A gasp escapes my lips as I open my bathroom door to it being occupied by a werewolf stranger about to step into my shower. I drop my towels in frustration and rush out of my bedroom and down the stairs to greet the woman behind all of this in the courtyard.

"I was fine with the werewolves staying here but not when they're about to leave the smell of wet dog in my shower." I tell Hayley, crossing my arms at her.

She turns around after having a talk with a few of them and gives me a look. "Remind me not to piss you off in the morning."

"Hayley." I warn.

"All the bathrooms were taken so I told Shelby she could use your bathroom." Hayley tells me and starts walking away. I follow after her, "I'll let it slide for now but, my bedroom and bathroom are off limits after this, okay?"

"Fine, Maya." she says with a shrug. I take a deep breath in and out and mentally question her lack of attitude. I expected her to bark something back.

"Brother! Niklaus!"

Elijah steps into the courtyard in his usual suit and tie, his facial expression of determination. "You do realize that literally everyone in here, except Maya, has supernatural hearing, right?" Hayley tells him.

Elijah ignores her and goes back to his original question, "Where is my brother?"

"I'll check his calendar... Wait, no. I don't care where he is. Why don't you ask his wife?" Hayley sarcastically asks and points to me. Elijah looks at me with raised eyebrows, waiting for answer.

"He said something about finding Davina? He was on his way leaving when I woke up." I tell him and he nods, thanking me.

Elijah turns to Hayley and starts talking to her about how the city is under siege and her army of beast. I walked away before I could get caught up in another one of their arguments.

When I re-enter my bedroom, the werewolf girl was long gone in my bathroom and I was thankful for that. My phone blares on the nightstand and I pick it up, answering it with a hello as I sit on the edge of the bed.

"If I text you my location, will you save me from this horrendous predicament I put myself into?"

I laugh, "What happened, Klaus?" I ask and immediately find a jacket and slip on some pair of shoes.

"Well, I sufficiently planned on using Camille to find Davina's whereabouts and she seemed to have trapped me in her car whilst she sits at a parish bar."

"Okay," I reply and grab my purse and car keys before exiting the compound. We say a few words and end the conversation with our goodbyes.

§

I arrive at the Terrebonne Parish Bar a lot less quickly than I anticipated due to the fact that I'm still not familiar with the streets of New Orleans.

I search for the very few cars in the parking lot and find them all empty. Sighing, I enter the bar and my eyes scan the room, immediately stopping at particular duo dancing.

I try not to show my erupting anger as I approach the two of them. My heels were loud enough to bring attention to Camille as she widens her eyes and steps away from Klaus.

"Oh, Maya, it's a coincidence you're here." she says, but I ignore her and stare right back at Klaus who seems to have no expression on his face.

"I heard this place had good reviews." I take a lie from the top of my head.

"I-I'm going to go freshen up." Camille says and then looks at Klaus, "Don't even think about touching her." she points at him then walks to the public restrooms before he could utter a word out.

"I didn't think she was the type to have that much authority over you." I fold my arms at him. "Maya—"

"What did I just walk into?" I cut him off and he takes a seat at the bar and I follow after him. "Camille was trying to prove a point."

"A point? Yeah, let me grab a random guy here and dance with him to see how long you'll last without ripping his head off."

"I do not understand your frustrations. It was a silly dance to further prove her point."

"You don't understand my frustration?" I nearly laugh. "Klaus, she likes you. I thought that was obvious."

"You're being ridiculous, Maya. I am sure she is well aware of our relationship by now." Klaus tells me.

"She doesn't know. For someone who has lived a thousand years, you sure seem clueless." I remark. His eyes squint slightly as he glares at me then his eyes brighten as if he thought of something clever.

Klaus leans in closer to me, "Then perhaps we should give her a night to remember." His lips reaches centimeters from mine but I turn my head slightly, "What are you doing?"

"She's bound to find out, love." he grins, "Right now seems like the perfect time to show her the truth."

"That's-that's just mean, Klaus. You danced with her not even five minutes ago."

"I do not care what she thinks, Maya. You are mine and I am yours. She must know that." he tells me with a growing smirk. I look down at my fiddling fingers and then back into his eyes. "She's my friend."

"And you are not a very good one. You say she fancies me yet you have not told her the truth."

"It's complicated." I tell him truthfully and let out a deep sigh. "I haven't—" My lips were soon sealed shut with his and subconsciously melt into the kiss. My racing thoughts and worries wash away with his one touch to the point where I nearly forgot we were in public.

"What the hell?!"

I pull away from Klaus' lips and by the smug smile Klaus was giving, he knew Camille would walk in on us. I look at her and gulp slightly. I don't know why I feel like I betrayed her. Klaus is mine and she had to find out sooner or later.

The look on her face didn't make me feel any better. Her pale skin growing pale and her widened eyes glisten in the light. Her lips slightly open in shock along with her body movements that were frozen.

Klaus raises his eyebrows at me and his fingers motion for me to take on the show while he sits and watches. I stand up from my barstool and give Camille a half-hearted smile. "Surprise?"

"What is going on?! I-I thought you had a boyfriend? Nick?" She spits out through her frozen state.

"I do," I answer with truth and point to Klaus who still has a smirk lingering on his lips, "meet Niklaus."

Camille doesn't say anything and I was starting to question her next move. She fixes her posture and throws on a look of confidence before making her way over to Klaus' spot.

I barely had time to register when her right hand comes in contact with his cheek. His face stays still for a moment until his brave eyes meet hers. "What is wrong with you?!" Her voice showed anger and hurt.

