❝ enemies become family in time ❞

HE HONESTLY DIDN'T know what to do. Stefan was pretty sure Damon was dying since he lied on the floor, groaning in pain and he was pretty sure he was next. The younger Salvatore had realized that the two men were a part of Melody's family. And it was easy to guess who was who considering Pan was the angriest, and Felix was trying to calm him down.
Never had the vampire been so afraid of someone before. But then it made him smile at the fact that the fairytale woman's family truly cared about her.
"Where is my daughter?" Pan yelled, holding Damon in a choke-hold with his magic.
"Peter," Felix spoke softly, trying to calm his husband down.
"Where is she?"
Stefan didn't know what to say. Melody was with him minutes before she disappeared along with Elena. "Okay, I get that you're upset, but we aren't going to find her if you kill him."
Pan looked over at him with — what could only be described as — a glare that would send him way more than six feet under. "Fine." He let go of Damon and the eldest vampire coughed and rubbed his neck. "So you're telling me my daughter is missing?"
"Yes. But she's not the only one."
"Let me guess," he scoffed. "That doppelganger-bitch is too?"
Damon rolled his eyes. "That's where she gets her personality from."
Pan glared, his eyes filling with rage. Felix put a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it gently to release the tension. He knew just how pissed the immortal leader could get. And he was not about to watch another bloodbath happen while his step-daughter was out there somewhere. What he couldn't understand is how she got caught in the first place.
"When did you last see her?" Felix asked Stefan.
"When she told me she was coming back here early," Stefan explained. "She was walking to her car. I got here not too long ago and then I didn't hear her heartbeat. That's when we realized that she wasn't here."
They all just stood there with different expressions before Stefan looked at Damon who was giving him a look. "No!" he denied, shaking his head. "No way."
Pan and Felix looked confused.
"Well if you have an idea, spit it out," Pan demanded.
———
Melody opened her eyes slowly, trying to get used to the bright lights before opening them completely. Her head was pounding and she winced, clutching it tighter. She looked around the room and realized that she and Elena were on a couch. The room looked rather old in her opinion. Elena was awake and there was a man next to them. It had then occurred to her that Elena was trying to fight him off and the man was walking towards Melody.
"Get off of her!" a woman yelled, flashing into the room and throwing him away from her. "Trevor! Control yourself. We can't hurt her. If we do, we're dead." Trevor mumbled something under his breath which Melody couldn't understand. He left and the woman went over to the fairytale woman who couldn't focus for the life of her. They had drugged her. Now she couldn't use magic. "You're not hurt are you?"
Melody blinked away the blurriness in her eyes and then managed to sit up. She scoffed with a roll of her eyes. "Thank you for your concern."
The woman looked nervous still. "You're not hurt, right?"
"No, I'm not." She looked relieved. "Who are you may I ask and why did you kidnap us?"
"Who I am is not important."
"Yes, it is. Don't tell me it's not."
But her words went ignored as the vampire smiled suddenly. "I still can't believe I am standing before you."
Melody raised an eyebrow, looking confused. Why is it that supernatural person knew who she was? How was it even possible? At this point, she honestly wouldn't be surprised if Katherine knew. Or maybe she did and Melody just didn't know.
"What do you want with us?" Elena questioned, standing up.
The doppelganger looked scared and the fairytale woman forced down an eye roll. She had been through being kidnapped before and this didn't even make the list of bad days she has had in her life.
"Look, I promise not to tell anyone. Please just let me go." Melody looked offended as Elena continued. "You can take her but please let me go."
Melody couldn't believe Elena, her mouth gaping in utter shock. Was she seriously going to trade her freedom for her's? She knew she shouldn't have become friends with the Gilbert. Why couldn't she just follow her gut like she usually does? One thing was for sure though, Melody was never going to do anything for Elena ever again.
"Are you serious!" she sneered, standing up despite her pounding head. "You little—"
The vampire intervened and then slap Elena hard, causing the doppelganger to collapse on the couch unconscious. "Don't worry, Miss. Nothing is going to happen to you. Just take a seat."
Melody nodded, still angry and unconvinced. "Sure. Let's just pretend I'm not being held captive by vampires."
She sat down on the other side of the couch and the vampire sent her a smile before turning and leaving. Once she was out of sight, the brunette attempted to conjure a fireball. All she got was a few sparks. Her mind was too fuzzy still. And even if she could escape, why would she? She was curious as to what they wanted. Melody laid her head in her hands, sighing deeply.
