And as James took the first verse of Need You by Fireboy DML, a very terrible reaction busted out among the small crowd.

People began to crouch in pain, as their ears suffered badly from the ear splitting song that James was singing. He wouldn't notice this, as he was singing out loud passionately with his eyes closed.

Ayo could only wrinkle up his face, as he shook his head pitifuly. Some people who were strong enough to withstand James' terrible singing pulled out their phones to record. Amaka from where she sat, couldn't stand the terrible noise as she was so uncomfortable.

James kept singing. He didn't stop. He kept missing many notes and to top it all, he even got the lyrics all jumbled up. Even the DJ was shocked and disappointed with what he was hearing that he snatched the microphone from James after a minute of an awful karaoke.

James then came to full realisation of what just happened. He thought everyone would like it, but apparently they didn't. He thought what Feyi gave him would work, but now his throat felt even sore. He glanced at Amaka, and he could tell that she seemed very disappointed.

James felt bad, as he now stepped down from the deck.

"Hey everybody look." Ayo called out loud, as he took off his clothes.

What's Ayo doing? James wondered, and in no time, everyone's attention was now on him,

"Forget what you just heard, and focus on me, Amaka." Ayo boasted, looking straight at Amaka at the other side of the pool. "I am about to attempt your favourite swimming skill. The butterfly." Now he was at the side of the pool. Everyone gasped, and their phones were in a recording position.

"What? He can't swim. Oh my God. He can't swim." James repeated, and scurried down from the DJ's deck. Before he knew it, Ayo had already plopped into the pool, and his mouth went wide.

They were all waiting for Ayo to emerge and begin to swim, but instead, he started drowning.

Nobody neared him, even those in the pool stepped out like they were seeing someone having a seizure. That was how Ayo appeared in the pool, as he struggled for balance.

With increasing speed and the help of adrenalin, James jumped right into the pool, and pulled Ayo out with all his strength.

He laid him by the poolside, and banged on his chest.

Luckily, he didn't pass out, as he only coughed out water, and stared at the crowd that had begun to gather. He looked at James, who was now all wet, and a feeling of guilt washed over him.

"Okay, who invited you guys in the first place?" Amaka stormed out of the small crowd. Now looking down at James and Ayo, and glancing at everyone for an answer.

"That would be me." Feyi emerged behind her, with a baleful grin stuck on her face. "Sorry." She apologized, sarcasm dripping in her tone.

Amaka only shook her head, obviously not as mad at her as she was at James and Ayo.

"God, you guys are such, idiots!" Amaka spat out aggressively, which made James and Ayo's eyes sting.

"Why would you think, you singing, which was terrible by the way, would impress me?" She pointed at James, shamefully. "And you doing some stupid butterfly, would impress me?" Now she faced Ayo, who was still drying off his face.

"I'm not a music fan. Never been!" Amaka confessed, and a handful of the crowd gasped. "And I don't swim. That's why I'm in a dress." She made them all admire her beautiful clothing. "This whole... pool party was my boyfriend's idea." She added, and the boy whom James saw close up with Amaka earlier, stepped forward. Looking all feisty, handsomely tanned.

"You guys are literally the last guys I'd hang out with. Or even go out with." Amaka landed that hurtful blow without slowing down. "You guys should stick to pranks. Just don't bring them around me." She finished, and then stormed off in annoyance, with her boyfriend following with.

They helped each other up, and wished they could magically vanish, from the mocking eyes and phone cameras that surrounded them. Their gazes dashed straight at Feyi, who was beaming evilly.

"I told you I'll make you guys pay." She walked towards them. "Now the pranksters have been pranked." She drawled, and then strode out of their sight.

Slowy, the party began to come back to life, without acknowledging the presence of the Prank Kings.

James and Ayo now gazed at each other, not uttering a word.

They wanted to know who would go first. They both knew the blame fell on them equally. They betrayed each other's trust because of their common high school crush. But they weren't going to let what just happened get in the middle of their childhood friendship. Not now, not ever.

"I'm sorry, man."

"Me too," James agreed, and pulled Ayo in for a close up brotherly shake.

A smile morphed on their lips, and they all passed what happened as one big joke. Now they were laughing hard as they decided to make their way out. They weren't there for the fun of it anyways.

"You're a terrible singer. You know I've always told you that." Ayo laughed.

"And you couldn't even last two seconds in the pool." James teased back.

"Well, I'm glad we both tried out what we both suck at!" Ayo howled, and gave off a big laugh.

James could only agree, and then something dawned on him."I think we should delete our social media, and change schools."

"Definitely. We'll be new kings elsewhere." Ayo strongly agreed, in fear of the thousands of tags they would have gotten online with their embarrassing footage playing on a loop.
