"Why isn't she waking up?" He growled angrily as he folded his arms across his chest afraid of what he would do to the doctor.
"Her body needs to heal," the old gentlemen stated in a sad voice.
Escorting the man to the door they both stepped out of the room.
"Mr King your have visitors," Lyle mentioned as Lee thanked him.
Following the gentlemen to the patio he found his brother, sister and Erica waiting for him.
"How is she?"
"She hasn't woken up yet," he said tiredly.
"Brother are you resting at all?" Beth asked him.
He smiled at his sister in response just as Lyle brought them some tea and sandwiches though no one touched the food.
"I need some fresh air," he said excusing himself as he walked towards the garden.
Thinking to himself he knew he could never leave this woman she was engraved in his heart. He took a deep breath closing his eyes recalling the bruises she currently had from the fight. She had surprised him by taking down that man which showed him just how dangerous she was.
That's what attracted him more towards her. That danger. The control and power she wielded. He had met many women before in high positions but never her caliber. She was his little spitfire and he loved how she opened up to him showing him that she was just a normal being who had vulnerabilities as well. He wanted her always by his side. Leading him. Following her. He didn't care what the situation was for he was happy with her. He simply wanted that happiness.

Walking into the room the steady beep of the heart monitor told him she was still alive. The IV fluid running slowly as she lay asleep. Going to the bathroom he freshened up before joining her on the bed. Taking her free hand he brought it to his lips. The room was quiet except for the steady beep as he watched her sleep before he too joined her.
The following morning he woke up to find her still asleep. Quickly freshening up he went down to prepare breakfast before carrying the tray back to the room she occupied.
Placing the tray on the bed he leaned towards her ear saying, "Baby wake up. I prepared your favorite," before kissing her forehead moving towards her lips.
Expecting no response he was surprised when he felt her kiss him back. Pulling apart he looked at her finding her eyes still closed.
"Love," he whispered as she smiled hearing his surprise. "When did you? Where you awake all this time?" He asked her in confusion.
"Shut up and kiss me," she whispered as he smiled obliging her request moaning when her fingers ran through his hair before she stopped her actions looking at her hand seeing the engagement ring.
"Hmmm hmmm," they heard someone clear their voice as he fed her a piece of watermelon watching her slowly chew it looking exhausted.
The doctor walked further into the room smiling at her.
"Glad to see you awake madam," he said with a slight bow holding the clipboard to him.
"Thank you for taking care of me," she whispered looking at the computer screen that showed her broken rib x-rays.
"I see congratulations are in order," he smiled as he examined her.
"Not yet. I haven't given my answer yet," she said looking at Lee with a smirk.
He simply gave her a knowing expression all over his face as he moved to be beside her on the bed. Going on to open the plate of breakfast he fed her some of the eggs and lightly toasted bread frowning when she refused the bread.
"You need to gain your strength back," he chastised.
"I will be okay," she whispered slowly reaching out for his cheek.
"You don't need to act tough around me love. Everyone else I will understand. But not me," he said softly looking into her eyes seeing her pain. A sob broke the silence as he pulled her into his arms whispering soothing words.
"It hurts," she whispered over and over again before lastly saying, "I don't want to fight you anymore."
This is how she fell asleep in his arms. Holding her closely he watched over her as she slept wiping away her tears.

"It's good to see you walking around the house," she heard her brother say making her stop as she leaned all her weight on the cane. Jabulani had done a far worse number on her so it seemed. Some cracked ribs. Bruises all over her torso. She hasn't realized she had twisted her ankle during the fight. Only realizing so after the pain medication wore off and her body introduced her to all its aches.
"It's good to be alive," she smiled at Alex pulling him into a hug.
Stepping back to look at her his smile widened.
"When is the big day?"
"Not sure yet. He hasn't properly proposed and I was high on medication so never said anything," she said with a smirk.
"You two are meant for each other," he chuckled offering her his arm in order to escort her outside for some fresh air. "I believe this is the beginning of a new chapter in your life sister," he said wearing a sincere smile as she sighed wearing a smile.