"I am so getting lectured."
———
Stefan had sat on one of the couch armrests while Damon stood by the fireplace, drinking a glass of blood. Pan and Felix and sat on the couch across from Stefan. Damon stayed clear of Pan, not wanting to get choked again.
"This has Katherine written all over it," Stefan started.
"You just told us that your idiot of a brother put her in the tomb," Pan pointed. To say he was worried was an understatement. Regina would be calling for an update soon and he knew once she found out Melody was missing, not only would she come to Mystic Falls, but nearly the entire town would.
Damon turned to face them. "That's because she is. Trust me—" Pan scoffed again. "—I'm the one who shut her in."
"Did you?" Stefan questioned with his arms crossed.
"Did I what, Stefan?"
"Well, I know the hold that Katherine has on you."
"She's in the tomb, period. End of story."
Pan was so close to killing him but the only thing that stopped him was the fact that if he killed Damon, Stefan wouldn't help them find Melody. The eldest vampire made a face when he realized something. "She did say something to me right before I shut her in. I thought she was lying."
The three others in the room looked unimpressed. Pan kept his glare in place at the raven-haired vampire. "I'm going to tear your tongue out and shove it up—"
"I get it!" Damon told him with his hand up in surrender. "Look, she said that Elena's in danger and that he will be coming for Melody."
Pan sprang up and was about to snap Damon's neck. Felix held his husband back while Stefan yelled at Damon, looking angry as well. "What? And you didn't think you should ask her to elaborate?"
"Everything she says is a lie," Damon replied. "How am I supposed to know if she's gonna start spouting out the truth?"
Stefan shook his head in disbelief. "We have to go talk to her."
Pan and Felix nodded in agreement while Damon argued, "No, no. Let me tell you how that's gonna go: We're gonna go ask her for help, she's gonna negotiate her release which we're gonna be dumb enough to give her and she's gonna get out and kill us! This is exactly what she wants!"
His brother shrugged. "I don't really care."
"It's a bad idea, Stefan."
"This is Melody and Elena we're talking about. So you can sit here and do nothing or help us. Your choice."
Stefan turned and motioned for Pan and Felix to follow. The three walked out the door and got into Stefan's car. But of course not before the father gave Damon the finger, scowling at him with so much anger. The married couple sat in the back while Stefan drove.
———
Melody had grown bored of just sitting there and doing nothing. She heard the two vampires upstairs talking and her curiosity got the best of her, as it usually did. Elena was still unconscious when she stood up and made her way to the stairs.
It bugged her by the fact that the woman she had yet to learn the name of seemed so nervous as to if she was injured or not. Why would she care? And why would the vampire treat her as if she was a queen or something? The only time Melody recalled someone calling her "Miss" was in the Enchanted Forest with Regina. That was when she was royalty.
"You didn't touch her, did you?" the female vampire questioned.
"No. You know what would happen if I did. He would know and then I'd be dead," Trevor replied. Melody reached the top of the stairs and peeked inside the room. "So, you called him?"
"No, I called one of his contacts," she told him. "You know how this works."
"Did you or did you not get the message to Elijah?"
"They say he got it."
"Wonderful and what?"
Melody started to walk down the hallway quietly, thanking her good hunting skills for giving her silent steps. She flexed her fingers and a spark of fire already appeared in between them. A frown appeared on her face when it didn't turn out to be very much still.
"So that's it, Trevor. He either got it or he didn't. We just have to wait."
"Look, it's not too late," Trevor told her. "We can leave it here. We don't have to go through with this."
The woman sighed, rubbing her temple. "I'm sick of running!"
"Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying."
"Elijah's old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free."
Melody cleared her throat and the two snapped her heads to them. The fairytale woman crossed her arms over her chest with a serious look. She had remembered the times when she would give the said look to one of the guards if she wanted something or if she caught them falling asleep. They would quickly compose themselves in fear of her telling her mother.
"Miss," the female greeted. Her voice made it sound as if she were caught in a lie. Melody took note of this and kept that on the surface of her mind. "Is there something you need? Are you hungry?"
"I'm fine, thank you." The two looked yet again relieved. "Who's Elijah?"
The two exchanged glances before the female vampire replied, "An ancient vampire."
———
Stefan had taken Pan and Felix to the high school to meet up with Bonnie. The youngest Salvatore had explained to the witch what was going on and introduced the two fairytale characters. Bonnie looked sympathetic after Stefan pleaded for her to undo the tomb spell.
