Chapter Forty-Nine

It's Monday and I've been avoiding Colton successfully for most of the day. God, my weekend with Bryce was amazing. When we woke up, we ate breakfast and then he drove me back to the theater where my car was. We made out and then said goodbye.

And then I went back to the hospital and did homework.

I just have to get through one more hour. The only difference is, Colton's my biology partner, so I can't really avoid him. Bryce sits in front of me, so maybe I'll be okay.

"Hey," Bryce says as he slides his arm around my shoulders.

"Hey," I say, smiling. I slip my arm around his waist. When we get to Biology, Colton's already there. "Fuck," I mutter.

"Don't worry about him," Bryce murmurs. His arm tightens around my shoulders.

"Hey Tim," I say. Tim is Bryce's partner. His older brother, Trent, is a nurse at the hospital. "Can we trade seats?"

"Why?" he asks.

"Because I asked you," I say.

"Whatever," he says, grabbing his stuff.

"Thanks," I say. Tim shakes his head. I sit down next to Bryce. The bell rings and Mr. Burton walks over.

"Andy, go back to your seat," he tells me.

"Can I sit here today, Mr. Burton? Please?" I say. Mr. Burton frowns.

"Did I miss something? I thought you Bryce didn't get along well, and you and Colton were more than happy." He looks at Bryce, then at Colton and then at me.

"Um, I guess things change," I say. "Can I sit here?" Mr. Burton shrugs.

"Today only," he says. I nod. Mr. Burton walks to the front of the classroom. "Today, we're just going to watch a documentary called Blackfish, which is about the way Orca whales have responded to being in captivity. Take notes on things you find interesting," he says. All of the kids cheer. He rolls his eyes and walks to the back of the classroom, turning the lights off. He starts the documentary.

As we watch it, I feel Colton's burning gaze. I scoot my chair closer to Bryce and he slings his arm around the back of our chairs. I'm on edge from his gaze.

"Sweetheart, relax," Bryce murmurs. "You're so tense." He starts rubbing my shoulders. I sigh softly. His touch makes me forget most things.

After fifteen minutes Mr. Burton gets up. "I'm gonna go get more coffee. I'll be back in a few minutes. Please don't pull anything," he says, walking out and shutting the door. It's dark, the blinds are drawn shut, the lights are turned off. Bryce looks around.

"What are you doing?" I whisper. I look around and everyone seems to be watching the movie or on their phones. Bryce grins at me. "Bryce, seriously, what are you doing?"

"This," he says and then his mouth is covering mine. I kiss him back and he pulls me onto his lap so I'm straddling him. I shouldn't be kissing him, Mr. Burton could walk in any second, but I can't top. My arms go around his neck and run through his hair. He has one arm wrapping around my waist and his other arm is on my ass. I'm so glad I wore tiny shorts. I shift closer to him and open my mouth wider.

There's a crash behind us, but I don't really hear it. "Oh, shit!" Someone yells, "Burton's coming back!"

I scramble off of Bryce and back to my seat. He smirks at me and I wipe my mouth off and straighten my shirt. Bryce's hair is a mess. "You might want to fix your hair," I mutter. He shrugs and I fix it for him.

Mr. Burton walks back in. I hear him mutter, "Jesus, I don't get paid enough." I smile and shake my head as we go back to watching the documentary. After a little while, the bell rings and I grab my stuff. Bryce grabs my hand as we walk out.

"I have to head to swim practice, but I'll see you later," Bryce says. I nod.

"See you later." He kisses me briefly and then walks away. I smile as I walk through the school so I can get to the parking lot. I've just pushed through the doors when I feel a hand on my arm. I whip around.

Colton.

"We need to talk," he says. I shrug out of his grip.

"I'm not doing this right now," I say. I keep walking but he keeps pace with me.

"Andy, we need to talk," Colton says. I'm almost to the parking lot.

"I'm not going to talk to you, Colton. There's nothing to talk about," I tell him. I'm only a couple of feet away from my car.

