Chapter 1
Standing in the middle of the bustling subway, I kicked the fly away piece of paper near me. So this was the illustrious New York subway everyone and their mother had hated and talked about back at home. I scoffed.
I pulled my beanie further down on my head, a prickle of fear sat at the for-front of my brain. This was a big city, but I was tough. I could make it through. I believed that it would be easy. I had been so wrong. My mom and dad had sent me out here for school, not to get stolen.
Deep breaths helped to calm me. I wrapped myself deeper in my coat, and hugged my purse to my body. I moved with the crowd of people and settled into the subway train. My destination was Manhattan, and I tried everything in my power to remain out of the eyes of strangers. Being alone was bad enough. I most certainly did not want any creeps to find me.
The train pulled into the stations roughly an hour later. I crawled out of my seat and began my trek to my modest apartment. A couple of whistles were sent my way, but I simply lowered my head and trudged on.
My apartment complex was in front of me before I knew it, and I quickly opened the door and slipped inside.
"Hey Delilah!" A friendly neighbor, Jill, waved.
"Hey!" I smiled and waved back. This complex was filled with older couples, and other teenagers.
Pressing my floor on the elevator, I pulled my buzzing phone from my pocket. My phone continued buzz as I checked the ID. No one. It was no one.
I sighed and re-pocketed my phone. My keys jingled as I opened my door. The scent of vanilla hit my nose and I smiled. Home sweet home. Flipping on the lights, my fingers trembled. I needed to get out. I needed to work out.
With-drawl was settled deep in my gut, and I popped open my pantry. I grasped a bag of chips and shut the door. My stomach was not feeling well, so I grabbed something to ease the hunger I felt day in and day out.
Settling down on the couch, I turned on my TV. An ad was on, and I mindlessly watched a half an hour of random junk I found. My ribs were beginning to whine from having a sports bra wrapped around them for too long. Hefting my muscular body up, I wandered to my small bedroom.
Flicking on the lights, I tore my shirt off, and threw it into the hamper. I was going to need to do laundry soon. Making a mental note, I began to pull my bra off and threw it with the rest of my clothing. I caught my eye in the mirror.
Maybe they had gotten bigger? I wondered silently as I turned to inspect my small chest from the side. Nope. They were shrinking.
"Great. Just great." I scoffed and looked down at them. "Come on guys. Cut me some slack. Why did Jana get all the genetics for you."
My younger sister had out grown me at only thirteen. I sighed and pulled on an over sized shirt that said "Julliard" on the back. I had purchased it when I first began my schooling there. Now I was beginning my second semester, and it was getting old.
Pulling on a pair of booty shorts, I walked back out into my living room before plopping onto the couch. My stomach growled, but I had to deny it food. I hadn't worked out yet after all.
My phone was buzzing again. I grasped it and looked at the ID. "Blocked"
"Hello?" I held the phone to my ear.
"Hello darling." A smooth voice entered my world. "Miss me?"
My phone clattered from my fingers. "How did you?"
"Oh honey, I never stopped looking." A cold cackle could be heard.
I pressed end call immediately. This was going to ruin me. My breathing was slowing. A panic attack was setting in. I could feel it in my bones. He had always brought panic and pain. My mind was racing to calm me down.
He had found me. I knew he would. It was only a matter of time before I would quit running away.
