Chapter Eleven.
Lillian stuck the spoon full of chocolate ice cream in her mouth as she watched The Notebook. She'd had a pretty bad day today. Fighting with Ryan was not her intention but it happened. He didn't seem like he very much cared about her or the baby.
She had five more months to make him understand how important this is. She stuck another spoon full into her mouth and sighed. She never realized how crappy this movie was. It used to be romantic, but now really cheesy and cliché.
Her bedroom door opened and she turned her head to see her sister walk in.
"Ever heard of knocking?" she asked.
Cassandra rolled her eyes, "Whatever." she said, pulling the blanket and rubbed her stomach. "Make sure you cry a lot when you come." she said to her stomach and Lillian glared at her. "So, mom told me she picked you up from school early today. Ryan sucks anyway."
"Life sucks." Lillian thought miserably.
"Are you going to try to fix it with him for him or her? she asked.
She shrugged, "I don't know. I don't know if I should keep him or her anymore when it comes. I don't want to do it all alone and--wait, why are you caring so much?"
She shrugged, "It's my niece or nephew, and I care a lot."
"Well everything's going to go downhill for me soon." she said. "Jean will hate me soon, the whole sophomore grade will hate me; I'll have a hard time dealing with school and a baby, and I'll be a single mother." she said, her eyes watered up, but she blinked them away. "What do you think I should do, Cassandra?"
"I can't make the choice for you." she said.
"I know. I just want your opinion." Lillian said.
She took a moment, "Well all I have to say is that it's going to be hard but I know you can do it. And there is always homeschooling." she said, slapping Lillian's leg before getting up from the bed and leaving her room.
Lillian found a little comfort knowing her sister was there to support her. Cassandra always went mushy around babies anyways but Lillian was happy that her sister believed in her. She wasn't so much sure about her parents because she knew they wanted her to give it up for adoption. She overheard them in the kitchen, but they also said it was her child and her decision.

Lillian was closing her locker when she noticed Britney next to her locker. She had a grin on her face and Lillian's eyebrows came together, looking at this girl confused.
"Yes, Britney?" she asked.
"I know your secret, Lillian." she said, standing up from the locker she was leaning on.
Lillian skipped a heartbeat and she stood there paralyzed. Secret? She couldn't know. Her throat felt dry and her tongue starting to feel swollen as if a bee stung her tongue. "E-excuse me?" she asked.
She wiggled her index finger and turned around, "Why don't you follow me to somewhere quiet?"
She began to walk and Lillian stood there, scared out of her mind. She licked her lips nervously. She couldn't possibly know about the pregnancy, right?
Lillian hesitated, but she followed Britney over to the janitor's closet and she turned on the lights. Lillian pressed her back against the door, feeling as if she was going to fall.
Britney still had that grin on her face, "I know your pregnant, Lillian." she said and Lillian almost dropped everything in her arms and she was about to go on her knees and beg her not to tell Jeanette.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." she said, clearing her throat.
"Oh come on! Jeanette may be blind enough to not see it, but I can! I was just going to make up a rumor that you are, but now that I know you really are, oh my god! The whole grade is going to flip! Shy little Lillian got knocked up, we all thought you were the smartass, but I guess you aren't enough if you didn't use a condom." she said, crossing her arms over her chest.
Lillian let her hair cover her face in shame, knowing it was no point in lying. She was happy she kept her hair down again today.
"And Ryan Miller is your baby daddy?" she said and Lillian breathing hitched as she looked up at her in shock, about to ask her how does she know that! "How'd you get him to do you, Lillian? He's so hung over Jeanette, so how? Did you get him terribly drunk and rape him?"
"Of course not!" Lillian said, taking a step towards her, giving her a begging look. "But Britney please, don't say anything to Jean, please. I beg you, don't. It was a mistake, a huge terrible mistake! How do you know that anyways?'
"Oh I overheard you two fighting yesterday." she said. "It surprised me so much; I thought my ears were playing tricks on me."
"Please, Britney, don't tell her." she begged again.
"Oh how I love begging." she said with a snake like grin. She was so evil and such a bitch. It made Lillian want to cry right then. She reached out and tucked back one side of her hair, "But don't worry, Lillian dear. I'll make a deal with you."
"Y-you won't tell her?" she asked, her heart racing.
"No." she said and Lillian could breathe again. "If you do something for me." she said and Lillian looked at her confused. "I'm so close to failing Bio and you're in the same class as me; I want you to help me by doing my homework and help me on my tests."
Lillian couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was blackmailing her! Sure it was to help Jeanette, but what Britney is doing is so much different! "You want me to help you cheat?" she asked and Britney nodded. "No! That's wrong to do and-",
"Then I guess Jeanette and the whole tenth grade would love to know who's pregnant!" she said. "And I'm sure she'll love to know who the daddy is."
"Why are you doing this to me?" she asked. "I never did anything to you!"
She shrugged, "Why not? If I have the ability to do something to get what I want, I'm going to use it. I need help in Bio and you're going to help me if you want it kept a secret. But actually, it doesn't look like it's going to be much of a secret much longer; your practically showing." she chuckled. "How far along are you, Lil? Four or five months?"
Tears slid down her face, but Lillian wasn't going to do it. She was going to tell Jeanette in two days, she'd rather Jean hate her but it was better coming from Lillian herself. "I won't do it.", she said, turning around and left the room. She cleaned her face as she walked towards her class.

