***the song mentioned in here is in the media part above

Cheryl almost said no, she was not about to get on the bad side of one Archie Andrews, but then she remembered that getting on the bad side of Luna was one million times worse.

So with a great amount of reluctance, she replied with a breathy, "Fine."

Luna frowned playfully, "You don't sound very enthusiastic."

It's because she wasn't.

At all.

Cheryl gave Luna a frown of her own, "My main goal in life is to get through high school easily and leave Riverdale to go to a nice college. You are making the former extremely hard for me."

Luna sent Cheryl a devilish smile, "You love me."

Cheryl scoffed, "Whatever makes you happy."

Luna grabbed her keys and coat, leading the way to her mom's car, "Mom, can we leave for a bit?"

Ophelia cried out from above the stairs, "Sure! Just be safe you guys! Stay out of trouble!"

"We will!" Luna called back, knowing very well that she was about to get herself into some trouble.

As she opened the door, she could have sworn she heard Cheryl mumble something under breath.

And she did.

"Jesus, you're Satan with pink hair and ripped jeans," Cheryl groaned, picking up her own coat.

Luna turned around as she opened the door, "After you m'lady."

"How polite," Cheryl curtsied jokingly, giving Luna her best smile.

"Even for Satan with pink hair and ripped jeans?"

As they pulled up to the hospital, Luna frowned a little bit.

All the memories from Riverdale seemed to come flooding back.

All the bad ones to be precise.

She suddenly remembered the reasons she had left in the first place, and the overwhelming joy she had once felt once she drove past the Riverdale sign was now replaced with a feeling of dread.

"What if this was a mistake," Luna said aloud, startling Cheryl a little.

For the past ten or so minutes, they had sat in a comfortable silence, nothing but the quiet sound of Elliot Smith playing in the background.

Luna chose the music, obviously, Cheryl would have never listened to that by herself, and she'd never admitted it, considering how much she had argued with Luna over the music before actually driving, but she kind of liked her indie and alternative music.

"What if what's a mistake? Coming to the hospital or..." Cheryl trailed off, not really wanting to say the word at the tip of her tongue.

When she heard of Luna's return, she had practically run the way to her house, she was so excited that she was back.

Again, a thing she'd never admit.

But she had also had this thought in the back of her head, one she ignored for a while.

What if Luna coming back to Riverdale was a bad idea?

What if, for some reason, Luna's return brought about another series of strange events.

She hated herself for it, but she was caving to the rumors.

The rumors of her being Riverdale's own bad luck charm.

"Riverdale," Luna finished Cheryl's sentence. "do you...do you want me here?"

"Of course," Cheryl put a hand on Luna's knee and she flinched a bit. "what's going on? Why are these feelings suddenly popping up?"

"I don't think they're new," Luna sighed. "I think I've been suppressing this idea for a while. I mean, I want to come back. But do you guys want me here? I'd understand if-"

"Ugh, Luna, of course, we would. We all love you so much. None of them as much as me, but they're pretty close," the girl beside Cheryl smiled faintly. "we all want you back."

"Okay," Luna nodded.

They sat in a resumed silence for a while, Angel In The Snow's guitar chords and Elliot Smith's voice the only audible things.

"Anyways, how about we go kick some Andrew ass, amirite?" Luna raised a fist and Cheryl made a face.

"How about you go kick some 'Andrew ass' and I stay in the car," Cheryl suggested unenthusiastically.

"Like a getaway driver?" Luna asked.

"Sure, like a getaway driver, but you won't be the one who's running," Cheryl laughed and Luna did too.

"Fine," Luna narrowed her eyes at Cheryl with a smile plastered across her face. "I hate you."

"Lies," Cheryl said under her breath, shaking her head at the gradually disappearing figure before her.

Luna walked into the gloomy building, it was surprisingly bright and welcoming, and all too familiar.

She trod cautiously to the front desk lady who gave her a wide smile, displaying a few gaps where teeth should have been.

"Hello there young lady," she took off her big reading glasses. "and how may I be of assistance today?"

Luna gave her an award-winning smile, "Well, I'm looking for a friend, or more, the father of a friend. Mr. Fred Andrews, is he still admitted here?"

The lady, whose nametag read 'Jones, Laurie', checked the hospital's database.

She looked up again, "Yes, he's still admitted here, what's your name, little lady?"

Luna grinned, "Luna, Luna Martinez."

"And are you of age yet, Ms. Luna?" The lady asked.

"No, ma'am, I'm sixteen."

Ms. Jones nodded, "Okay, that just means we can't take a photo for your I.D, here just sign this paper and I can print your visitors pass."

Luna took a pen and signed the paper, and then Ms. Jones printed her a visitor's pass with a sticky back that she smoothed down onto her chest.

"Don't get into any trouble now, have a nice day, Fred would be in Room 121. And if you see his son, Archie, tell him I said hello. God bless his family, I'm praying for them. All nice people, Fred didn't deserve that. Anyway, you're about Archie's age, do you know him?"