"What, now you're not going to say anything?" Camille questions after a long pause. Klaus stands up from his seat and she steps backwards, still holding the confident mask on her face.

"You set yourself up for disaster, Camille. I never once showed affection towards you. Perhaps you should use your psychology tricks up to good use and try it on yourself."

I open my mouth slightly in shock by Klaus' words that came from his mouth. She doesn't respond back and I can tell his rude remark hit her harder than it should've.

"Cami, I'll just be straight out honest with you since I haven't been this entire friendship." I start and walk closer to her but still keeping my distance. "Klaus and I have been together for almost three years."

"Three years?" she says in disbelief. "Why didn't you tell me?! I-I am embarrassed for not knowing."

My eyes travel to Klaus, who looks very impatient at the moment. "I thought you knew. I noticed how close you've gotten with Marcel, I assumed my relationship with Klaus slipped in a conversation." I tell her truthfully.

"As much as I would love to go down memory lane and remember my first moments with Maya—"

"It's not a very good memory." I say with a tight smile and he gives me a look before finishing his sentence, "...I have more important matters to attend to like killing my father." he grins.

I blink once and by the time I open my eyes, I am standing right next to my car parked outside the bar with Klaus by my side. He lets go of my waist and sticks out his hand. "Keys?"

I pull out my keys from my purse and hand them to him. My fingers open my passenger side door and I take a seat and wait for Klaus to do the same. He starts the car and drives to our questionable destination.

"Do you even know where to go?" I ask him as soon as we pull out of the parking lot. "Yes, Maya. I have known since Camille got off the phone with Davina. I don't know why I bloody came to this bar in the first place when I had my answers." he mutters the last part.

"She's going to follow us, you know." I say and stare out the window to watch the trees pass by. An object gets thrown on my lap and I look down to see Klaus' car keys sitting there. I pick it up and observe it. "Did you seriously leave her at the bar by herself?"

"She was going to risk my very exquisite plan to murder my own father so, precautions had to be made."

§

It was now nighttime and Klaus finally pulled up to our desired destination at a cabin, presumably under Davina's family name. Klaus puts his finger to his lips to indicate quiet.

I step out of my car and close my passenger door softly to avoid any loud noises. Klaus stands beside me as we walk up onto the porch. The lights are on inside, but there's no one insight. "Can you hear anything?" I whisper to him.

He shakes his head and continues to search through the windows. His hand grasp into mine and we pull away from the porch. I had an odd feeling about this.

"I suppose my suspicions were wrong." Klaus concludes, referring to what his ears heard when he was listening to Camille's phone call to Davina and I let go of his hand and cross my arms in the process. "I don't-I don't think they were."

Klaus doesn't say another word and instead he walks forward around the yard. He grabs a wooden staff that's impaled into the ground and yanks it out. I make my way over to him as curiously hits.

"What is that?" I inquire as I look at the crest that's implanted on the staff. "It is a carving of my family's clan. My father is here." He answers quickly before turning his attention to me. "Maya. Wait in the car."

"What? No!"

"Love, it is too dangerous for you to be out here. My father will not hesitate to rip your heart out." he tells me in a low tone. I look up at him, "Klaus, I will not let you battle this alone."

"Maya. Please." Klaus' eyes bore into mine and with the help of the moonlight, I can see his face in the dark night and how concerned he is for my safety.

I nod once and stroll my way back into the car without another word. I can't let him do this alone, so, the minute Mikael steps through those doors, I will give him something to remember.

I close the car door and sit peacefully as I watch Klaus angrily throw the wooden staff through the window. The glass shatters to pieces and moments later, Mikael steps out of the cabin with the indestructible white oak stake.

I can hear Klaus' faint shouts from the car but that doesn't hide my underlining fear due to the very deadly weapon in his father's hand.

My eyes can only find them inaudible speaking before Klaus lunges at Mikael and the fight begins. Mikael kicks Klaus flat down to the ground and begins to choke him from above, nearly reaching the white oak stake to Klaus' heart.

Fear coats the adrenalin running through my veins and I exit out of the car, grabbing whatever branch I could from the ground and run toward them. My feet comes to a halt when I reach their area, none of them having a clue I entered their premise. Mikael still has an advantage over Klaus, using his hands to keep him in choke-hold.

Before Mikael could use the white oak stake on Klaus, I use the branch I found and stab it in his back to catch him off guard. Mikael screams in pain and turns around to yank the piece of wood out of him.

He gets up off of Klaus and deep inside, I was glad he was now paying his attention on me instead of the man I love. "You!" he angrily shouts and steps over to me.

Nothing came out of my mouth as I stare at him in fear. I had nothing else to protect myself with and I was running out of options for safety. Mikael grabs onto my neck and holds me up high, causing my feet to dangle from above.

I breathe in sharply to get ahold of any ounce of oxygen I could get, but his grip continues to tighten with every demeaning word he could spit out. "I should have killed you years ago, stupid girl."

I tried to scratch away my freedom, but nothing was helping. His angry eyes never leave mine and I was beginning to accept that'll be the last thing I'll see. My vision grows foggy and the only thing I could feel was my thumping heartbeat.

Mikael's hands sudden release themselves from my neck and I collapse to the ground, inhaling the precious air I couldn't reach. I look up and see Mikael staring down at his chest, which is now occupied by the Papa Tunde's blade piercing into his skin. He falls forward unconsciously and the last thing I saw was Klaus' staring down at me before my eyes fade into nothing.
