Well, well. Here we are, the first line of the first chapter of an exciting book.

I'm not going to jump right in with the juicy writing secrets. Instead, I ask that you bear with me for a few paragraphs while I explain how we're going to do this. 

The first thing you need to know about this book: I'm just going to come out with it. This book might not be for you. Everybody thinks differently. What I write is different to what you write. Your characters are different to mine. Your writing style is wonderful, and unique, and may, or may not, gel with my advice. 

You might never find a book that helps you with your writing style. I sure as heck didn't. I read heaps of books on advice for writing and no matter how interesting the ideas were, they just weren't how I worked.  

But before you get frightened off by my honesty, worried that the rest of this book is going to be filled with useless snippets of worthless junk, let me defend myself.

The second thing you need to know about this book: I'm going to be filling it up with not just my tricks and tips of the trade, but also hints and advice I've gathered from other authors, so that you'll have plenty of advice to choose from and experiment around with, and maybe even develop your very own unique style! I'm going to be sharing links to useful blogs, giving you names of useful books, and using heaps of examples! 

The third thing you need to know about this book: I will publish my own chapters of advice, based on FAQ and things, but I'd rather you ask me in the comments what you'd like help on, and I'll write you, and personally you, a chapter on how I'd deal with your problem!
