I slowly open my eyes at the sound of knuckles clicking against the hardwood door that belongs to my bedroom. Glancing at the moon outside my window, I can already tell it's still the middle of the night.

I rip my covers off my body and walk away from my bed and towards my door, wondering who would want to wake me up from my slumber.

The second I turn the doorknob and fully open my door, warm arms wrap around my body, holding me tight in a hug. I let us stand here for a few moments, letting my hands secure him in place.

I pull away from his embrace with furrowed eyebrows, "Klaus, what's wrong?"

"I've been having dreams of my father. Safe to say, I am seeking your comfort." he confesses, his fingers lingering on mine. I widen my eyes in surprise. I haven't thought about Mikael since Klaus drove a white oak stake into his heart on Homecoming night.

A part of me wondered if he's having dreams of his father because he's afraid of becoming him once our child surfaces. Shaking my thoughts out of my head, I grab ahold of his arm and pull him to my messy yet warm bed.

"Just sleep with me tonight, okay?" I say and slip under the covers, waiting for him to do the same on the opposite side. "Love, it's alright. I shouldn't have woken you up." Klaus turns away and I shake my head, preventing him from leaving my room with the halt of my hands.

"Klaus, if there's one thing I promised you, it's that I would never leave you. That also includes me being there for you. Come here, please."

He obeys my orders and joins me on the opposite side. A familiar feeling came back to me, the feeling that was abandoned for months. He lays next to me, leaving an even amount of space between us.

It's complete darkness in my room minus the silver light shining down on us from the moon. The only sounds I heard were the leaves rustling from outside and our breathing.

Klaus leans down on his back whereas I have my body on my side, facing him. By the look on his face, I can already tell he's rethinking his dreams about Mikael.

"He's not coming back," I tell him and he turns his head towards me. "Your father's gone and he's not coming back." I repeat with a gentle voice. "You're nothing like him and you never will be."

When he says nothing, I pull my body closer to him and rest my head on his shoulder. I close my eyes and let sleep take over with nothing but the sound of his heartbeat.

§

"I know I haven't been around these parts lately. It's a testament to Father Kieran that we could come together and share a drink, and a story or two. Kieran rolled into town on a rusty old cruiser after his daddy died twenty-five years ago. And damnit, that guy could party! That was, of course, before he took his vows. But, even then, he was committed to the Quarter. He knew that this town needed him. And, we still do." Marcel finishes his speech, raising his glass, "To Father K!"

The audience below him murmurs, "To Father K."

I watch as he gets off from the chair and joins in from the rest of the crowd. My eyes then travel to Klaus beside me, who's drowning himself in whatever alcohol he can get his hands on.

I sit in a booth inside Rousseau's Bar as the rest of us honor Father Kieran's death. Or, at least everyone else honors and parties in the process.

Elijah joins the two of us in the booth, sending me a quick smile before returning to his brother. "Seems rather uncivilized to laugh and dance around the body of a loved one." Klaus speaks after a very long time of silence.

Elijah pours himself a drink, "Yes, far better to practice your process of grief, Niklaus—denial, rage, and hoarding coffins in basements."

I didn't even blink twice before Hayley joins us at the table and Elijah glances a look at her, "I will warn you, Hayley, Niklaus is in a spectacularly foul mood today."

Klaus throws his brother a look, "Sod off."

Hayley rolls her eyes and continues on what she was planning on saying, "What's the deal with these moonlight rings? Oliver's trying to set a revolution every five seconds. People are scared, angry, and frankly, I'm tired of stalling."

"It's a day of peace, Hayley. Try and enjoy it. And, in the meantime, with all manner of unknown enemies conspiring against our family, you'll move back in with us." Klaus renounce.

Hayley shoots him a sarcastic look, "Awesome! Then, we can do that thing where you lock me in the tower, I escape, there's drama, and then you two both realize I'm very capable of looking after myself."