"Yeah," Luna nodded. "he's my friend. The reason why I'm here."

Ms. Jones smiled at her, "All right, well you be on your way now!"

Luna waved goodbye as she walked towards the room number that the lady had given her.

She knocked first on the wooden door, a patient file in the folder that was attached to it.

Luna waited a bit, and as she went to turn the doorknob, the door opened by itself, revealing the body of a large red-haired sophomore.

"L-Luna?" he stuttered. "what're you doing here."

"Visiting," she sent him a bone-chilling scowl, one that almost made him shit his pants.

Luna looked over his shoulder and smiled at Fred.

"Hey, there, you little kook. Thought I wouldn't see you visit me. I didn't know you came back. It wasn't for me, was it?"

Luna turned around and sent Archie a discreet side eye, one that he still was able to notice.

He got the message, they needed to talk after this.

Needless to say, he was not looking forward to that, but leaving would create much worse consequences than if he told her the truth.

"Hey, Dad, do you need anything?"

He used a different tactic to leave the room.

Fred shook his head, "No, I'm fine, but get Luna something, whatever she needs."

Luna looked down at Fred with a soft smile.

She craned her neck to look at the scared boy behind her, "Just a candy bar, maybe. That's it."

Archie nodded, "Any preference."

Luna shook her head, "Not really, get anything."

Archie took his bottom lip in between his teeth and hurried out the room.

Luna turned back to Fred and went to the other side of his bed to take a seat next to him.

"I'm leaving the hospital today," Fred announced, a smile on his face. "the food is shit here."

Luna groaned, "Ugh, I'm getting flashbacks."

He laughed, "Archie's mom is back. She's going to 'take care of me', I keep insisting that I'm fine and they don't need to worry about me, but they don't believe me."

"Well, you are in the hospital for a reason, Mr. Andrews," Luna tried to ration.

"I told you not to call me that," he warned and she put her hands up defensively.

"I'm sorry my parents raised me," she paused, realizing what she said. Her parents didn't  raise her, did they? "I'm sorry I was raised to be a polite person."

Fred scoffed, "Damn that family, always raising beautiful and polite little girls. You know I grew up with your mom and her sister right?"

Luna nodded.

"Well," Fred began, but he was cut off by the sound of the door opening.

"Sorry, did I interrupt?" Archie frowned and Fred shook his head.

"Not at all, take a seat next to Luna, I was just about to tell a story from high school."

Archie groaned, "Oh, here we go again."

Fred rolled his eyes as Archie took a seat next to Luna and handed her a yellow rectangle wrapped in paper with 'Mr. Goodbar' written in a neat brown font.

"When we were in high school, your mother and I used to date, Luna."

"Gross," Luna made a face and Archie laughed.

"It actually brought Archie's mom and me together, and then FP and your mom together. I guess it's fate, huh?"

Both kids nodded and looked at each other, a smile graced their faces as they listened to Fred reminisce.

"I think I did it out of spite mostly, but I did love her, for a short time. And then she cheated on me with FP," Fred chuckled.

Luna did not, "Why would my mom do that?"

"Yeah," Archie chimed in. "aren't you the least bit bothered by that?"

"No, because in a way I led her to do it purposely, I wanted her to, I knew how happy they would make each other, and they did. They made each other happy, but your grandma butted in, she never liked him from the start," Fred explained to Luna.

Luna raised an eyebrow and smiled when she felt the soft touch of a hand on her knee.

Archie's hand.

"When she was pregnant, all hell broke loose."

"So I've heard," both kids laughed at the same time.

"We tried to help her with anything she needed, whether it was money or a home, and eventually she just...well, she left Riverdale. None of us ever got to see you, and at first I actually thought you were mine," Fred laughed and so did Archie.

"So you and my mom..."

"Yep."

"Ugh!"

This made Archie nearly fall to the floor.

"She kept in contact with us any way she could, she always had a big heart and said that it would hurt too much to leave all of us behind completely, you're like her in so many ways, you know? And I feel like everyone keeps being drawn back here, not by the town itself, but by the people here."

"So what was the moral of this story?" Archie asked.

"The moral of the story is that I think you guys are bonding the same way all of your friend's parents and I bonded in high school. Who knows? Maybe you and Luna will end up dating, someday."

Luna gagged and Archie removed his hand from her knee to lightly push her shoulder.

"Anyway, tell me about you, Luna? How are things back in-"

Fred was never able to finish his thought, as the door opened, effectively ending the conversation as the nurse entered the room.

"I just need you, kids, to leave for two seconds okay? I need to run a few tests on Mr. Andrews and he'll be ready to leave at 3 today," she smiled kindly and both Archie and Luna got up from their respective chairs.

Each gave Fred a hug before they left the room.

Archie didn't look up at Luna crossed her arms and held her chocolate bar to her chest, leaning against the wall opposite him.

"Care to explain?"