"I can't undo the tomb spell, Stefan." She sighed with a guilty expression. "Even if I wanted to. It took both me and my Grams to undo it the first time."
"But we can open the door, right?" Pan questioned with a raised eyebrow. "We can still talk to Katherine without letting her escape?"
She nodded. "Yeah but Damon's right. She's not gonna tell you anything, not without something in return."
"We know but Bonnie we have to do something," Stefan stressed. "We have no idea who has Elena and Melody; we have no idea where they are."
There was a long stretch of silence before Felix cleared his throat, speaking up and getting out of his comfort zone. "What about a locator spell?" he asked quietly.
Everyone exchanged a look before Bonnie agreed, nodding. They took Felix's idea and went to Alaric's empty classroom. Pan and Bonnie were going to do the locator spell and Felix set the room up. He put a map down and two candles on a table.
"Alright." The Bennett looked up at the seemingly teenage boy. "I'm not that good with magic yet so..." she trailed off.
"Well it sucks to be you, doesn't it?" He replied with a sarcastic smile. "Just don't put too much of your energy into the spell. We don't need you screwing this up."
She nodded, trying to act like he didn't offend her. "I'll have to use your blood to draw the energy. We don't know if your magic will work and we can't risk being found out if it doesn't."
Stefan entered the room and walked over to the table to the other three. "Alright, Alaric said we've got to clear out of here within ten minutes. I've got weapons, he stocked me up."
Pan cut his hand open and let the blood fall onto the map. He and Bonnie linked hands and she began to chant. The blood drops merged into one and it glided across the map. It stopped and they unlinked hands.
Bonnie pointed. "There. That's where they are."
Felix peered over, moving his finger along the map. He frowned. "That's 300 miles away."
"We need a more exact location than that," Stefan added.
Bonnie shook her head. "That's the closest we can get."
"We can map it," Felix suggested. "An aerial view should show us what's around there, help us narrow down the area."
The former second in command had grown to like the technology of the twenty-first century. He had spent hours just researching programs and finding out how they worked. Pan had supported him the entire way and he always listened when Felix ranted to him about the technology. And the former Neverland leader found himself being interested in it as well. But Melody? She thought it was the cutest thing when she showed them her laptop and all they did was poke the screen.
"Why isn't it working?!" Pan had exclaimed in annoyance.
Melody, who was fifteen at the time, laughed with a huge smile. "It's not a touchscreen, dad. You need to use the mouse to click on things."
"WHY WOULD I USE A MOUSE?"
"Perfect," Stefan said, bringing the leader back to reality. "Start looking. We'll be leaving as soon as we can."
Felix nodded and got out his phone, already searching the area. Pan held his husband hand in worry and Felix squeezed his hand back, sending him a smile that said: "don't worry". Damon walked into the room and they all looked at him. "Well, let's go."
Stefan raised an eyebrow. "You're coming with us?"
"This is Elena and Melody we're talking about."
———
So it was settled: Bonnie had gone to the Gilbert house to keep an eye on Jeremy while Pan, Felix, Stefan, and Damon drove to the location. Felix was still combing through the map with Pan sitting in the backseat with him.
"I think I found it," the dirty-blonde male spoke up. He gave the phone to Stefan. "There's nothing for miles except for one abanded house. If I had to guess, that's where they're keeping them."
"Hey, how much further is it?" Stefan asked.
"From where we are? About 80 miles."
Stefan thanked him and gave the phone back. He looked over at Damon. "Who do you think took them?"
"Someone from Katherine's past," Damon answered with a shrug. "She said she was running from someone. They got the wrong doppelganger but that doesn't explain why they would take Melody."
"Just so you know," Pan spoke up. "If my daughter is dead. This entire town is dead, including you two. Running is pointless."
Damon smiled forcefully. "That's comforting."
———
Melody followed after the vampire who she learned was named Rose. Rose was careful what to say around her even though she knew the fairytale woman would keep pushing until she got the answer she wanted. Rose had explained to her all about Elena and the sacrifice. Elena had ended up eavesdropping which ended up in her being unconscious again on the couch.
"If you only need Elena? Why am I here?" Melody asked as she followed Rose.
The vampire stopped in one room and turned to her. "You don't know yet do you?" She glared in response. "It isn't my place to tell."
"Why is that the same answer I've been getting every single time? I'm done waiting around. How do you know about me?"
"I can't tell you, Melody. I'm sorry. But once Elijah comes he will tell you everything you need to know, alright?"
