ONE YEAR EARLIER,
Year 2037
RAIN CLOUDED up the sky, the atmosphere was dark and gloomy. Wanda walked into the graveyard with her hands in her coat as her two children followed by her side.
Yesterday had been the day final goodbye's had been said to Kol Mikaelson, a brother, a husband, and a beloved father.
The Mikaelson family was reunited but under a cause they never thought would have happened. Niklaus was the one to comfort Wanda the most, he never expected to lose his youngest brother so soon.
August 28th, 2037. A kind and bright soul had been lost.
Wanda wrapped her arms around her children as they approached his grave. Adira was trying to hold in her tears but couldn't when she saw her fathers headstone.
Wanda Mikaelson kneeled and ran her hand over her husbands name.
Adira hugged her twin and cried onto his shoulder. She blamed herself, maybe if she had been strong enough she could have saved her father. The young girl froze at the moment, she could barely move yet if she had her father would be by they're side.
The red head couldn't keep the tears from falling. Kol Mikaelson. The man she loved more than her own life, he gave her children she cared for, a family she had always hoped to have. Now, she was left as a widow, a single mother. Something she had never wanted to happen. Three weeks prior they had been talking about trying for a third child.
Wanda felt the exact moment Kol slipped away from her. In her mind she had always been able to reach for their bond, but now? Their was nothing to reach for. His presence was gone, he was gone.
The witch had spiraled out when she saw Kol's body disappear that night. She released all the built up anger and anguish. She had shielded her children but aimed it all towards the woman who took the father of her children away.
Ever since, she had been back to step one with controlling her powers.
"What happened wasn't either of your faults." Wanda finally spoke out.
Adira faced her mother, "Your father made the choice. It was his, you two were his whole world. I know he did not regret the sacrifice he made." Wanda weakly smiled.
The twins wrapped their arms around their mother. "We have to be strong for him. He's watching over us. I don't doubt it."
And surely he was. His spirit only lingered a few feet away watching his family. He had a broken smile embedded on his face. He didn't plan on leaving them so soon, but the universe had other plans. But for his children he would do it all again.
"Come on, your aunt's and uncle's are coming over." Wanda sniffed. The family started to leave and Kol watched as the three people he loved most in the world, walked away from him.
Rebekah had been the second one to take the news. She had collapsed on the floor as Marcel held her, over the last couple of years Rebekah and Kol had grown even closer then they had been before.
She always watched over the twins when Kol and Wanda couldn't.
The blonde cried even more when she saw the expressions of her niece and nephew. They were mourning.
Hope had spent the weekend with the twins in hopes of helping them out with the loss of their father.
But his would not be the only life lost, indeed the fall of the Mikaelson's had begun.
Two Months Later
"Did you find it?" Wiccan asked his twin. "Nope. Where would mom hide it?" Adira rummaged through her mothers closet.
Wiccan pulled out an old trunk with a fancy M embedded in it. He blew away the dust and struggled to open it up but finally managed. The young boy looked inside and smiled brightly, "Found it!"
Adira quickly turned and slid over to her brother's side. Her face lit up. The darkhold, their mothers grimoire.
"Okay, step one done. Now we have to find the spell." the brunette girl smiled.
Wiccan opened up the pages, the spell book was old and a bit damaged. "Okay, what spell do we need?"
"Uh, look for one to contact someone from the past."
Wiccan looked over at his sister, "You want to contact mom from the past?"
"Yeah, if it goes right maybe we could reverse dad's death."
"I don't know Adira. Neither of us have mom's type of magic. These spells are hard to perform."
"Wiccan. Your powers are literally taken from her. If anyone can do it, it's you."
The boy looked uneasy, "Have you seen mom's powers? She's like one of the strongest people alive. Does it look like my powers are that advanced?"
"With practice, yes. Wiccan, all I can do is read minds and speak to people telepathically. I can't do this, but you can, you give yourself too little credit. You're really powerful." Adira smiled at her twin.
Wiccan looked back down at the spell, "Mom did teach me something we can use."
"Great!"
Adira felt footsteps approach, the young boy took down the barrier he had placed on the room so they couldn't be heard talking. The siblings threw the darkhold under the bed and took out a deck of cards just as the door opened.
It was their Uncle Nik, "What are you two doing in here?"
Wiccan raised the four cards he held in his hands, "What does it look like we're doing?" he said in a 'duh' tone.
Klaus narrowed his eyes at his nephews, "Uh huh. Downstairs, the table is set and you know how your mother gets when people don't sit on time."
The twins smiled and got up from their place on the floor, "Better be pasta." Wiccan huffed.
"It's meatloaf." Klaus lied as he held an evil grin.
"Oh come on!"
The hybrid walked downstairs as he heard his nephew sit down at the table, "Liar! It is pasta!" the boy shouted.
Klaus laughed loudly as he joined them at the table.
A Week Later
Adira was in her room reading the old superhero comic books that were once her father's. The door swung open and Wiccan stood there breathing heavily.
"Seriously Wiccan? Breaking my door once wasn't enough for you?"
"I can do the spell." the boy panted clearly out of breath. Adira closed her comic and walked towards her brother.
"What?"
"I can do it. I can contact mom."
The twins sat on Adira's bed, thankfully no one was home at the moment.
"I need you to take my hand. Don't let go because if you do I won't be able to keep you involved." the dirty blonde boy explained to her. Adira nodded and placed her hand on top on her brothers.
Wiccan took a deep breathe as he closed his eyes. He took slow and deep breathes. His eyes snapped open and they were a bright blue.
Adira watched with wide eyes as an image opened up in front of them. It was their mother, in a cabin? But it moved through the house and finally showed her astro-form that was practicing magic.
"Mom?" Adira breathed. They watched as Wanda furrowed her brows hearing the unknown voice.
Wiccan looked relieved it was working, "Mom, we need you." he called out to her.
"Mom! It's dad, he needs you." Adira shouted, she could hear them.
The scene faded and Wiccan winced as his eyes returned to normal, "I can't hold it for long. I'm sorry." the boy looked disappointed.
"Are you kidding? Wiccan, you were able to contact mom. That's incredible. I told you, you have more power than you think." Adira kindly smiled.
The boy smiled back, it was a step forward, because at least she heard them.
A Month After
"Are you sure Wiccan? I don't want you to overdue yourself." Adira told her brother. They were in their uncle Elijah's loft, they had stayed over for the weekend.
"I can do this. I'm sure." the boy had spent the entire month practicing the spell. Last night he was finally able to get it right. It was a chance to save their father, he was going to give all he had.
Adira gave him an encouraging smile as he held out his hands and his enchanting blue powers shot out hitting the atmosphere. His eyes lit up a fiery blue. Just as the portal finally opened up he grabbed his sister and jumped into the black hole.
Nothing could be seen at first, it was jus endless darkness. Until a doorlike passage opened up. Adira and Wiccan were pushed with great force and landed on solid ground.
The young girl groaned, "You couldn't have made our landing softer?"
"At least I actually got us here, Adira." Wiccan retorted as they stood and dusted themselves off. And of course, before them stood the Mikaelson family.
Well, at least the spell worked.
