I swing the door open and stare blankly at the figure standing in front of me.

"Hello, it's been a while." he says as he pierces his crystal blue eyes into my dark hazel ones. "Damon?" I question, my arms falling down to my sides, "What are you doing here?"

"I didn't get to congratulate you on your graduation," he says and his voice lowers, "and on your upcoming baby..."

"So, you've heard." I let out a breath, standing in the middle of the room as I stare straight to the door. "Elena just won't stop gushing about being an aunt." Damon tells me and I furrow my eyebrows, shocked.

"Doesn't sound accurate considering she didn't seem happy when she found out." I respond and he rolls his eyes, shrugging. "Alright, you got me. She never said that, but she does feel bad."

"If she did, she would've called." I shot back and he nods. Damon's eyes travel behind me then back at my eyes. "So, you gonna invite me in?"

I hesitate for a moment before letting him inside. His feet step onto the floor and looks around. "Uh, Hayley's the only one home. The rest are out."

"Hayley's carrying your child, right? How did that happen? Was there a threesome that somebody forgot to mention?" Damon's words fall out of his lips with a smirk appearing at the end.

I hit his arm. "Ew! No! And, it's a long story." I clarify and hear the door open behind me. Rebekah comes in with cleaning supplies. I furrow my eyebrows, but don't question it.

"I leave you alone for one hour and you're already inviting boys over!" Rebekah says while rolling her eyes and setting her items down.

"He actually invited himself." I correct and Damon shrugs with a smirk. "Nice to see you too, Rebekah."

"Why are you here, Damon? Don't you have a Gilbert to obsess over? Oh! Unless, you're still hung up on this one over here." Rebekah says through her clenched teeth.

"Ah, Barbie Klaus. Nice to see you haven't changed since your move to the big easy." Damon remarks as he too comfortably waltz through the foyer.

"That's brave coming from you." Rebekah responds and then looks down at a sponge she brought home. "Alright, well, I have a 200 year old carpet that needs cleaning so either you help or you get out." she smiles with her teeth.

Damon looks over at me with that oh too familiar glint in is eyes. "Well, Rebekah, isn't that a great coincidence seeing as my purpose of coming here wasn't really to see you." he says his eyes still blaring into mine.

"Then stop staring at her like that before my brother comes and puts your head on a stick." Rebekah replies with a raised eyebrow.

Damon's eyes drifts away from mine and stares back at Rebekah, who was already walking out of the room and into the living space. I follow after her and Damon trails behind.

"Where did Klaus and Elijah go?" I question as she sits down on the floor and begins scrubbing the blood stained carpet. "Elijah's idiotic mind made a deal with the Davina witch and gave her a page of my mother's spell book."

"Wait, Esther?" Damon asks and I nod. "Yes. Who else would be my mother?" Rebekah replies sarcastically as she continues to scrub.

After a moment of silence, both their heads snap towards the door as if they're listening to something. "What?" I inquire as I follow them out of the room and into another.

Hayley holds her neck in pain and removes her hand, small droplets of blood were shown. "What the hell was that?" Rebekah walks into the room and stares at the lonely wolf a few feet away from her.

"Hell if I know. It felt like I was being stabbed." she responds and I immediately knew it had to be Sophie considering they're linked. Rebekah leaves the room and Hayley's eyes move right next to mine, where Damon was staring back at her.

"I didn't know you brought company." Hayley says, sitting down at one of the sofas. "I'm not staying long, anyways. Just wanted to make a quick stop." Damon replies, looking at me again.

"So, you came all the way down to New Orleans to make a quick stop? Doesn't seem so—"

"Enough about Damon already!" Rebekah walks back into the room with a basket of apples in her hands. "Time for the demon spawn to snack!"

She holds out the basket. "Take one, the plantation's lousy with them." Hayley chooses an apple and holds it for a moment, "I feel fine... which is weird. I'm sure it's Sophie-related."

"It has to be." I say, brainstorming ideas why she got stabbed in the neck. "Then, do me a favor, and don't die on my watch. I'll never hear the end of it." Rebekah scolds then points to me, "And that goes to you too."

"You know, when I first met you, I thought you were a real bitch." Hayley says after a moment of silence. Rebekah smiles, "What changed your mind?"