She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest. "What makes this Elijah so damn special? He's just a vampire." She was getting fed up with all of the secrets. Her whole life was full of secrets that were kept from her and she resented it when someone kept something from her nowadays. Melody knew that she was apart of something much bigger than she'd given credit for. And the brunette wanted to know what it was.
"He's one of the oldest vampires, the Originals," Rose told her.
"The Originals?" She made a face. "Sounds like a really cool tv show."
Rose sighed, smiling a bit at her joke. "Again, Melody. I've already told you too much. Elijah will explain everything once he arrives."
Trevor entered and the two turned to him. "Are you always this curious?" Melody narrowed her eyes at him with an indignant expression. Rose gave him a warning look. "What do you want to know?"
She shrugged a bit. "So the two of you are running from the Originals." She used her hands as she spoke. "Who are they? I'm guessing that they are the first vampires ever?"
"The first family, the old world," he added. "Rose and I pissed them off." Rose cleared her throat and he corrected himself. "Correction, I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for over half a millennium, they wanted us dead."
Melody continued to let her curiosity fill her questions. She wanted to know the truth. She needed to know the truth. "What did you do?"
"He made the same mistake countless others did: he trusted Katerina Petrova," Rose revealed.
She made another face, nodding along with the words. "Sounds about right. That bitch knows everyone."
"I helped her escape her fate and now I've—" Trevor started. Rose gave him another look and he corrected himself again. "Sorry, we've been marked ever since."
"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again," Rose added with a nod towards him.
Melody couldn't help but smile slightly, seeing the way the two acted like family. And she admired that immensely. "I don't blame you. I can't imagine having to run for that long."
Rose smiled sadly. "If only you knew."
———
"We're getting close," Felix told them, looking up from his phone. "There should be an access road just past mile marker six." Stefan nodded and kept his eyes peeled for the sign.
Damon took a blood bag from the seat next to Pan and started to drink it. Stefan looked over at him and his brother noticed. "If you want some, just ask."
"I want some."
"Ah, that's so sweet. You're gonna be all big and strong and save your girl but don't worry, I've got your back. It'll be fine."
Stefan shook his head and Felix and Pan watched from the backseat. "I'm not joking," he told his brother. "I've been drinking a little every day. I'm slowly increasing my intake and building up my strength."
Damon still looked hesitant but then gave it to him. Stefan started to drink slowly and the raven-haired vampire smirked. "Does Elena know you're drinking blood?"
"Yes. But she's not happy about it." He seemed a bit nervous before he continued on. "I've been drinking Melody's."
Pan looked furious, his eye twitching in anger. "Excuse me? You were going to tell me this when?"
Stefan shrugged. "I figured she would tell you. It was her idea so don't blame me."
———
Rose had led Melody back to the living room where Elena was now awake. The two humans sat on the couch while Rose went around the room, packing her things. She looked nervous, worried even, and Melody felt bad for her. Trevor entered the room looking frantic. "He's here! This was a mistake."
Rose went over to him. "No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me."
"No! He wants me dead, Rose!"
"He wants them more."
Elena started to look scared and she brought her knees to her chest. Melody watched the two best friends with a sympathetic look.
"I can't do this. You give her to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here," Trevor said.
Rose stopped him and put her hands on his shoulders. "Hey!" He looked at her. "What are we?"
He stared at her for a moment before calming down. "We're family, forever."
Melody smiled sadly. Someone knocked at the door and they all looked over. Rose looked over at them and then at Trevor. "Stay here with them and don't make a sound," she instructed.
She left the room and Elijah opened the door. Rose walked down the stairs and greeted him. He looked up to meet her eye. "Rose-Marie," he smiled. "Is there somewhere we can talk?"
"Yes, in here," she said, allowing him to step inside. "You have to forgive the house."
"Oh, no, what's a little dirt? I completely understand. So tell me, what is it that gives you the courage to call me?"
They walked into one of the rooms and Rose took a deep breath. "I wanted my freedom," she told him. "I'm tired of running. You in a position to grant me that?"
The Original hummed thoughtfully, his eyes wandering around the room for a moment. "I have complete authority to grant pardon to you and your little pet. What is his name these days? Trevor. If I so see fit."
Rose followed him further into the room. She knew she had to be careful. "Katerina Petrova?"
"Do you have her in your possession?"
"No, but I have better. I have her doppelgänger."
Elijah shook his head. "That's impossible, her family line ended with her. I know that for a fact."
