The Choice of Which Road
Choices are presented to us so that we can learn more about ourselves and the people around us. They are there so that we can separate the good from the bad, while separating ourselves from certain people. Every choice you make leads you down a different path and sooner or later that path splits. It causes a chain reaction, forcing you to make another choice. You can think of it as a road. You make your way down the road until you reach a point where the road splits. You are presented with two options in front of you. If you choose to go right you end up back where you started. If you choose to go left you may find what you wanted or even needed. The options may even be vice versa. The point is, would you choose the path that will lead you to where you started? Or would you choose the path that will lead you towards the finish line?
The hardest choices we may be presented with may, in fact, be the best choice to make regarding the situation. However, it is always scary when it comes to making the hard choices we need to make. Every hard choice has different outcomes, some of which may not be the outcome we were hoping for or it may very well be the absolute wrong choice to make. Most times these choices are confusing. We may see a hard choice as the easiest option or we may see an easy choice as the hardest option.
When people start confusing things they start making the wrong choices. In different situations you may find that the wrong and hard choices are often chosen because it is viewed as 'the easiest way out'. The wrong and simple choices may be seen the same way. People sometimes choose to believe that if they have no understanding of what happens around them, others will not understand who they are.
On the other hand people are capable of making the best possible choices when all information presented is understood clearly. When they do that they improve their situation(s) drastically. Most of the time making the smartest choice is the hardest thing to do. There will always be people who constantly push us into making choices that will benefit them instead of us.
Doing as other people please may very well be the worst and most regrettable choice anyone can make. These are the worst choices because the other people do not live with the regret you may suffer from any choice. At the end of the day, past, present or future, we can never truly count on other people or their word. Every person you meet may leave when you need them the most or even go back on anything they may have said to you. In simple terms you may even say that they will leave you on the side of the road with nothing. We should always try to make choices for US.
Picking the option or choice that would improve YOUR life may definitely not be a people pleaser, but it is what everyone should do. Always aim to better YOUR situation in ways that will help YOU, not the other way around.
Choices made under pressure are not better than choices influenced by others. When making a choice under pressure you are choosing something with your eyes closed. Basically, you are standing at a crossroads, closing your eyes, spinning around and walking in any given direction. You don't know the name of the road you may take or the direction it may take you in. This would be referred to as "blind faith" in the unknown. A simpler way of putting it would be to say "taking a leap of faith".
From my own experience, I have learnt that every time I make a choice, I tend to second guess myself. This in itself can cause more problems than you may need at that time. Ultimately this may result in making a decision you will later regret. Most times you end up confused about the information presented in the future, circling back to making more confused choices. However, this doesn't usually last for too long.
Once again people may not understand the implications of making the wrong choice. If the situation is bad, the wrong choice could make it worse than it already is. In some cases it may even multiply the burden by 10. Once any choice is made there are no "take backs", no reset buttons and no "do-overs". Whatever consequence may arise you will have to deal with it.
An example of such would be the people who live locked up behind bars. They made the wrong choices more than once in their lives and are now stuck dealing with it for years. They might have had the option of choosing help, but decided it was not the best course of action.
The next time you are presented with a choice to make, think of it as choosing a route on a very busy road. A crossroad that could lead you to anything. Either one requires you to make a choice as to which route you will take.
There was someone who was something like a father to me that told me,
"Never expect life to be easy because it is always full of choices. Sometimes you will make the right ones and sometimes you will make the wrong ones. You must never forget to keep trying your best."
Those words are as true as your beating heart and no one is able to deny it.
