Part 4
Vidhyadhar was dropped off at his respective address by Sidharth before he proceeded towards his Sasural {In-laws' house}. He was happy and blushing all alone sitting in the cart. His excitement level was increasing with every inch they progressed towards her house. He was for the first time going to see his wife's face after a long long wait of 6 months of his marriage. He couldn't even ask his mother her description as he was too shy to enquire about her features. Only thing he knew was her name, Sunaina
Eversince he had left her at her parent's house post marriage and went to his home, every single day, he wondered how she looked, how she might sound like, how delicate her skin would be to touch, how aromatic her body might be. How long her hair might be and how it might feel to touch those hair. How sweet her smile would be, how soft her lips might be, and how deep her eyes could be.
There was no medium of knowing anything about romance or intimacy as such but his friend, Jagesh told him everything about it in these past 6 months and since then he dreamt to spend lovely moments with his wife.
The horse cart came to halt and his heart skipped a beat. His eyes had already started searching for her. His mother in law, SD comes out and welcomes him inside. He passes some the basket of fruits and flowers to her which was sent by Sulochna. She gives him hot water to take bath, serves him food and allows him to rest in a room. But he couldn't for once get a glimpse of his wife yet. The wait seemed to be longer to him compared to the 6 months.
In the evening, Mahinder returns home. He chats with him for a while and then they have early dinner. Mahinder escorts him to his room which was decorated with scented flowers. Sidharth blushes hard looking at the arrangement. Finally, he was getting to see his bride after 6 hours of wait. The room was lit with lamp since there wasn't electricity in the village.
He sits on the edge of the bed waiting for her. His heart was racing and eyes were etched to the door.

SD gives a glass of warm milk in Sana's hand and escorts her.
SD: Sana, you are going to meet your groom. Be in veil until he himself picks it up and just listen to and do what your groom says. Remember, don't tell him your name as Sana if he calls you Sunaina.
Sana nods. She had zero knowledge about anything relating to the marriage or about nuptial night. There were no flutters or any kind of tingling in her stomach as every new bride has on her nuptial night. Her mother had trained her to cook and do chores of house but gave absolutely no knowledge about intimacy or romantic life between husband and wife.
Author's note: Imagine there is no electricity in the village. And in the year 1949 they didn't have phone, internet, TV etc to get any knowledge about romance or married life. People were too shy to give sex education to their children. Since boys were a bit grown up, they discussed it among friends but girls being young had no one to talk about it. So it was natural to have absolutely no knowledge about b it for a girl.
SD stops 2 steps away from the door and turns Sana to face her. She cups her face and kisses her forehead before pulling a long veil over her head. SD was emotional and nervous herself thinking about her daughter.
SD: Go inside. (She whispered)
Sana walked inside the door. Sidharth flinched to stand on his feet as he found his bride walking inside with a glass of milk in her hand and a long veil.
She stopped 2 steps away from him waiting for his instructions. She was perplexed to find him go near the door. The veil was giving her only a blurred view of motions. She heard him latch the door. There was no reaction from her.
He comes back to her and stands infront of her. He had a blush on his face and a slight smile. Although he had been eagerly waiting to see her all this while, his hands shivered a little to take the lead.
She forwards the milk and he smilingly takes it from her hand and keeps it on the small table beside the bed. He holds her veil and slowly lifts it up. All the imaginations he had about how she could be in past six months comes infront of eyes before he fully unveiled her.
Sana looked at him normally whereas he was fully mesmerised by her beauty. He stood there awestruck, she was extremely beautiful than what he had imagined.
Her almond shaped eyes stared right into his eyes sending a shiver into his whole body. Her sharp nose gave him the urge of pinching them. His hands requested him to run over her plumpy cheeks and those pink lips were fuller and looked juicy which he wanted to kiss instantly. The long plait came until her belly button. He thanked God and reminded himself of how lucky he was to have such a beautiful wife.
Sana: The milk will become cold. (Softly)
Her voice was very sweet but it broke his trance. He picked up the glass of milk and remembered Jagesh's word "Drink half milk and give her the half to have it. It increases love between husband and wife."
He gulped the half glass of warm milk down his throat looking at her and forwards it to her with half milk in it.
Sidharth: For you.
