C.1. First Meeting
"Aaaahhh.. Ouch!!! My head!!", She yelped holding her head in her hand as soon as she got up. She pressed her forehead with her forefinger and thumb and did a light massage trying to relieve the pain, but it wasn't of much help.
Her eye fell at an unfamiliar bed lenin hugging her body. She lifts up her head and looks around the room which was very luxurious and spacious. However it wasn't hers.
"What the hell!! Where am I? Aaahhhh.. My head is aching so much!", She cried.
"Here Ma'am, drink this. You will feel better.", a lady dressed in a black and white dress offers her lemon juice.
She looks at the glass and decides to gulp the juice first since at the moment, her first priority was to relieve herself from pain. Hence, she takes the glass from her hand and gulps it quickly. But once done, she notices that the lady was not to be seen in the room. She places the glass on the bedside table and lies back into the bed unable to bear the headache.
After sometime, she hear someone knock at the door. She sat up straight.
"Yes, please come in.", She said.
A young man, dressed in an elegant formal attire, walks inside the room, whom she immediately recognized as Sidharth Mittal, the acting CEO of Mittal lights. Age 31 years.
She face palms and pressed her palm to her forehead. Soon the memory from yesterday flashes infront of her and she curses herself for landing at his house.
His walking style was oozing classy attitude as he approached close to her. (Imagine Men in Black Background Music 😉)
Flashback:
Sidharth picked her up in his arm and walked inside the gate. For the man of his build to lift a lady was like a piece of cake. It seemed like she had passed out after uttering the word "My Auto.." however she soon started singing again with her eyes closed. This time it was her favourite song.
Kehna hi kya yeh nain ek anjaan se jo mile
Chalne lage mohabbat ke jaise yeh silsile
Armaan naye aise dil mein khile
Jinko kabhi main na jaanoon
Woh humse, hum unse kabhi na mile
Kaise mile dil na jaanoon
Ab kya karein, kya naam lein
Kaise unhein main pukaroon
He stared at her briefly and smirked. She kept singing until he reached inside a guest room and put her down. She opened her eyes and stumbled unable to stand on her feet due to intoxication.
Ooo main gir jauungi,
Main marr jaaungi..
Jo tune mujhe thaam na liya..
Oh saun rab di..
He held her arms to support her while shaking his head being annoyed.
"Why do I feel.. like.. like.. puking?" She said leaning against him.
"Oh hell! Please don't", He snapped and quickly grabbed an antique vase kept as a show piece on the nearby table and placed it infront of her mouth.
"Hush! I am not wasting my valuable puke by puking into this dirty looking vase.", She said by pushing his hand away.
He glared at her and yet again picked her up and took her to the bathroom.
"Fine, empty your valuable puke into the most precious commode", he said by putting her down.
"Mittal.. you are smart!", She said tapping his cheek with her forefinger while she tottered to stand on her feet.
He rolled his eyes and turned her quickly to face the commode. Within few minutes she threw up into the commode uncontrollably. Once done, she stood up. While he flushed, she wandered inside the bath staggering and turned on the tap which happened to be of shower.
Dekho baarish ho rahi hain
its raining raining raining
mera dil ro raha hain
my heart its paining its paining its paining
tere liye tere liye tere liye
tere liye ae ae ae ae ae
He looked at her. She was singing and dancing under the shower. He face palmed rather harshly and went on to turn off the shower.
"Varun dev (God of rain), what's wrong with you? Why can't to bless us with rain in abundance? Please some more rain, please", she begged with her folded hands looking up at the shower.
He looked at her with an exasperated expression. He grabbed her arms and dragged her out of the room.
"Varun dev, this isn't fair. You have to fulfill our demands. You can't send your bodyguard to throw me out of your courtroom. I will sue you. You can't silence me. I will rebel and go on strike.", She screamed on top of her voice.
"For heaven sake, just shut your mouth.", he yelled.
She put a finger on her lips and looked at him with puppy eyes. He rubbed his forehead in irritation and walked to and fro few steps. She silently stared at him. He turned to her and spoke showing his forefinger.
"Listen, just go to sleep. I will talk to you in the morning.", He said calmly.
She starts crying like a whiny little baby.
"Arggghhh... What happened now?", He growled.
"I am feeling cold and you are scolding me.", she whined
He looked at her. Her clothes were wet.
"Okay, fine! I am sorry. Just stand over here quietly for few minutes.", He said holding her shoulder to position.
She nodded and stood with a finger on her mouth while he dialled intercom and asked his maid to come. The maid arrived.
"Help her change her dress quickly and dry her hair. Once done ask her to go to bed.", He said.
"Sir, which clothes?" She asked.
"Don't ask me, just arrange something quickly. I have lost my patience.", He said and left the place.
Flashback ends.
"Why do you drink so much when you can't digest it?", Sidharth asks sitting on the one seater luxurious couch infront of her with his legs crossed.
