It Wouldn't Break
"Finally!" I shouted as I jumped out of a bush, gripping the amulet tightly with both hands. Why white undershirt was covered in ash and the bottom of my pants were burnt off, as were the bottoms of my shoes. I frowned, all of this trouble and there's not even a scratch on it.
I snapped my figures, cleaning myself off, my clothes were back to normal in an instant; I can't say the same for the property I've just dystroyed.
I set the amulet on the ground, digging a small hole for it to stay in.
I thought back to the book Johnny and his idiot father wrote up, it only scratched the surface of what I was and what I could do, that book however, contained nothing about how to open this stupid amulet or how to break it.
Out of frustration, I kicked the stone I was going to use to try to squish the amulet, I then collapsed in the ashes as I grabbed my foot, I let out a scream, I was in pain and frustrated. Stupid rocks...
"Hey, what are you doing?" I heard someone shout at me. I sat up, combing my hair back with my fingers, it was just Francis, followed by Antonio and the two Italians.
"What do you care?" I hissed, brushing myself off, damn, my outfit was messy again, I snapped, cleaning myself off once more.
"We care because you have been out here for the past four hours, we've literally been watching you from that window and we are curious as to why you burnt my entire yard... You know, maybe we should know." Francis spoke.
"What do you think I'm doing?" I slurred.
"Well, you were just crying because you kicked a rock." Lovino muttered.
"I was not crying!" I hissed, "I was just reflecting my inner feelings."
Antonio's eyes then came across a glistening amulet hidden in the dirt, "Is that the amulet?" He asked, walking towards it.
"No!" I shouted, jumping at him, knocking him to the floor.
"Get that!" Francis shouted, pointing to the amulet.
"I told you no!" I shouted, burning a circle around us all, "it's mine and I want to be free again." I gritted my teeth.
"Is it a magic necklace?" Feliciano asked holding the necklace.
When did he manage to get past me and grab that without me noticing?
"Hand it over." I ordered.
"No, don't, Feli-ah, it's too late, you already gave it to him." Francis tried.
I smiled as I was about to walk past the flames, as I got close to them though, a sort of force-field held me inside, "What the hell?" I shouted, pushing against this invisible force.
"You can't leave!" Feliciano spoke.
I frowned, turning towards him, the flames grew greater and hotter, turning from red flames to a bright blue, "Let go of connection you have with this thing." I ordered.
He shook his head, "Only if you tell us why you want it so badly."
"I want it so that I can be free." I repeated myself.
"Free to do what?" Francis asked, he tried to touch the invisible field, but quickly found out that it was only holding me in, also, the flames won't hurt me. His jacket sleeve quickly caught ablaze, causing him to panic and run around.
"Free to kill Johnny." I laughed lightly, "Now hand over that amulet."
---
"So what do you think they're doing out there?" I asked, eating some grapes that Lovino had freshly picked.
Was it even grape season? Who knows? It probably wasn't but the one out there probably doesn't know anything about agriculture.
"I don't know, but I'm sure they're fine, just like you-" Arthur's eyes locked onto mine as he said this, he quickly changed the ending of his sentence, "You-er-your arm! It's fine now, I fixed it." He spoke, looking away. His cheeks changed to a soft pink.
I looked over at my arm, he had bandaged it, I'm not sure exactly why but he said that my bruise would get infected. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works though..
"Oh thanks." I smiled.
It felt strange being alone with him, but at least I wasn't a nervous wreck like before. To be honest, I wasn't too excited to be near him anymore, I sort of just lost that happiness after Francis came back to life.
"H-Hey, do you want anything to drink?" He asked, stuttering in the begging. He wasn't making any eye contact with me, which I found strange.
"No thanks." I responded.
"Right, sorry, I'm going to go get a cup of tea, I'll be right back then." He spoke quickly, straightening himself out, he walked past me and headed towards the kitchen.
As he left, I heard some shuffling upstairs, but the only thing upstairs was the attic, we were on the top floor. I knew it wasn't the attic man because Antonio made him move to the basement to guard the mice and Samantha.. Yeah..
I sat still trying to listen, then suddenly there was the sound of a creeping door, it was the door that lead to a small staircase that brought you to this room.
I stood up, quietly making my way to the door behind me that would lead you downstairs and to the kitchen. My heart was pounding, who could have possibly managed to get up there without Arthur or I seeing them?