"Maybe you didn't hear me right," he says, "I said we need to talk."

I stop walking. "I heard you fine, Colton," I tell him. "Just like I heard you on the phone. Just like how I saw you at the movie theater."

"Your point is?" He raises an eyebrow.

"You cheated on me, you lying sack of shit. So no, no I won't talk to you," I start walking towards my car.

"You're one to talk," Colton says.

"Oh, really? Why's that?" I can't even describe how much he's pissing me off. I don't even want to kill him because he's not worth it.

"You fucked Bryce," he tells me.

"Maybe I did. I'm not the one that was having a threesome with two sluts. Or the one that walked in smelling like some girl's perfume," I say.

"You spread your legs for Bryce just like you spread them for Greyson. Who's gonna be next?" His green eyes burn into mine.

"We broke up because you cheated on me," I say slowly, calmly. "Tell yourself whatever you need to, but just know that it's your fault."

"You don't know for sure that I cheated on you," Colton says.

"I know, Colton, I know," I say. "And you know something? We wouldn't have worked anyways. So, have fun with all of the girls you want." I walk to the driver's side of my car.

"You haven't wasted any time," he calls.

"Do you know what you can do? Go cut off your dick and then shove it up your ass," I tell him. "See if that satisfies you." I unlock my car and get in. He mutters something that I can't hear and then I'm driving away.

I try to shove Colton out of my mind as I drive to the hospital. He's such a dick. Once I get to the hospital I walk around trying to find Brandon. Instead, I find one of the interns in his group.

"Yo, Cross," I say. He smirks when he sees me.

"Andy, long time no see," Cross says.

"Yeah, yeah, save it. You seen Brandon?" I say. Cross runs a hand through his brownish blonde hair.

"Maybe," he says. I roll my eyes.

"Can you just tell me if you've seen him or not?" Cross shrugs.

"I think he's on the Chief's service," Cross says. I punch his shoulder.

"Thanks, bro," I say. I hear him laugh as I walk away. I haven't talked to Harrison since I found him and Mother at the cabin. Fuck, I don't want to talk to Harrison.

I walk down to the cafeteria to grab a coffee. I spot Moore, Brandon's resident.

"Hey." She looks up at me.

"Oh, hey Andy. How's it going?" she asks. I shrug.

"Pretty good," I tell her. "Can you page Brandon for me?"

"Uh, yeah. Why do you need Patty?" she says, taking a drink of her coffee. I smirk at the nickname.

"I need my depo shot," I say.

"Oh, shit, right. I'm due for that one too soon," she says. The Depo-Vera shot is a lot easier than the birth control pill. "It's really convenient, but damn does it hurt." I nod and smirk.

"I just like getting it cuz Brandon or some other attractive doctor touches my ass," I tell her. She laughs.

"That's definitely a plus. I broke up with my shit boyfriend, so that's the most action I've gotten in a while," Moore says. "I'll page Patty for you."

Brandon skids into the cafeteria in less than a minute. "Moore, what is it?" Brandon asks, he's panting.

"You didn't get here fast enough," she snaps. She smirks at me. "He's all yours now." Moore walks away.

"What the hell?" Brandon mutters. He looks at me. "What's up?"

"I need my depo shot," I say. He nods. We walk to an exam room and I lay down on my stomach while he gets the shot ready. "Hey, Brandon?"

"Yeah?" he says, turning to look at me.

"Can I ask a favor?" He nods. "Um, can I crash with you for a couple of days?"

"Why?" Brandon asks. "Don't you live at home?" He pulls down my shorts.

"Not anymore. I caught Mother fucking Harrison, so I haven't been home since that." He rubs a sterile wipe on my ass.

"Oh, that's um...that sucks," he says. He inserts the needle and I wince.

"Yeah. She called me a whore," I say.

"I guess you can crash with me. But fair warning, it's kind of like a frat house. I live with Cross, Flemings, Ollie and Cross' older brother," Brandon says. "There's a couch you could sleep on."

I smile at pull my shorts up. "Sounds good."
