Lilo--Late Night Call

Oneshot for my boo hannahsue-- hey that rhymed

yay

(Also I just realized that I wrote about the 1D dads)

His eyelids were already drooping. It was only 9:08 in the evening, and the hum of the soft voices coming from the TV was more than enough to put someone to sleep.

Louis was lounging on the couch with his back flat on the seats and his legs crossed and resting on the top of it. He was shortly recovering from Briana taking his little boy away to spend time with her for the rest of the week, but the positive side was that he could actually sleep through the night in peace.

It made Louis slightly grumpy to just even think about Briana. After the fight they had earlier, Louis was steaming, but had calm down since then. He glared at the TV screen with now more animated eyes.

"Easy Lou.." He whispered to calm his inner passive aggressive rage.

Louis sighed as he laid his head back against the arm of his couch. Now that he was in a state, he had grown restless, yet he was tired and ready to go to bed.

"Hmm." Louis blinked up at the ceiling and stared for a little bit at the smooth texture of it. His eyes slid over the cream color and tried to find any discrepancies. It was a smooth ceiling of a house, there was none. He listened to the TV as a commercial now aired. A girl with a high pitched voice was advertising a new type of blender, or something like that.

A small flap of wings was what made Louis open his eyes. It was so sudden and different from the drone of the current time, it alerted Louis to full attention and made him sit straight up. He could feel some of his hair sticking straight up.

"What the fuck.."

Louis scouted the area with a few turns of his head only to see nothing. His eyes caught view of the nearest window in the room and stuck there,"Must've been a bird.." He mumbled.

Louis closed his eyes, feeling more exhausted than ever, and let his body slowly lean back down to be cushioned by his couch. Once Louis was comfortable, he exhaled slowly through his nose. He felt his body gradually get heavier, and he could feel the sensation of sleep wash over him, starting from his toes, and working slowly up his leg. The sound of the TV started to fade away, and Louis was practically as dead as a rock.

Squeaking was what woke him up this time, and Louis only opened his eyes.

A little grey bat was staring Louis dead in the face, squeaking and chirping as it somehow latched onto the ceiling, right on the exact spot he was observing just a little bit ago.

Nothing could come out Louis' mouth besides a small, sharp shriek that almost echoed the bat's, except in more volume.

Louis tumbled off of the couch and caught his phone that was on his chest, clutching to it as he now lay curled up and startled on the carpet.

"Jesus Christ!" Louis breathed out, uncurling himself to watch the bat carefully.

It was just a tiny thing, probably no more older than a baby. Now some people would think this a cute animal, but Louis detested them, and other rodent like creatures. They were rats with wings, literally.

"I need to..I gotta..call.." Breaths were slowly coming out of Louis' mouth he was so panicked and caught off guard. His eyes never left the winged little creature as Louis swiped his phone across its screen to unlock and open it up to his contacts. The only time his eyes left the bat was to glance at who exactly he should call.

He couldn't call his sisters. They were already squeamish, and forced Louis to squish spiders and bugs for them all the time, despite Louis being just as squeamish as they were. He skipped through useless business contacts and glanced the only H name in his contacts list until he got to Liam's number. It was under the name Payno.

"Liam..maybe Liam's free tonight." Louis uttered as he pressed the call button and put his phone up to his ear. Once it started ringing, Louis glued his eyes back to the bat, who was now slowly crawling more towards him.

Louis gasped and pushed himself back on the carpet, only giving himself slight rug burn.

Wincing, Louis backed up against the wall while still sitting on the floor, staring wide eyed at the bat.

What if its a vampire bat? Louis thought, even though he knew vampire bats lived no where near where he was.

Louis was pushing the thought of the bat sinking his teeth into his soft flesh when the voice of Liam Payne himself hit his eardrums,"Hey wassup Tomlinson?"

A small, relieved exhale of air left Louis' lungs so fast he was surprised he was alive,"Liam! Thank God.."

Liam's voice switched from friendly to concerned,"Louis? What's wrong? What's happening?"

"Oh Christ Liam.." Louis bit his lip as he watched the bat start crawling away from him in a different direction. The sight gave Louis goosebumps all over his neck, arms, and legs.

"Louis!" Liam was now frantic,"Louis talk to me!" His voice rose in slight pitch.

"There's a fuckin bat in my house, Liam!"

While Louis worked his way up the wall, clinging to it for life, there was dead silence on the other line. Liam was quiet. Louis panicked now and shifted to his left, towards his kitchen, while clinging to the wall.

After a few more seconds and Louis felt his feet hit cold linoleum, Louis spoke up,"L..Liam?"

"You called me because of a stupid bat somehow found itself inside your house?"

"Yes!" Louis said, rather upset.

Liam sounded quietly incredulous,"Oh my god.."

"Liam! Are you gonna come over and get this thing out of here or what?"

"Don't you call Harry for this sort of thing?"

Louis froze in his footsteps towards the kitchen, blue eyes still locked on the bat who was still skittering around and squeaking,"Liam,"

"Sorry." Liam quickly apologized, then cleared his throat,"I guess I'll be there in a bit. Sit tight Louis."

"Thanks," Louis muttered, slightly annoyed on top of being scared shitless.

After Liam hung up, Louis set his phone aside on the counter, head on the bat. How the hell did it get into his house? All of his doors and windows were locked. He practically wracked his brain to come up with an answer, so he could avoid this problem once and for all. What if his house was infested?