"The facts are wrong."
"Well, show her to me."
She sighed, clasping her hands together to calm her racing heartbeat. "Elijah, you are a man of honor, you should be trusted but I want to hear you say it again."
"You have my word that I will pardon you."
That's when she took another deep breath. Rose knew that if she told Elijah, it could potentially endanger her life and Trevor's. But then at the same time, it could grant their freedom. "Then there's something else you should know." Elijah looked curious and gestured for her to continue. "We found her as well. The girl from the fairytale."
Elijah flashed over to her and Rose jumped. "You better not be lying to me Rose-Marie."
"I'm not. We found her with the doppelganger."
"Show me."
Rose nodded that time, knowing it was better not to argue about this. She led him out of the room and into the main room. Melody and Elena heard and the doppelganger looked scared. Elijah looked at her and flashed over. He grabbed Elena and smelt her neck.
"Human," he realized. "It's impossible." He let her go and then looked over at Melody who was watching with a confused and curious look. Elijah smiled at them. "Hello there. And you must be Melody." He went over and pulled her up to stand. He kissed the top of her hand with his smile still in place. "It is so nice to finally meet you."
Melody raised an eyebrow. "It's nice to meet you too I guess."
Elijah looked pleased and then let go of her hand. "I will explain everything to you on our journey. Speaking of which, we should be going."
Elena looked at Rose, pleadingly and Melody rubbed her forehead. She completely forgot that Pan and Felix would've arrived that night. Which meant that they were probably freaking out and now, she would have to go home if they found her.
"One last piece of business and we're done," Elijah told the girls.
He went over to Trevor who looked afraid of the Original. "I've waited so long for this day, Elijah," he said. "I'm truly, very sorry."
"Oh no, your apology's not necessary."
"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you."
"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor. Where was your loyalty?"
He started to circle around Trevor as the younger vampire replied, "I beg your forgiveness."
"So granted."
Trevor smiled but it didn't take long for Melody to realize what was going to happen. She turned her head away as Elijah smacked Trevor's head clean from his body. Rose cried out in shock and Elena took a sharp intake of air. "You!" Rose cried.
"Don't, Rose, now that you are free," Elijah told her. Rose fell to the floor crying and the Original looked over at the two girls. He saw that the older woman was looking away. "I apologize Melody, but that had to be taken care of. Now come, time to go."
Melody went to follow before Elena spoke up. "What about the moonstone?"
The fairytale woman turned and glared. She hissed, "Elena."
Elijah looked intrigued, walking over to them. "What do you know about the moonstone?"
"I know that you need it and I know where it is," Elena told him.
Melody rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. She wanted to kill Elena right then and there. The doppelganger had done enough and now she was playing any card she had left. It was pathetic to her.
"I can help you get it," Elena continued.
"Tell me where it is," Elijah demanded.
"It doesn't work that way."
"Are you negotiating with me?"
Melody laughed humorlessly. "Pretty sure she is. She's just an idiot like that."
Elijah looked over at her but the woman wasn't going to tell him anything, he knew that. He had heard that she was stubborn. And he also knew that his brother would find that part of her intriguing. Klaus had told his brother that getting Melody would be a challenge.
The Original looked back at Elena and then tried to compel her. But he realized it wouldn't work. He looked at her necklace with a grimace. "What is this vervain doing around your neck?" He ripped off her necklace and threw it away. He grabbed her head and then compelled her. "Tell me where the moonstone is."
"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins," Elena answered.
"What is it doing there?"
"It's with Katherine."
He looked back at Melody who had sparks of fire in between her fingers. Elijah had heard that on top of her stubbornness, Melody was protective. She cared about her family dearly and he and Klaus both admired that. Though Elijah knew better than to voice that, knowing Klaus would become paranoid into thinking that Elijah was interested in her.
Glass broke and they all looked to the stairs.
"What is that?" Elijah questioned.
Melody didn't even have to blink twice to know that it was their rescue squad coming to their aid. She sighed in annoyance, hating that she had to be saved even though she was at this abandoned house by choice, seeing as she could leave if she really tried. "Hell if I know."
Elijah looked at her. "Do you always curse so much?" She simpled smirked at him with a tiny shrug. He then glanced at Rose. "Who else is here?"
"I don't know."
He grabbed Elena and he went to Melody. "You do not need to fear me. I will not hurt you that is my promise. I give you my word. But you cannot run." Melody nodded slowly. Elijah then took them into another part of the house. Stefan and Damon flashed around the house with their super sped and Elijah threw Elena into Rose's arms.