"The rings are in progress. I will live up to my word. We will find and punish whoever launched the attack on the Bayou, and you will return to the compound for your own safety! But, right now—" Klaus grabs his bottle of scotch, "I'm gonna finish this bottle and the next, in the hopes of drowning the demon who has chosen today to haunt me." He looks up at the ceiling before chugging right from the bottle, "Cheers, Mikael. Impeccable, Freudian timing."

Elijah stares at his brother, stunned at the words that fell from his lips. Although, he seemed to know exactly what he's feeling. "Elaborate." Elijah states. "Have you dreamt of our father?"

"Go ahead, have a good laugh." Klaus takes another sip of his drink while throwing glances at the two people in front of him.

"I can assure you there is no piece of this that I find even remotely amusing, Niklaus. Especially considering I've been dreaming of him, too." Elijah confesses and I turn my head to him almost immediately, shocked as Klaus when he utters, "What?"

§

So, apparently he purgatory where supernatural souls are trapped is disintegrating and that's why Elijah and Klaus have been seeing their father.

I stand closely between Klaus and Hayley as we stroll through the French Quarter in honor of Father Kieran's death. Hundreds of community members join us in this parade, making it hard to have any room to roam freely.

We walk down the street to the sounds of the jazz music being played along with the sound of Hayley coughing non-stop.

"You alright? You look—" Elijah says from beside Hayley and she cuts him off, "—A hundred months pregnant and pissed off at the world?"

He then says something incoherently to the point where I stopped listening to their conversation. Klaus nudges my arm and leans in closer to my ear. "Remind me that I have to show you something later." he tells me and I nod, already wondering what he wanted to show me.

"Do you think I was the target of those bombings?" Hayley asks while pointing toward Francesca, who we believe was behind the bombing out in the Bayou.

"Of course you were the target! Were I to wage a war on the wolves, you'd be my first kill! I would string you up, for all your worshipers to see." Klaus sarcastically tells Hayley, which he then gets a glare from her in response.

"I believe that was my brother's way of telling you he'd like you to return home with us." Elijah tells Hayley then turns to his brother, "Perhaps try a different approach, Niklaus, with fewer references to murder?"

"Forget his attempt on bringing you back. I would really love if you'd come home." I smile at Hayley and she thinks about it for a moment before nodding her head. She then excuses herself and rushes to the top of the crowd and talks to Camille.

As I watch Hayley chatter away with the blonde bartender, Klaus wraps one arm around my shoulder and pulls me in closer to him. "Listen, love. I wanted to thank you for helping me last night. Little things like that mean a lot to me."

"I will always be there for you. Don't forget that." I tell tim sincerely. As he was about to say another word, he was cut short by Genevieve calling out his name in horror.

We run up to her and watch as Hayley is leaned up against a light post coughing vigorously. When we reached her, she had collapsed to the ground.

§

We all step into the Mikaelson Compound and Elijah lays Hayley's unconscious body on a table nearby. Genevieve trails behind in hopes in helping, "I can help—"

Elijah pushes the redhead away from the table while shouting at her. "Don't you touch her!"

"Let it be, Elijah. She was a nurse." Klaus tells his brother and Genevieve steps back to where she was, rolling up her sleeves. "There's a spell I can do. Klaus, get chamomile from the pantry. She's trembling. Your jacket, Elijah."

Elijah removes his jacket and lays it over Hayley as Genevieve continues speaking, "She's not breathing, I can hear the baby's heartbeat, but not hers."

Tears coat the corner of my eyes and a little shaken sob slips out of my mouth. Klaus comes back with the chamomile and hands it to the witch.

Genevieve presses damp bundle of chamomile against Hayley's forehead and starts chanting a spell, "Coeur blessé, battre avec mwen. Coeur blessé, battre avec mwen."

Klaus groans out in frustration, biting into his wrist and lets the liquid trickle down Hayley's mouth. A tiny bit of hope had me wishing she'd wake up, but nothing happened.