Louis glanced away from the bat for a few seconds to observe his surroundings in the kitchen to see if he could get started on removing the bat. But what could you use?

He spotted a broom by his trash can, maybe he could poke it off the ceiling and edge it towards a window?

That positive thought was crushed by the image of Louis softly nudging the bat with the broom's bristles and the bat screeching wildly as it became enraged and flew after Louis with sharp fangs.

Louis calmed his panicked heart by clutching his chest. He turned his head back to look at the bat, who clung to the ceiling, as still as a statue, squeaking occasionally. Louis exhaled and steadied himself on the counter behind him. Liam wasn't very far, probably. He could wait until he got here.

When Liam did arrive, Louis was still frozen in place, which surprised him.

"Tommo?" Liam stared at Louis with a raised eyebrow.

Louis graciously smiled at him and relieved himself with a huge sigh he seemed to be holding onto until Liam got there.

"Bloody hell Liam..finally."

Liam started looking around,"Where is the stupid thing anyway?"

Frightened as hell still, Louis leaned forward to get a good look into the living room,"It should be..." His jaw dropped.

"What?" Liam stepped towards Louis after seeing his shocked expression. Soon, fear sunk itself into Liam's belly too,"Oh shit.."

"It was..right..there.." Louis stammered, managing to point out the spot where the creature was last.

"Oh my god Louis."

"It's not my fault! I was watching the bloody thing this whole bloody time!" Heat rose to Louis's face as he got more emotional.

Right after a groan came from Liam, a small squeak echoed into the kitchen. Both men froze.

"Its in here." Liam remained still, locking eyes with Louis, whose eyes were wide.

"I'm gonna fucking tear your throat out Liam." Louis whispered, shaking, but still as stone.

"What are you threatening me for?" Liam matched his tone of voice to a quiet whisper, only angry,"I am the one who drove 10 miles away from my son to help you get a fucking bat out of your god damn house!"

"Maybe if you got here earlier it would still be where it was!" Louis glared.

Liam rolled his eyes,"You are being extremely childish right now Louis."

"Childish?!" Louis scream whispered.

The next noise that made them really scream was the sound of wings flapping between the both of them. Both grown men shrieked as soon as it passed their field of vision and decided to hit the floor while still in fear.

"Get it Liam!" Get it!!" Louis yelled with a shrill while the bat started to hover over the two of them in curiosity.

"Oh my fucking god.." Liam panted, keeping his hands above his head as he heard the bat flying just above him.

"Aaahhh!! Get it!" Louis panicked and saw that it was just above Liam. His response to this was to go to his original plan and grab a broom from the nearby broom closet.

While Louis was frantically pushing and pulling things out of the small closet, Liam stared angrily at him,"Sorry I've never had to deal with a bat in my-"

He was cut off by the sudden and somewhat ticklish impact of broom bristles hitting his face and head.

The bat shrieked and flew away, back into the living room that was its safe haven.

"Fuck!"

"Shit..sorry Liam." Louis said sincerely.

"Its fine.." Liam grumbled while rubbing his head. His eyes met the broom that was still in Louis's hands,"Give me that." He took it from Louis and started marching towards the living room.

Louis watched on silently in awe. Liam spotted the little thing huddled up on Louis's coffee table by his couch. He turned his head towards Louis,"Lou grab a bag or blanket or something."

"But.."

"Do it!" Liam looked to the sky, heavily annoyed and possibly in disbelief that he was even in this situation. The next thing that happened made both of the men scream together in almost perfect pitch.

The bat gained air and started flying Liam's way, making him duck as fast as he could. The bat then targeted Louis and went straight for his face. Louis let out a piercing scream and ducked just like Liam. The bat flew right past Louis and into the next room, leaving both of them on the ground. They locked eyes.

"Louis.."

"Yeah?"

"Please grab a bag."

They tried that, but the bat only swooped in on both of them once again, this time it sent Louis flailing and running for his bedroom. Liam sighed when he heard his door slam.

"Okay. That's it. Harry's had bats in his house before."

In a few minutes Harry was at Louis's door and saw Liam fending off the bat that was on the living room ceiling once again with a broom.

Liam and Harry locked eyes. The one fending off the bat sighed,"Help. Please."

Louis stayed in his room, curled up on his bed as he heard a few grunts of men, and a few shrieks of the bat. He knew who this new person was in his house. All the more reason to stay in there. When the shrieking stopped, and he heard Liam step back into the house, and only Liam, Louis sat up.

Liam's footsteps neared the door, making Louis relax. His head popped into his room with a tired look,"It's gone. He's gone too."

"Good," Louis picked himself off of his bed and started to follow Liam out of his room.

Once they were back in the living room, clean and filled with non broken items, Liam spoke,"We caught it and put it back outside. Hopefully, it doesn't find its way back."

"Yeah," Louis muttered, looking around solemnly at his house.

Liam saw this look and exhaled, glancing at Louis,"I'm gonna go now Lou. Okay?"

Louis met Liam's eyes with a tired smile,"Yeah. Okay."

The two hugged for a few seconds and they both rubbed at each other's hair. When they pulled away they grinned at each other like brothers that haven't spoken in years.

"I'll see you round Louis."

"Yeah, see ya." Louis waved at Liam as he found himself out, leaving Louis alone in his house once again.