Hayley laughs, "Oh, I still think you're a bitch! I've just grown to like that about you."

Rebekah chuckles. "Aw, well, that's sweet of you to say." Her face becomes more serious, "Remember it when I'm gone."

I frown immediately, "Gone? Where are you going?" Rebekah turns around to face me, softening her eyes a bit. "I only came to town to make sure everything was okay with Elijah. He's fine, and he hasn't punished Klaus for daggering him, so... as usual, they'll be thick as thieves, and I'll be left to clean up the mess. It's time for me to fly the coop."

"So, now I have to clean the mess?" I sarcastically ask, but sad still she's deciding to leave.

Hayley goes to bite the apple in her hand, but she suddenly looks a little woozy before she gets the chance to eat it.

Rebekah frowns, "What's wrong?" Hayley shakes head. "I don't know, probably morning sickness..."

She places hand on Hayley's forehead. "Oh, you're burning up, actually."

I walk over to them, placing my own hand on her forehead and she's right, she is burning up. "What did you eat this morning?"

"Just some cereal and orange juice..." she replies, closing her eyes. I look back up at Rebekah, "Go call Elijah." I instruct. Her lips curve up in a smile, "I love when your mother instincts kick in, Maya."

Elijah soon came back with Sophie, where she told Rebekah to fetch some herbs for her that'll help Hayley. So, here I am outside a shop with Damon by myself as Rebekah completes her task.

"Is it always that chaotic here?" Damon asks as we walk on the lonely sidewalk. The moonlight was shining down at us along with the street lights that clouded the New Orlean streets.

"I honestly wish I could answer that." I reply, not knowing how to respond. So much has happened already I just don't know what's more to come. "Makes sense."

Damon stops me by holding onto my arm and stares back down at me. My eyebrow raises a bit as I wait for him to talk, but no words come out of his mouth. "What is it?" I ask.

"Rebekah was right, you know..." he says, using his finger to tuck a piece of my hair behind my ear. I move my head slightly to lose his touch and continue on with the conversation. "Right about what?"

"About me being hung up on you. And I've been thinking about our last kiss... and I was thinking we revive it."

I stand there frozen in place, not knowing what to say. His hand move up to my cheek and caresses it. He leans in closer. His breathe so close to my skin and I inhale, not finding any strength to exhale. My hands grab onto his to remove it off of my face.

"Damon, I can't... I'm with Klaus and you're supposed to be with Elena..." I whisper, my eyes glued to the ground below me. I hear him let out a sigh.

"I cant be in love with Elena when I-I'm—" He couldn't finish his sentence, but I knew what he was going to say. "You can't expect me to drop everything and join you." I tell him and he nods, taking a few steps backwards.

"Do you love him?" his words rings through my ears. "Yes." I whisper, still avoiding eye contact.

"I think I'm just going to go. Good luck with your kid, Maya." Damon says before turning back around and walking into the dark streets. "Damon!" I yell out, but his vampire speed helped him disappear and I wonder if he even heard me.

I lean on the street lamp and let out a frustrated groan. I just want to know why he thought I'd kiss him... or even consider going back to Mystic Falls when I'm clearly about to start a family. And I know he's going to avoid me and ignore my future calls until he calms down.

"You're so lucky my brother didn't see that or Damon wouldn't even consider thinking about you again." Rebekah's voice springs out into the dark night.

I ignore her statement and point to her bag. "You got everything you need?"

"Don't try and avoid this, Maya..."

"I'm not! I just don't know what to say." I tell her, walking towards her and leave the abandon street lamp. "I'll tell you what. I promise to keep this a secret from Nik until you feel ready to tell him. Deal?"

I nod, totally forgetting about how Klaus will feel if I told her. I might not even tell him because I don't even know how I feel.

"Now, come on. We've got a baby and a wolf to save."

While Klaus was still out trying to find out where Agnes was located, Elijah, Sophie, and Hayley were in the pool as they try to bring the temperature down to help Hayley. It's honestly so painful to watch and I'm not even sure if it's gonna work.

"I don't see how a midnight swim is supposed to help." Rebekah lets out a groan in frustration. "Her temperature is sky-high. The water, with the help of the herbs, should cool us down." Sophie explains while handing Hayley the herbal concoction, "Drink this!"