Afterall, climbing your way up wasn't hard if you were fit, but all the windows and doors - every entrance - was locked. Unless for some reason, there es a window in the attic that was left unlocked by a man who was previously living in it...
I took a few steps back, approaching the door that lead down. Once I felt my back hit the door, I felt for the doorknob and quickly opened the door, allowing me to escape just in time. I left the door open a tad so that I could look in.
I don't know whether I regret that or not, I saw Johnny open the door on the other side slightly and look around. When he saw no one was in the room, he opened the door entirely and entered.
I could hear Arthur's footsteps getting closer, I looked over at him, raising a finger to my lips and pointing to the door I was leaning against, he understood that I meant for him to be quiet, there was someone in there.
I moved out of the way, letting him look through the crack in the door, his eyes widened like mine when he saw Johnny, we all expected him to come through the front door, you know, like a normal person, not the attic, I mean, how could he even know if that window was open or not up there?
There was another loud explosion, causing Johnny to jump, he looked around for a place to hide, but there was nothing. He must have assumed that he set something off or something.
Arthur took this as an advantage and took a step back, taking my hand in his and quietly pulling me along, down the hall so that we could avoid conflicts with Johnny without the others for assistance.
Arthur must have understood that he shouldn't face him head-on, alone.
It took a while since we had to be careful, but we managed to sneak our way downstairs and then make it to the living room, everyone was barley entering as well, their clothes were tattered and ruined, their skin covered in ashes.
"Bonjour again." Francis coughed, falling back onto a couch.
"We did it! There was a cart coming not too long ago with a man who looked like Johnny and we blew it up! He's dead now!" Antonio said proudly,
I tilted my head as Arthur shook his head, hushing everyone, "he's here and he's in the attic. That cart must have been a decoy and that man just someone he paid to drive here as distract us all."
"He's in the attic?" Francis sat back up.
Arthur nodded, so Francis turned towards Feliciano who entered the room on a unicorn, "Feliciano, can you make Justin clean us up so that we can go and deal with Johnny?" He asked.
The unicorn at that moment turned into what looked like a human but was actually just Justin, as he turned into a person, Feliciano fell off and onto the floor, "Ow!" He cried.
"Fuck no, I agreed to work with all of you but where do you think magic comes from?" He twitched.
"Friendship." I muttered, no one heard.
"You are going to work me to death, just give her the amulet, at least she didn't wish for fucking unicorns." He shouted.
"No, but I could." I spoke.
He shot me a glare and continued, "Look, I agreed to work with you all, just hand her the amulet because you definitely won't be freeing me from this thing anytime soon."
"You still have your knife, right?" Arthur crossed his arms, talking to Felicaiano. He nodded and raised it, "Here!" He exclaimed.
"Good, you have a weapon, now, hand that amulet to _____ and we can all have a weapon to defend ourselves."
Feliciano nodded and pulled the amulet off and handed it over to me, "Here you go, bella." He smiled.
I took it back and put it on, Justin turned towards me now, "Break that thing. I mean it, I can do so much more when you set me free, and that way, if Johnny happens to catch you alone, you won't possibly get the amulet taken away from you."
Time seemed to slow down and the world turned grey slowly, "Listen to what I'm saying, if amulet gets taken from you, I won't have a choice but to listen to whoever took it from you, understood? This is going to be a burden for the both of us." He tapped the amulet and as everything began to gain it's colour, he disappeared in an instant.
I blinked a few time and felt Arthur's hand on my shoulder, "I said I would protect you before and now I will, come with me to a safe room and the others will search and take care of Johnny.
I nodded and took his hand, following him to one of the many rooms. If what that demon said was true though, should I listen..?
---
Samantha coughed up some of her blood as the man finally broke the chains on her legs, "There we go, I'm sure my boy is here and now we can assist him against those juvenile brats." He snickered, "And you can get money to pay for the cure of whatever disease it is you have."
--------------------------
I would say plot twist but by the time I stated that he was Johnny's dad, would you have been surprised? >_>
I hate how my math teacher is giving us our final today instead of yesterday, I mean, I could have skipped today, but no ;^;
Now I'm like the only person in my class and I'm sad ;-;) I have to wait hella long just for a stupid test in my next class.
Goodbye, remember to smile ;u;