"She's still not breathing. It's not working!" Elijah yells out and angrily throws a table against the brick wall, shattering it into pieces. I step back as an immediate reaction and look down at my hands which were trembling in fear.

In my view another hand cover my shaking ones, squeezing them tightly. I look up at Klaus and he gives me a look of reassurance. I pull him into me in an embrace and hold him tightly and feel my nerves slowly calm down. "Whatever happens, we're in this together."

When I pull away from Klaus' arms, Genevieve is still chanting her spell and I have no idea if there's any progress. Elijah moves to pick up Hayley, "I'm taking her to a real doctor."

Genevieve stops Elijah from proceeding his task. "If you move her from here, my spell will break. There won't be enough time to get her to a hospital." she states.

Klaus steps away from me and frantically starts making his way over to Hayley. "Will the baby survive if delivered now? I'll rip it out of her myself!"

Elijah blocks Klaus from touching Hayley. "Klaus!" I say out in frustration and Genevieve glares at Klaus while saying, "Hayley will bleed to death!"

"I won't lose that baby." Klaus lowers his voice. Elijah gives him a look, "I won't lose either of them." he tells his brother.

Genevieve goes back to chanting, "...battre avec mwen. Coeur blessé, battre avec mwen." She gasps after a few moments and I widen my eyes, wondering if I should expect the best or worst.

"I know what to do. Get my bag, the gris-gris pouch! Now!" Genevieve commands and I do as she told. Genevieve spreads salt around Hayley on the table while chanting and crushes herbs on her body.

Hayley awakes with a loud gasp on the table, Klaus' blood still covering her mouth and neck. Elijah helps her sit up, and Klaus rubs her shoulder. I hold onto her hand and feel more tears cloud my visions, feeling them fall down my cheeks.

"I saw him. He tried to kill me. I saw Mikael." Hayley tells us. I lightly gasp and glance at Klaus who's already staring back at me with fear behind his eyes.

§

I stand on the balcony located right outside Klaus' bedroom. To be honest, this would have to be my favorite part of the entire compound. I breathe in the dark cold air and feel it soothe down my nerves.

After the incident with Hayley we've decided to leave her alone in her room as she processes what happened. She told us what she had saw when she interacted Mikael on the other side and as predicted, he wants Klaus dead.

However, I tried not to make this worry me too much. If he did come back, which I know he won't, Klaus can easily kill him like he did before.

I didn't want to rethink these thoughts again so, that's why I decided to take a breather on Klaus' balcony where I have been finding myself here more than usual lately.

"Maya," I hear Klaus' voice. I turn around at the sound and he smiles softly toward me. "Come with me, sweetheart. I promised to show you something."

He holds out his hand as I approach him. I accept his hand gesture and follow him around his room. Klaus places us in front of a door near the couch and television he has stored in here.

"What is this?" I furrow my eyebrows at him. He opens the door slowly and lets me in first and my eyes widen at the sight.

The room he sent me to was set up to be a nursery, complete with a crib, a bassinet, and a breath-taking mobile hanging from the ceiling, among other things. One lamp was shining throughout the whole room, leaving a soft yellow color to coat everything in sight.

I shudder in surprise, taking all of this in. "Did-did you do all this?" I gasp and my hand trickles over the crib near me. I whirl around as Klaus nods his head with a shy smile on his lips.

My heart fills with happiness as I continue to look around the room. When my eyes landed on the rocking chair, it really had me thinking of our child that is soon to come.

Klaus moves to leave, probably to let me have a moment with all of this, but I stop him mid-way. I run up to him and cup his cheeks to turn him toward me and place an overdue kiss on his lips.

I can he was taken by surprise by his light gasp against my lips. His hand holds the side of my face as he deepens the kiss and pulls me in closer. I missed the feeling of his lips on mine and already I felt complete.

As we pull away, I place my forehead with his and pant while saying my next words, "Thank you."
