Chapter Twenty-Eight.
Lillian didn't wake up in the middle of the night to Zane crying but to a car door being closed. She jumped up and forced her sleepy body out of bed, going over to the window and did her best to look out the dark night to see Ryan's car. She looked at the clock and noticed it was four in the morning.
If he closed that door any harder, he would have woken Zane up.
She sighed and sat on the bed, running her hand through her hair. She heard the downstairs door opened and closed, but the sound of walking up the stairs never came. She assmused he must have taken a friendship to the couch and stayed there.
She wasn't sure if she was happy about that or angry. She isn't sure if she was still mad at him or just herself. Now, it seemed so stupid to fight over going to the movies, but she just wanted a tiny break.
She forced herself back into the bed and fall asleep until it was seven when Zane woke up.
~
After feeding and cleaning Zane off, she changed him into an outfit and went downstairs to find Ryan fast asleep on the couch, his right arm cover his face and the other arm dangling off the coach. She placed Zane in the bassinet and went over to Ryan to wake up so they could talk about last time but when she bent down to touch him and wake him up, she smelt him and her nose scrunched up.
Was he drinking?
She stood up and scuffed, walking into the kitchen and leaned against the counter. So he went to Dillon, drank beer, and what? And does he know how stupid it was to drive home drunk? What if he got in accident?
She purred some water into the coffee machine to make herself a big cup of coffee.
~
Lillian tickled Zane feet after changing his diaper and played eating one of his feet, "Mmmm, yummy!", she said and he did his little smiles. She then button his blue oneies and put his tiny little shoes on his feet, "Well since daddy doesn't want to go any where, me and you will go do something together and have fun doing it.", she said, referring to the park. They only went there once but since Lillian doesn't want to be stuck here anymore, the park sounded like a good idea.
She picked her son up and kissed his cheeks. She was already dressed in some jeans and a red shirts with some sneakers. She grabbed Zane's blanket and a few toys, a book, and her iPod before throwing them into the diaper bag with some diapers and wipes before going downstairs.
Ryan was still on the couch and it was eleven. He was laying on his stomach now and his face was flat down on the pillow. His mother shook her head at him and turned the TV up.
"I should wake him so he could go with you.", she said.
"No, I want to go alone." she said, placing Zane in the bassinet so she could grab the stroller from the garage.
When Lillian opened it up, she rubbed her eyes and signed. She didn't have her glasses on since she kind of lost them but it's not like she badly needed them. She wasn't blind as a bat as everyone in school thinks she is.
She took Zane out of the bassinet and placed him in the stroller. She buckled him up safely in the stroller and put the blanket on him since it was breezy outside a little. Meredith helped her outside and Lillian walked the fifteen minute walker over to the park.
When she was there, some families were here with their kids. She laid out Zane's blanket under a shady tree and placed him on his stomach. He was already use to be on his tummy and he would try to left himself up some times but he would always fall back down.
She took her iPod out, letting it on speaker to play some music. She grabbed Zane's toys and he started sucking on some of them. She grabbed her book and laid down on the grass, her top half on the blanket next to Zane.
She actually felt just a little better. She was outside in the fresh air and Zane didn't cry at all. He was enjoying his time sucking on his toys and throwing them the best he could. He also enjoy grabbing her shirt and sucking on that and pulling her hair when he could reach. She even read some of the book she was reading to him. And some of the little kids even came over to see Zane, saying he was so adorable before they went back to playing.
She stopped her reading after twenty minutes and picked Zane up, going on her back, and held him in the air, "Who's mommy favorite boy? Zane is!", she said, kissing his cheek. "Gosh, I love you so much."
Zane just put his hand in his mouth and she chuckled. She put him back down on the ground and sighed, wishing she could spend this time with Ryan.
After a few moment, a shadow appeared over Lillian and she looked up to see a familiar face. She seen this girl a few times around school, in the upper levels of school. She had beautiful dark long brown hair and she was a little more paler then Lillian last remembers seeing her. In fact, the last time Lillian saw this girl, she was heavily pregnant, but now, she held a baby girl on her waist.
"Hi.", she said. "I was wondering if me and my daughter could join. Two mommies hanging out, play dates for the babies.".
Lillian sat the book down and sat up, "Sure.", she said.
"Thanks.", she said, sitting down and placed the girl on the ground. "I'm Tamara.", she said, holding her hand out.
Lillian shook her hand and nodded, "I know, I've seen your around school before. I'm Lillian.".
Tamara daughter who looked maybe around six or seven months was bending as she tried to pick herself up and she stood, but when she tried to take a step forward, she fell.
"Oh baby, good try though.", Tamara said as she helped her daughter up and placed her on her lap. She breathed in and out loudly, "Hard, huh? How old your boy?".
Lillian picked Zane up and cradled him, "Two months, his name Zane.".
"Mine Julianna.", she said. "Her father picked out her name and I thought it was so beautiful. And Zane perfect for this little handsome boy.", she said, tickling under his chin. "I hear Ryan Miller the father and I can see it. Looks a lot like Ryan.".
"You know Ryan?", Lillian asked.
She chuckled, "I know his brother...well, in a different kind of way of knowing him.".
Lillian looked at her confused before realizing and her mouth formed an O, "Oh.".
She chuckled, "Yeah, yeah, I know. We weren't in a relationship or anything and I was a wild child. I'm sure you hear things about me, about how much I'm a slut and don't know who the father of my baby is.".
"Oh, um, I never listen to any of them or-"
She chuckled again, "It's okay, it's fine if you did. I'll admit, I was a slut, but I didn't see myself like that before I was pregnant. I had many one night stands, but I was smart enough to use protection with those idiots until I met Julianna father. He was older, twenty, but I fell so madly in love with him.".