"You're going to have to get her heart rate down." Sophie turns to Elijah. "How do you suggest I do that?" he inquires. Already, I can see how much he cares for Hayley in such a short amount of time.

"Hold her. It's a natural human remedy to slow the heart rate and reduce blood pressure." Sophie answers. Rebekah finds her way next to me and sits down as the blue tint from the pool and moonlight shines our faces. "This is never gonna work." she whispers with a hint of worry.

Elijah picks Hayley up and holds her bridal style in the pool. "Davina will break the link, we just need time." Elijah states and Hayley clings to him and groans as she gasps for breath.

"I can't breathe!" Hayley gasps, holding onto her throat and I wince as I watch the scene unfold. "Okay, long deep breaths, Hayley! Look at me. Long deep breaths, just focus on the sound of my voice." Elijah tells her.

A few minutes later, Hayley grasps onto her stomach and screams in pain. A hand holds onto mine and my eyes travel down, seeing Rebekah squeezes it tightly.

Then, the screaming stops and Sophie looks up at the sky. "I just felt it lift." she says and my eyes move to Hayley, who seems to be calming down.

Elijah rushes out of the pool and Sophie begs him not to let Klaus kill Agnes, saying she's their only elder they have left and that she's the only way the witches have access to power. Elijah simply nods and leaves the plantation.

Hayley whispers something to Sophie before walking out of the pool. I let go of my hand from Rebekah and throw a towel at Hayley, who catches it with ease and wraps it around herself.

"Where'd your blue eyed boyfriend go?" Hayley asks as we walk back inside. I roll my eyes and lead her back upstairs. "Far from here, I can tell you that."

We reach her bedroom and she takes off her towel and throws it on her bed. "I'm, uh, sorry about that." Hayley says after a long period of silence.

I furrow my eyebrows, not understanding why she's apologizing. "Sorry for what?" I ask and she shrugs. "You almost lost your child. I mean, it must—"

I shake my head and stop her from continuing. "It's not your fault, Hayley. We never should've trusted the witches in the first place and found a way to unlink the spell earlier. But, we were lucky this time."

"You know, I'm starting to think you don't hate me anymore." Hayley says with a smile and I laugh along with her. "Don't push it."

We say our goodnights and I step out into the hallway where I was embraced by a hug who I immediately knew it was Rebekah from her perfume she uses daily.

My arms wrap around hers as she starts crying. I pull away and give her a concerned look. "Hey, what's wrong?" I ask and she shakes her head, wiping her tears.

"Elijah isn't tagging along with me and I'm leaving for good. So," she sniffles and puts on a smile. "I just wanted to say goodbye to my favorite girl before I go."

"You're really leaving?" I ask, a frown forming on my face. "I'm afraid so." I give her one last hug before she exits out the door.

A couple hours later, nobody came back home. "So, Elijah ended up killing Agnes?" I ask through the phone. "I'm surprised too, love. I expected to do the killing." Klaus says. He was still wondering around New Orleans but he'll be here shorty.

"I haven't seen you all day..." I tell him, which was true. I woke up to an empty bed and Damon basically started my day. "Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll arrive shortly."

Klaus and I did end up working out our differences and he is willing to give me freedom because he doesn't want me to feel trapped here at all, but I do understand why he feels the need to do it.

I hear the doorbell ring, "I'll call you back. There's someone at the door." I quickly hang up once we exchange our goodbyes and walk out of my room.

Hayley answers the door which revealed Josh, who I later found out he's Marcel's vampire who is secretly helping Klaus.

I stand at the top of the stairway, nobody can see me but I can hear them downstairs if they're loud enough. Josh kept asking Hayley if Klaus was around because he needed him urgently.

Hayley slams the door shut once she says he's not home and the door rings again. Only this time, I recognized Marcel's voice. I hesitated to run down the stairs, but I knew I still had my fake reputation to hold, so I stayed where I was and listened. He didn't even say much because the door closed once again.

I walk down the stairs and see Hayley rolling her eyes. "Next time you're opening the door." she says and I exhale a breathe.

Knocks on the door ring through the house once again and I let out a groan. "I thought this house was miles from the city." I head Hayley say from down the hall.

I open the door and meet eyes with a very familiar face and everything went black.