Sana: (scrunched her nose) Jhoota hai. Mujhe nahi chahiye. {It's spat, I don't want it}
Sidharth: (chuckles in surprise) It increases love between husband and wife.
Sana: What is love? I drink milk everyday so it must have already increased. I don't eat jhoota food of anyone.
Sidharth: Huh? Nevermind, I'll have it myself and teach you what is love. (Smilingly)
He gulps the remaining milk down his throat while Sana sat on the bed looking at her room being decorated so nicely in amusement.
He sits beside her and she looks at him in surprise due to the proximity. He comes closer and plants a kiss on her cheek. She was shocked but remembers her mother's word "just listen to and do what your groom says". She keeps quiet.
He smiles on successfully giving his first kiss to his wife. His heart was ready to progress further as it got the courage. He cups her face and plants another kiss on her forehead, she looks away from his face again reminding herself of her mother's word. He pulls her again closer and kisses her lips. She was taken aback and the moment she finds his tongue making it's way inside her mouth. She pushes him away forcefully.
Sana: Ammaaa.. (she screams..)
She wipes her lips and jumps down the bed to run away but he holds her wrist breaking her glass bangles. She looks at the broken bangles and starts crying.
Sana: You broke my new bangles which my Bapu Ji got yesterday itself only. These green bangles were my favourite.
Sidharth was shocked. He puts his finger on his lips saying "Ssshhhh.. Ssshhh.." to her to keep quiet but she went on crying. He places his one palm on her mouth and the other behind her head to shut her mouth. She looks into his eyes with her tear filled eyes.
Sidharth: Sunaina, stop running away. I am your husband dear. I have right to love you. Don't scream, it's embarrassing if your parents hear it.
He kisses her eyes as she looked at him. She picks up the broken glass bangle and scratches him on his hand. He shrieks at sudden pain and leaves her mouth at once. She gets up, unlatches the door and runs outside. He goes behind her, stops as he finds her hugging her mother.
Sana: Amma, that groom is dirty. He made my mouth jhoota and broke my new bangles as well..
SD glanced at him and he felt embarrassed. He quietly turned around went back to the room.
SD: Sana, he won't hurt you my child. He is just your husband. I told you to listen to him and do as he says. He has more rights on you than me and your father now. Respect him. Go back to him my child and don't hurt him.
Sana: I.. I.. I scratched his hand with my broken piece of bangles.
SD: Oh God! What did you do Sana? Take a turmeric paste and apply it and say sorry to him right now. Go!
Sana nods and goes to the kitchen and sauntered back with a turmeric paste into the room. He was lying on the bed in anger with his back facing the door. She walks slowly towards the other side of the bed near him. He looks away.
Sana: I.. am.. Sorry..! (She said each word with a pause) I made a mistake.
He doesn't answer. She dips and takes out a little paste on her fingers and goes to hold his hand. He jerks off. She looks at him with a puppy face as his hand was bleeding lightly. She tries holding his hand again and he doesn't move this time. She applies the turmeric paste on the wound very softly. With every stroke his anger gradually vanished.
May be I made a mistake listening to Jagesh. I might take ideas to romance her from him but it has to be my way. I scared her with sudden moves. Let me warm up a bit by breaking the ice between us two.
Sidharth: Thank you! Go to sleep.
Sana: Aa.. Where do I sleep?
Sidharth: Huh? There is space on this bed. You may sleep beside me. I won't harm you.
Sana: Okay.
She takes few steps and shrieks "Ouch!"
He sat up straight at once.
Sidharth: What happened?
Sana: I hurt my leg as I stepped on the glass pieces. (Sobs softly)
He goes near her and picks her up and places her on the bed. He then inspects the wound by bringing a lamp closer to her feet. He removes the glass piece stuck in her feet and applies a turmeric paste from the bowl she had got. He looks at her and she smiles. He loved her smile. He puts all the pieces of glass and puts it on the waste paper to discard it in the morning. He then says good night to her before sleeping.
He was woken up at the middle of the night as she threw her hand and leg on him in sleep. He looked at her who slept like a baby unaware that she had her husband lying beside her. She hugged him tight in her sleep without knowing about it. He subtly kissed her forehead and went to sleep by hugging her back with the sweetest smile.
