The Meal

1348
Chapter Seven
The Meal

"I have some guards outside and inside on patrol, they're searching for whoever it was that you saw." Francis assured me as he entered the dining room.

He looked over at Arthur who was sitting beside me at the table, but neither said a word.

Antonio, Lovino, and Feliciano sat down around the table, it was a pretty big dining room for only us, six.

"We're well protected in here, so let's have that meal you wanted oh so badly, then we'll talk about this." Francis raised the ring, he held it in his hands, it was now clean.

I nodded as he continued, "This ring is made of gold, you know, you can always sell it if you don't want it. I'm sure it's worth a good amount of money." He laughed lightly and put it on, "or you can give it to me, I look good in jewelry."

Arthur rolled his eyes, "First of all, you know you don't. Second, give her back the ring, she's better off selling it." He spoke, he held his hand out for Francis to put the ring in his hands. However, as Francis tried to take the ring off, he quickly became anxious as he realised that it was stuck. "Not again." He mumbled quietly, frantically pulling at it.

"You. Are. An idiot." Arthur sighed, letting his hand fall to the table top.

After we had finished eating, Feliciano, Lovino, and Antonio left Francis, Arthur, and I in the dining room.

"Before you go to bed, _____, we do have to talk about this." He raised his hand, showing the ring to us.

"R-Right, it's a gold ring, goodnight." I spoke, wanting to avoid the topic.

"I know that, and that's not what we were going to talk about, sit down, will you?" He sighed.

I say back down and crossed my arms, "There's not much to tell, really, I got dressed and saw the ring on the drawer, after that I called for Arthur then we saw a glimpse of a person leaving through the window."

Francis tugged at the ring on his finger as I explained myself, "Perhaps it was jut our minds playing a trick, don't you think? After all, who would know that we are out here?" I asked.

"I can name a few people." Francis stated. "Samantha escaped a while ago, she could have told someone about this place. Then there's that spy friend of ours." Francis laughed as he looked at Arthur.

"What spy friend?" Arthur wondered aloud.

"James, remember? He's working as a servant in Johnny's castle place, he could have given up our location, or it was him who you saw." Francis explained.

"What? James? He's a traitor too?" Arthur asked, flabbergasted.

(A.N: flabbergasted is a funny word.)

"Yeah, you should really consider interrogating the strangers you ask to join you in your adventures." France joked.

Arthur frowned as he turned towards me, "You aren't going to betray me, are you?" He asked. I laughed, thinking is was a joke, but as I realised he wasn't joking, my laugh turned into a cough, "Oh, no."

"Good." He spoke, turning back towards Francis, "While we are here, can you now explain to me why we are in France?"

Francis' expression changed as he took his eyes off of the ring and stood up, "It's getting dark out, you two should really go to bed now."

Arthur squinted over at me, my eyes widened, it's not like I wanted to be the one to tell him that the plague had hit London. "You know, don't you?" He asked me.

I quickly shook my head, "What? That's obsurd! I don't know anything!" I bit my tounge, I was nervous and didn't sound believable one bit.

"Francis! Get back here!" I ordered, standing up.

"No! Get away! You tell him!" He shouted at me. I frowned, following after him quickly, "You can't make me say it!" He stuck his tongue out at me. I frowned and picked up a fork.

"Francis, stop running, you're acting like a child!" I raised the fork at him.

As he was about to turn around the table, he past by Arthur, allowing Arthur the chance to tackle him, "Just tell me why I am here, already!" He ordered.

"Because of the plague, now let me go!" Francis cried out.

Arthur's grip loosened and Francis went free, "The plague? What do you mean?" Arthur asked.

"That lethal disease, Arthur, Francis heard from some people that it was going to spread quickly, so he brought you and the others here, and it's pretty isolated out here..." I explained.

"What?" Arthur asked.

"She said, that letha-" Arthur cut Francis off, "Yes, you bloody twat, I heard her, but I'm shocked here." He frowned.

"Oh, I see, well, take your time then."the room remained silent for a whole before Francis finally spoke again, "What a day, am I right? Honhon, I mean, really, right?" He looked at me then over at Arthur then back at me.

"Maybe you should sit down." I motioned Arthur to the seat.

"Yeah..." He quietly dragged his feet and sat down on the chair.

"How did this happen?" He asked after a brief moment.

"Ugh, I'm not sure..." I responded, "but I'm sure everything will be over soon, after all, our medicine is improving, you know, and soon enough, I'm sure some wise doctor will come up with a cure to heal everyone."

"You're right." Arthur agreed, "But I can't just hide out here while everyone I know in England is dying." He stood back up, "I need to go back."

My eyes widened slightly, "Wait just a minute, Arthur, the plague is deadly if you're not careful, do you understand what that means?" I asked, staring into his eyes.

"Deadly means you can die." Francis answered my rhetorical questioned. He walked beside Arthur and laughed, "Plus if you die, who am I going to fight against in the Hundred Years' War?"

"The Hundred Years' what now?" Arthur asked, confused.

"Huh? Oh, my apologies, what was the name of the book again?" Francis asked.

"1348, I think, it's the same year we are in, Francis." I responded.

"Oh, honhon, silly me, I was off a century." He smiled.

"What the bloody hell are you both talking about? What book?" Arthur rudely inturupted.

"I don't know what you are talking about, Arthur, maybe this talk of going back to England is making you sick, you should go lay down." I responded.

"What? I'm not sick and there's no way I'm going back to sleep, I honestly just woke up from a comma!" He argued.

"Arthur, are you okay?" Francis asked, raising his hand to Arthur's forehead to see if he was sick.

"I'm fine! Get your hands off of me, you slimy frog!" Arthur shouted, pushing Francis' hand away.

Francis and I stared at him, shocked by his sudden change of attitude. I didn't know what to day, so I pulled at his hand, "It's okay, Arthur, it's okay..."

"What are you talking about? This is not okay, I am not okay with this fourth wall bull-" Francis cut Arthur off quickly, "Arthur, look, tea!"

"Tea?" Arthur asked as he turned around to see the kitchen doors open, Feliciano came running over with a teacup in his hands.

Arthur's eyes brightened as Feliciano handed him the cup, but once Arthur had the cup, his smile disappeared, "Feliciano... Did you just fill this teacup with pasta?"