At the end of the day Lillian couldn't wait to go home. Britney decided not to tell Jeanette for some reason. Lillian couldn't even go out to lunch, spending the whole time in the bathroom. Her stomach was in knots all day and she was scared out of her mind.
Once she got all her stuff packed, she closed her locker and took her phone out of her bag. She had a text from Ryan. She was about to just ignore it, but the curiosity was killing her. She hesitated, but pressed the 'read' button.
'Meet me at my car......please'
She was about to text him back to screw himself but she just grew more curious as to what he wanted. She knew she was stupid to go to his car, but she found her way over to his car. He was parked at the far end, so it took a while and no one that really knew them saw her walk over to it and get in.
"What do you want, Ryan?" she asked, her voice sounded tired.
He started the car, "We're going to my house."
She looked at him confused and as if he was crazy as he drove out of the parking space. "What? Your house? Why?"
"My parents should be told they're going to be grandparents, too." he said and her eyes widened.
"What? You want to tell them without even talking to me first?" she asked. "Ugh, Ryan, what if I don't want to go over there and they think horribly of me?"
"They know who you are, Lillian. They know you're the good girl with good grades. They know about you, they won't say anything bad." he said.
"They won't think that after you tell them!" she said. "Take me home, I don't want to go over there."
"Too bad."
"Take me home."
"No.".
"Take. Me. Home!" she yelled at him.
"No!" he yelled back at her and she was taken aback as her eyes widened. "Stop being so God damned stubborn! I know you hate me now, okay! But I went over to your parents' place, now you're going to mine! More or less, they're going to be yelling at me!" he said, pausing to take some deep breaths. "I'm scared too, Lil. I'm so scared. I don't know how to handle this; I never had to before so give me a God damned break!"
She was about to say something but she knew he was right. She should have taken what he was feeling into consideration. She knew he was scared, but not how much. "I'm...I'm sorry." she said. "I'm just...a big roller coaster of mixed emotions for some reason. But don't surprise me like this next time."
"Fine." he said.
"And another thing." she said and he looked at her confused for a second before returning his eyes to the road. "Britney knows." He swerved a little and Lillian gripped the handle above her head, "Jesus!" she said, apologizing in her head for cursing his name.
"What!?" he exclaimed. "How the hell does she know, Lil?"
"She overheard us arguing yesterday."
"What? Ugh, the evil nosy bitch. I always hated her!" he said, hitting his stirring wheel. Lillian had never seen him that angry before. He ran his hand down his face and through his hair. "Okay, what did she say? Is she going to tell Jean?"
"She said she would if I didn't help her cheat in Bio but Ryan, I said no and she hasn't told her all day. And I would have known if she did because Jeanette would have been flipping out or acting weird around me all day but she hasn't." she said.
He looked at her before looking back at the road, "That's strange. Damn, this is going to look really bad if she tells her first before us."
"I know." she said.
"Damnit," he muttered to himself. "I-I can't even think about that right now, I have to get through with telling my parents first." he said, more to himself as if he was speaking out loud his thoughts. After a couple of moments, he sighed heavily, "I'm sorry for being a dickhead to you yesterday, my anger got the best of me." he said. "I shouldn't have yelled at you like that, you're just not seeing my point of view of this."
"Well what are you thinking?' she asked.
"I'm....I'm so confused. I don't know what to do anymore; I don't know what I'm going to do. I know what you're saying if Jean and I do stay together, she won't want me around him or her. Jean is like that. But I don't want my kid to grow up without a father."
"There's a very simple solution for that, Ryan." Lillian said, knowing she might be taking it too far with him again like she did yesterday, but he already knew her feelings towards him. "It's Jean or your kid. I'm already going to lose her by this, so I don't have much of a choice. My choice now is whether I can handle a kid, leave school for homeschooling, and do it as a single mother or give it to strangers who could take care of it."
He placed his knuckles against his mouth and thought. "I can't make that decision right now."
"I know and I'm not saying you have to." she said as they pulled up to Ryan's house.
He turned his car off and sighed. "Are you nervous, too?"
"Like my heart's about to rip out of my chest." she said. "But your right, they should be told they're going to be grandparents."
"Has the baby starting kicking yet?" he asked, changing the subject.
"Little twinges, you wouldn't be able to feel them yet but I can in my stomach." she said, patting her stomach over her hoodie.
"What does it feel like when he or she does it?" he asked.
"I don't know, I don't know how to explain it," she said. "Maybe like a bubble rolling around in your stomach. Not in a painful way but one that would make you giggle or something."
"Lillian, I know this is going to be awkward to ask, but do you remember much of that night four months ago?" he asked. "I know what happened but can you remember how it felt. I was so drunk."
Her cheeks blushed and she couldn't look at him without feeling more embarrassed. "If you mean did it hurt, yeah a little. But I was so drunk also, I couldn't feel much."
"I was wondering if I hurt you." he said. "I know being your first can be scary."
"I wasn't scared, I can remember that." she said. "Actually, I wasn't even thinking when it happened." she said and Lillian realized this was the first time they were actually talking about what happen that night.
"Was I really crying that night?" he asked and she was trying hard not to smile. "Jeez, me crying? What a punk I am." he said, but chuckled at himself.
"I thought it was sweet." she said, smiling. "It thought it was kind of adorable to see you cry, to know you actually have a heart and feelings. I mean, what kind of guy-",
"Okay, no more trying to avoid it." he said, opening the door and got out.
Lillian took a deep breath before opening the door and followed him up to his house.