"Up here," Stefan taunted.
Elijah went up the stairs with super speed and then Damon spoke up. "Down here."
Elijah then got a stake in his hand and then removed it. In the meantime, Stefan grabbed Melody while Damon grabbed Rose and Elena. Elena sighed in relief while Melody became worried. They were going to kill Elijah and she didn't want that. He was going to tell her the truth. She would finally know the truth, it was just within her reach.
"Excuse me," Elijah called out. "To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" He broke a wooden coat rack into a stake. "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girls, I'm gonna count to three or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"
Melody pushed Stefan away and ran over to Elijah. "Elijah watch out!"
He turned to her but then Damon sped out and staked Elijah. Melody screamed and Damon pushed the Original to the door. Elijah's skin turned gray and his head fell to the side. Melody yelled, enraged. Rose sped out of the house before things got bad for her.
The brunette glared at Damon and then threw him back with her magic, finally getting her energy back. Damon went flying through the window. Melody walked through the window and saw Pan and Felix running over from where they waited by the car.
Elena ran out with Stefan and Melody stormed over to Damon, looking furious. "You killed him!" She used her magic to throw him to the ground.
"Melody stop! You're hurting him!" Elena protested.
Melody snapped her head to him. "You have no place to talk. You're the one who tried negotiating your freedom for mine, you back-stabbing bitch."
Stefan looked shocked and Pan went over to his daughter. "Melody," he spoke softly. She looked at him and her anger faded. "It's okay. Calm down."
Melody shook her head, scoffing in disbelief. "He was going to tell me the truth. I would've known the truth if he wouldn't have killed him." Tears filled her eyes but she fought them. "Someone is out there trying to protect me and I want to know why and who."
Pan went to her and embraced her and she didn't fight back. "Why don't we go home, yeah? Regina is probably worried sick."
Melody pulled away, shaking her head. "No. I can't leave. Not until I know the truth."
"Princess—"
"No!" Pan saw the look on her face. "I have to know dad, please. I deserve to know. We deserve to know." He looked over at Felix who was giving him a knowing look. They did deserve to know the truth. After all, it is what tore their family apart.
———
They had gone back to the Boarding House and Melody had taken a shower, got in new clothes, and had eaten something. Stefan had taken Elena home and Damon was somewhere, Melody didn't know where.
Pan and Felix stood on the porch of the Boarding House, Melody in front of them.
"Are you sure you want to stay?" Felix asked her.
She nodded, rubbing her shoulders since it was a bit chilly out. "Yeah. I need to find out the truth. And the only way I can find that out is if I stay here. Besides, they're going to need my help anyway."
"They don't deserve your help," Pan pointed out.
Melody smiled. "Some of them do. But really, I'll be fine."
Pan sighed. "Just call if you need anything. And I expect updates." Normally he would sit there and argue until he got what he wanted. But even he knew what this meant for his daughter, what this meant for their family. This could relate to her curse somehow.
She laughed and then hugged him. "Will do."
Felix then hugged her when she and Pan pulled apart. Once they finished their goodbyes, the two went to the car. Melody watched them and waved at them. They smiled at her before getting in their car and driving off.
Melody turned around and closed the door. She went over to the couch and her phone rang from where it was on the coffee table. The brunette saw the unknown number and smiled. She answered it and put it to her ear. "It's good to see that you're still breathing."
Elijah smiled on the other line. "May I ask as to how you knew that I wouldn't die."
"I can feel how powerful you are. Trust me, a vampire as old as you wouldn't die so easily." She looked smug as she poured herself a drink and then sat down. Melody took a stip and held the glass in one hand with the phone to her ear with the other. "So. You gonna tell me the truth or what?"
"Some other time. I want to tell you face to face." Melody sighed dejectedly. "I gave you my word, Melody. You will learn the truth. And if there's one thing I can tell you about myself is that I always keep my word."
"Fine. But I'm going to hold you to it." She set her glass down. "Goodnight, Elijah."
She hung up the phone and finished off her glass. Melody got up and went to go to her room when someone flashed into the house. She stopped and turned to see Rose. "Rose? What are you doing here?"
The vampire looked hesitant. "It isn't over, Melody. The Originals, they'll come for you and Elena. Even though they care about you more it doesn't matter, they won't stop. They're doing it for him."
Melody took a deep breath, goosebumps rising on her skin. "For who?"
"Klaus."
———
