There was no-one standing idly outside. They were all inside, as their voices could be faintly heard.
James and Lisa pushed open the twin doors, at the same time, and stepped straight into their fairly crowded lobby. All eyes on them. On James especially, as Lisa had already found her way out of view, and was probably on her way to her class.
Some faces observed James with admiration, as he was their role model. While others glared at him, like he was a bag of trouble, they badly wished to dispose.
James stepped on the white tiles with caution as he kept looking left and right, partly on the lookout for Ayo, and if any, a trap. In a school like that, with James and Ayo being students there, there was always one prank or trap awaiting anyone, anytime.
In no time, other students had already faced their lockers, leaving James to face his.
He peered at the metal compartment before him, like he had forgotten his combinations. Thoughts of his locker, being rigged with something was what usually went through his mind on a daily basis. Even though he changed his locks frequently, he didn't want to be caught off guard.
He took deep breaths, glancing sideways to see if anyone was evilly spying on him, and then slowly punched in his combinations. He slowly reached for the handle and he was now crouched, preparing for what was about to erupt from his locker.
He gripped the locker handle tight with the intention to pull it open, then something happened.
"Pow!"
James wheeled around swiftly, startled.
He was then relieved to see that it was only Ayo. He quickly caught his breath and then his mouth twitched.
"Very funny." James commented, and turned to face his locker.
"Dude, class is starting now. Get your things and let's go." Ayo urged.
He noticed that James looked hesitant in opening his locker, and in a split second, he pulled open his locker for him. Only to reveal James' books and other stuff, which he didn't see at first as he had already gone back to a crouching position.
"Dude, nobody can booby trap your locker. Don't you like... change the locks everyday?" Ayo itched his forehead, and then his crew cut. He had a very dark skin tone, with blood red lips. And he looked like a model in his uniform.
"You can't be too careful," James rose up, and then reached for a couple of books in his locker. He held on to them, and then shoved his backpack in it, and snapped it shut.
The students around had now disappeared into their respective classes, and James and Ayo sprinted into theirs. They pushed open the doors and without even greeting the teacher, who was busy with the book in his hand, they dashed to their seats. James sat in front of Ayo, at the last row in the class. The whole class still maintained their focus, with only a few looking at their direction with expressionless reactions.
Their class wasn't too muddled up. Only a few shelves with few books in them were placed at the sides of the class. There were a few charts on the wall ahead, beside an interactive board. The board boldly read, "Government." With a sub-topic under it and some notes.
"So what's the big plan?" James leaned back, and whispered for Ayo to hear.
"Wait for it," Ayo whispered back, as his gaze was fixed on the stout teacher in a grey shirt and black pants, before the class.
The teacher paced for a few moments and then faced the whole class.
"So class, open your textbooks to the page on the board." He ordered, without taking his eye off the book in his hand.
As the students flipped through pages of their textbooks, the teacher looked to take a seat.
And it was at that moment, that Ayo's eyes lit up, as he gave off a lopsided grin. With no-one watching, the teacher plopped into his seat.
Everyone was still focused on finding a page in their books, and it was then that Ayo tapped James for him to look up.
The teacher immediately dropped his book, looking all confused, with his brows drawn together. He peered down at his seat and wondered what was wrong.
"Why is this seat wet?" He asked, voice gruff, and all the students looked up.
They were all wondering what was happening and why their teacher was turning in his seat.
"Why can't I stand up?" He asked again, and the whole class snickered. "Why can't I stand up!? Why am I stuck to this chair!?" He yelled even louder.
And it was at that moment that everybody realized that their teacher had been glued to his seat.
There were lots of mixed reactions on everybody's faces but above all, they couldn't stop laughing.
The teacher kept trying hard to remove the chair from his body but he couldn't. The only option left for him was to seek help. And apparently, it wasn't from the students, who hadn't stopped mocking him. With the chair stuck to his butt, he limped out of class, cursing heavily under his breath.
