle.
"(Y/n), I've seen the way you look at him and the way he looks at you. I've seen the way you sleep together in your bunk; I couldn't even fit a sheet of paper between you, he has you wrapped up in his arms so tight. Why don't you two do us all a favour and just get together, the sexual tension between the two of you is killing us!" Pete said, as he sat next to her on the bunk.
"I don't know what you're talking about Pete that's ridiculous. Rocket and I are best friends." (Y/n) told him, her face glowing bright red.
"Oh geez (Y/n), you're a grown woman and he's a fully grown humanoid male. When you aren't constantly attached to one another's hips, you're mooning over one another with puppy dog eyes. Show him what its like to be human (Y/n); if you leave it any longer, he could change back and you'll both regret not taking this opportunity." Peter said, taking hold of (Y/n)'s hand.
"I...... I just don't want to ruin our friendship, it's the most important thing to me!" (Y/n) said, as Peter pulled her to his side.
"Believe me (Y/n), no matter what form Rocket is in, it will never effect your friendship, now for god's sake go get your man!" Peter said happily as (Y/n) jumped up and gave him a hug.
"Thanks Pete, you're the best, I owe you one." She said, rushing out of his room and back to Rocket.
"Hey snuggles!" (Y/n) called out, as she plopping herself down in the seat next to Rocket, who laughed at the terrible nickname (Y/n) had given him when she found out that the rough, tough, Rocket raccoon, liked to be hugged.
"Hi sweetheart, what did the dummy want?" Rocket asked, watching as (Y/n) swung her legs around so that they dangled over the side of the seat.
"Oh, nothing important, you know Peter, I'm sure he just likes to hear himself talk." (Y/n) said, both looking at one another as they burst out laughing.
"Rocket, why don't you put the ship on autopilot, and we can go do something fun?" (Y/n) asked, as she got up and crouched next to his chair.
"Like what?" Rocket asked, his attention now peaked.
"Well....... we can either try and fix that bomb we were working on, or we could go to the bunk and you could give me a cuddle, snuggles." (Y/n) said, holding his hand as Rocket looked out into space briefly before putting the Milano on autopilot and looking back at (Y/n).
"The bomb is very tempting, but I think I'll take the cuddle." Rocket said, a pink flush coming to his cheeks followed by a huge smile. (Y/n) gripped his hand tight and pull him to their room; as she sat on he bed, she looked up at him nervously.
"Ah Rocket, if you like, I don't mind if you want to take your shirt off, it is a little warm in here." (Y/n) said, shift uncomfortably in her seat, feeling slightly embarrassed about suggesting it.
"That's a good idea sweetheart, you're right it is a bit warm." Rocket said, pulling his shirt over his head, and laying it on the chair next to the bunk.
(Y/n) couldn't help but stare as she let out a quiet moan; perfect abs, that chest, those arms, Rocket still had no idea how pleasing his human form was, and (Y/n) couldn't help but thank the universe for creating it. (Y/n) could feel her heart pounding, the butterflies in her stomach fluttering, as Rocket crawled into the bunk next to her and pulled up a blanket, before pulling (Y/n) close to his chest.
"Rocket, can I talk to you about something?" (Y/n) asked, smiling as she felt him nod.
"Rocket, I...I like you, and I mean I like you more than just a friend." (Y/n) said, blushing as Rocket looked down at her.
"What do you mean sweetheart?"
(Y/n) took a deep breath and prayed for the best. "I mean I love you Rocket; I've always loved you, but now I'm in love with you; surly you must have liked a girl before?" (Y/n) asked, as Rocket shrugged his shoulders before pulling her closer.
"Before I changed, I was the only one of my kind, I was usually too busy for girls. It was normally just me and Groot; girls never liked me unless it was you, you've always liked me. You always made me feel special and important." Rocket said, brushing his fingers through her hair.
(Y/n) placed her hand on his cheek and stroked it gently. "You're still special Rocket, you always will be, it doesn't matter whether you are humanoid or a raccoon, you will always be special to me. All I ask it that you let me show you how special I think you are, let me show you how much I love you." (Y/n) said, as she kissed him on the lips, gently at first but as Rocket pulled her closer, the intensity grew. (Y/n) rolled herself over so that she was now on top of him straddling his hips, his hands on your waist.
"I'm going to show you how much I love you Rocket."
>>-------------------------------<<
"(Y/N), Rocket, breakfast!" Gamora called out, as she sat down at the table.
Peter smirking as the team heard giggles, squeals, and Rocket's gruff laugh from the inside (Y/n)'s bedroom before they both fall through the door with Rocket landing on top of (Y/n) causing him to growl seductively.
Rocket helped (Y/n) up, and they both dusted themselves off before joining the others at the table; Rocket sat down, but before (Y/n) could take her normal seat, Rocket grabbed her and pulled her onto his lap, (Y/n) throwing her arms around his neck.
Peter smirked. "You two have a good night last night?" He asked, smiling as (Y/n) buried her head into Rocket's chest.
"Yes, wonderful thank you." (Y/n) said happily, as she looked up at Rocket.
Gamora smiled at the pair, as Rocket kissed (Y/n) on the forehead. "Well next time you two have a good night will you keep it down a bit, I didn't get a wink of sleep." She said, kicking Peter under the table, as he tried not to laugh.
"I've heard herds of wounded beasts that make less noise than you two." Drax grumbled, as he shifted the food around on his plate.
"I think its lovely." Mantis sighed, as (Y/n) chuckled, Rocket wrapping his arms around her tighter.
"I am Groot!" Groot called out, over from where he sat playing his games.
"Ok Groot, I'll learn to be quiet. I can't say the same for (Y/n) though." Rocket said, (Y/n) slapping him on the chest, as he lets out a deep laugh.
"Come on Rocket, you can learn to be quiet right now." (Y/n) said, jumping off his lap and pulling him back to the bedroom.
The rest of the team groaned, as the bedroom door shut behind the pair.
"Oh god, I created monsters." Peter laughed, until he remembered that someone was going to have to explain all this to her brother.