"So what happened?", Lillian couldn't help but ask.
"I found out he was in the military and I was so upset. Then one night, a week before he left, we made up and we didn't have any condoms with us, but I wanted to do it so badly and just told him to get out before he finishes. He did, but a month and half later, I find out I'm pregnant. I was so scared and thought he'll never want to be with me now when he comes back. I didn't tell anyone and soon I began to show. People made up rumors, I lost tons of my friends who I just realized never were my friends, and my family freaked. But when I was six months, her father noticed when he came home and I told him.".
She smiled, "He was so excited, I had nothing to be scared about all this time. He was all I needed and I didn't care about what anyone said. I had Julianna while he was gone again at a bass and we had to use our iPads so he could watch the birth.", she said, chuckling. "It was kind of embarrassing at one point because one of his buddies came into his room and freaked when he saw what Kale, the father, was watching. I have never been embarrassed in my whole life.", she said, them both chuckling.
"Oh wow.", Lillian said.
"Yeah.", she said. "Julianna changed my whole life forever though, I'm not the same girl I was before. Sure, I wish had some friends to talk to but Kale is there for me whenever he can, but he's always away and I feel lonely sometimes.".
Lillian now felt bad for about fighting with Ryan, knowing he was right about he could have been like most guys his age and not want to grow up, leaving her all alone with the baby. She had him there to help and she over reacted to much.
"So what about you and Ryan?", she asked. "Are you to doing okay?".
Lillian nodded, "Yeah, everything fine. We're together, I live with him and he's a great dad to Zane.".
"But?", she asked, hearing the sadness in Lillian voices.
She shrugged, "I don't know.", she admitted. "I guess just like you, I'm lonely. He's working most of the day and when school comes around, it's going to be like we'll never see each other but at night. And we fought last night because today is my birthday but he has to work later and I wanted so badly to go the movies last night, do something fun since I have been taking care of Zane. I was just to excited I guess and got mad when he came home late cause he wanted to stay at work to watch a football game with his co-workers.".
"Aah, I understand.", she said. "I get it Lillian, I do. You feel lonely, I always feel lonely. Sometimes him helping taking care of Zane isn't enough, you want comfort and to feel loved again.".
Lillian looked at Tamara and nodded, "Yeah, I do. I mean, I only had one friend and that was his ex girlfriend and you can guess how the ended. I have no one to talk to."
"It's alright to feel that way, Lillian. We can be friend, we'll have something to share in common. I could really use a friend and I want it to be with someone around my age, not a snotty married twenty five year old who looks down on me because I had my daughter at a young age. Someone who knows what I'm going through."
Lillian smiled at her, "I would like that."
Tamara smiled, "Great."
~
Lillian walked into the garage with a smile on her face and unbuckled Zane from the stroller, grabbed the diaper bag and throw it on her left shoulder and grabbed Zane from the stroller. She was happy since the rest of the time with Tamara, she actually had a lot to talk about with her about life and their babies, telling their stories.
She was surprised at how much they did have in common. And she was just happy to have a friend now again.
She went inside the house and she found the couch was empty now. She didn't care, not letting it ruin her happy mood as she placed the bag down on the counter and grabbed herself a soda. She grabbed the bag again and when she walked into the living room, Ryan was coming down the stair...not in his work uniform?
He looked like he just taken a shower and was dressed in fresh new cloths, not smelling like beer.
"Ryan, why aren't you in your uniform?", she asked him, placing Zane in the bassinet.
"I'm not going in today.", he said and she looked at him confused. "Today, I'm going to take you both out and be a family.".
Lillian sighed and sat down on the coach, "Look Ryan, I'm sorry about fighting with you last night.", she said, running her hand through her hair, "I just...freaked. I was to excited about seeing the movie and just thought about having some fun for once. Your right, your working hard for Zane and I shouldn't have yelled at you.", she said, looking down at the floor.
He sat down beside her, "Lillian, I'm working for all three of us. I really am sorry I made us miss the movie, I know how bad you wanted to see it. I should have at least called when I realized how late I was and explain."
She turned her face to look at him, "And drinking with Dillon?"
"Another huge mistake.", he said. "I was just angry and upset and he talked me into it. I know what I did was wrong and I shouldn't have driven home. I just had so much on my mind."
"So you didn't do anything else with him, right?", she asked. "Not like have any girls come over or-"
"Of course not.", he said. "It was just me and him in his basement, I promise."
"Okay, I believe you.", she said. "I have something to tell you.", she said smiling. "I met a friend today in the park. Tamara Rogen."
His right eyebrow arched up, "Tarama Rogen? She's a slut, I don't think-"
"No, no, Ryan, she isn't like that anymore.", she said. "And I could tell cause she doesn't dress or act like what she did before and she knows who is the father to her baby. Her baby changed her life and she seem so happy. And we had so much to talk about, it was so amazing to have someone who understand being a teen mom and getting me."
Ryan must have noticed how happy she looked about having a friend again and he smiled, "Okay, if you say she's different and if she can make you this happy, I'm happy for the both of you.". He then put his hand behind her neck, "Look Lillian, I really am sorry about yesterday. I don't want to fight with you and just want to spend your birthday together. If you want to go shower or if you want, relax in a bath, go. I'll watch Zane and we can go to the dinner or wherever you wanna go.".
She smiled, "I'll like that and I don't want to fight either.".
He kissed her and pressed his forehead against hers before letting her to go get shower and this time, she didn't rushed to get shower. She was able to just relax for once.