"I don't drink", she said with a straight face.
"Really? So what were you high on last night?", he asked.
"Yesterday was my first time.", She said.
"Hmm.. first then second than third.. that's how it becomes a habit.", He said
"Looks like you've have quite a good experience but I don't intend to become an alcoholic. It's just that I had a rough day yesterday.", She said.
"So that's how you decided to deal with the rough day?", He asks.
"Hey, I ain't your wife to question me so much. Atleast not until now.", She scorned.
He stares at her with a cold face.
"By the way, who changed my dress?", She asked looking at the extremely loose-fit dress.
"You ain't my wife that I would change your dress. Atleast not until now. My maid did that.", He said.
She gave him a cold stare.
Shehnaaz Saxena, a middle class working girl belonging to a joint family. Age 28 year old.
"Listen Ms. Shehnaaz Saxena, I have no interest in getting married at all. But my ailing grandfather thinks that behind every successful man there is a woman and in order to inherit his huge business empire, he wants me to marry you.", He speaks annoyed.
"And I really don't want to marry someone who just considers me a means to acquire a business empire.", She says.
"Then why did you agree to marry me?", He asks.
"Behind every successful man there is a woman and behind every oppressed woman there is a man. For me, that man is my grandfather.", She speaks.
"So you are an oppressed woman?", He asks.
"Hmmm.. In this situation, I am. I wasn't aware until yesterday that I was emotionally blackmailed by my grandfather into agreeing to marry you. He faked illness to get me fulfill his last wish. Both our grandfathers are college buddies and had decided to get their children hitched to each other's but turned out that they became a parent to only male species who unfortunately were hetrosexual as well. So they carried forward their dream to the next generation.", She spoke frustrated.
"Who is stopping you now from saying no? Now that you've learnt that you were duped into the trap called marriage.", He asked.
"I can't, because he took promise from me.", She said innocently.
"What? Promise? Are you serious? Did he undertake it in writing from you on a stamp paper?", He asked.
"No! I kept my hand on his head and promised.", She said.
He rolled his eyes and shook his head in disbelief.
"Hey Mittal, you are a super rich businessman so you don't know the value of promises we middle class people owe. We are the followers of Lord Shri Ram and his principles. Praan jaaye par vachann na jaaye. We keep our promises even if it means death to us.", She said sternly.
"So, you will marry me just because you promised your grandfather?", He asked.
"I don't want to and I can't say no, instead why don't you reject?", She asked.
"I wish, I could! Unlike your grandfather, my grandfather has made a will, which states that I would only inherit all the rights of Mittal's heir if I marry you.", He said.
"So, is this marriage inevitable?", She asked.
"I hate to say this but that's what I think it means.", He says.
"Oh Hell!! Atleast you would get something in return for your sacrifice but what would I get? I am stuck with you for life.", She says irritated.
"What do you want from marriage? You are going to get rich by marrying a rich man.", He says.
"I don't want a rich husband!", She said.
"Interesting! Why would you say this?Let me guess, typical middle-class reason, you love someone else?", He guesses.
"No! But I want to marry someone I love atleast.", She says.
He chuckles.
"What there to chuckle in it?", She asks annoyed.
"Nothing!!", He says.
"I guess, that leaves me with just one option than.", She says.
"And that's?", He asks.
"Jump under a running train instead of throwing myself under the bus called marriage with you.", She says with a frown.
"Hey hey!! I know this decision would be favourable for me but still is that really a better option than marrying me? Am I really that bad?", He asks.
"I don't know. I don't even know you, we are just meeting for the first time. Before this, it was just a picture.", She says.
"See, I don't mind getting married to you if I am inheriting the Mittal empire. So for you either you break your promise or..", he takes a pause.
"Or?", She asks
"There is still 15 days for our marriage. Between my hectic schedule, I can give you an hour everyday. See if there is anything which would make you fall in love with me so that you have a reason to marry me.", He suggests.
"An hour for 15 days? That means 15 hours to fall in love with you. Sounds so... so...", She tries to find a word to describe.
"..funny? Weird?", He suggests and she nods to disagree.
"Irrational!! I mean who assigns time limit to fall in love? Love just happens, isn't it?", She says.
"I don't know all that! For me love is all crap and waste of time! Yet, I am ready to waste an hour everyday until next 15 days. Not for you! It's like an investment for me to inherit billions", he says.
"Huh!! I know it definitely won't work because I can never fall for a person who doesn't believe in love itself. But I will still accept the offer as I don't have any other way out of this.", She says.
"Fine then, let me block my calendar for an hour for the next 15 days and inform you soon.", He says and shakes hand with her before leaving the room.
Shehnaaz laughs loudly.
This has to be the biggest joke of the century. Blocking calendar to fall in Love. Wait!! Perhaps, it's the second biggest, cause at the moment my life tops the list.
