Chapter Ten
Explanation

"So long ago, I bought it from a guy in the streets at night, because it seemed that he was very trustworthy and all, so he gave it to me." Francis spoke.

Because of course, buying something from a stranger on the streets at night is always smart..

"Okay, so what you're saying is that you bought this from a man on the streets and you have no idea why you went out of your way to hide it under some tiles?" Arthur asked.

Francis smiled and nodded eagerly, "Yes, exactly, I'm glad you both understand, can you untie me from this chair so I can leave now?"

Arthur turned towards me and raised his eyebrows, I shook my head 'no', trying to ignore the fact that I'm just now realising how huge his eyebrows are, how did I miss that the past chapters? They take up half of his face, he needs to get those things under control..!

Arthur turned back and smiled at Francis, "Maybe we should leave you until dinner so you can speak?" He stood up half way before Francis rocked foreword in the chair, crying, "Please no, not another hour!"

Arthur sat back down and laughed, "Then why did you hide this?"

"I hid it because I stole it from Johnny, but only because he told me my hair was flat and ugly! I hid it because it scared me!" He explained.

"So you stole it? You knew Johnny?" I asked.

"Not personally, he visited last season so that we could become friends, but it didn't end well, obviously." He huffed.

"What? I thought you said that no one knew of this place's location!" Arthur exclaimed.

"Well not a lot of people, you know, I try to make friends and so, only certain people know about this place." He spoke.

"Yes, but if he suspects you of assisting Arthur in kidnapping me, then he will find his way here with ease." I spoke.

"Yeah, that's if he ever suspects me, which he won't, so relax, untie me, we can laugh about this whole thing over some grape wine, I'm giving red wine a vacation. Say, what's that made of? If grape wine is made of grapes, is red wine made of red? Is that some sort of ingridient? Is red code word for-" Francis continued to think aloud as I turned over to Arthur.

"He hasn't said much about this other than the fact that it scared him, but how?" I asked, holding onto the necklace.

"Maybe it's black magic?" Arthur asked, the room felt tense all of the sudden.

I then burst out into laughter, "Haha, come on, I know it's the 13th century and all, but can we at least be logical and scientific here? Black magic? Haha!"

Arthur's face heated up, "it's the 13th century, of course we can't be logical and scientific about this!"

My laughing soon came to an end, "Right... Well, in that case, oh god, black magic? What kind of horrid things did Johnny do with that kind of power?" I gasped.

Arthur rolled his eyes before responding, "Well, we could ask a sorcerer or magician for one-"

"For fucks sake." I inturupted, leaving the room with the necklace in one hand.

As the doors closed behind me, I looked down at the necklace, maybe there was a book on it or something I could use to know why Johnny had it. Maybe we're all just reading too far into it and it's completely useless.

Still, I sort of wish it has some magic power, I mean, how cool would that be?

"_____!" I looked up to see Feliciano running towards me, "Help me!" He cried.

"With what?" I asked, hiding the necklace behind my back.

"I went to go check on the pasta, but someone has eaten it!" He exclaimed. I sighed, "You ate it for breakfast, remember?"

"No, no, I mean, si, we did, but we just made this pasta, and someone ate it!"

I squinted, "Right, well, why don't you show me where you had this at." I spoke, trying to help him out. "This way!" He pointed towards the kitchen.

We entered, the smell of food and warmth quickly hitting us, "I had it right here, but the bowl was empty." He spoke.

"Well..." I but my lip, "Didn't Lovino or Antonio just eat it?" He shook his head, "No, they're picking the food from one of the gardens on the other side of the castle." He spoke.

I turned to see the bowl, it was still hot from when it was holding food, so it was eaten recently.

"Who else knows their way around this castle and doesn't want to be seen?" I thought aloud.

"Samantha!" Feliciano shouted.

"Yes, but I don't think she had the layout of this place down unless she was staying here the entire time we thought she was missing..." I spoke.

"No, bella, Samantha is right behind you!" He explained, nervously.

My eyes widened as I turned around to see her sitting on the counter, "Oh... Well, hello again." I gulped.

"Yes, hello." She frowned.

---

""You have a library don't you?" I asked Francis as I untied him from the chair finally.

"Oui, a magnifique collection of French books and sacred documents. Not that I would let you anywhere near it with those big stupide, greedy hands of yours!" He shouted.

I frowned slightly as I tightened the ropes that were holding him down again, "Non, non! I surrender, let me go!" He shouted.

"Hah, you surrendering to me will never get old, you know." I laughed as I let the ropes fall down. He pushed them off and stood up, "Now, it's this way." He spoke, leading the way upstairs.

---

"Hey bastard, does this tomato look a little green to you?" Lovino asked.

Antonio looked over, "No, you're just a bit colour blind."

"You fucking bastard, you take that back! I am not colour blind, I am perfect colour blind, don't start your bastard shi-" he continued to shout.

Antonio sighed, "I wonder why the author felt like she needed to put this into the story, it makes no sense and does not help the plot progress." He spoke.

At that moment, Antonio was assaulted by a slightly green tomato, "Ow!" Antonio rubbed his arm, "Lovino, why?"

"You bastard! You can't go breaking shit like that wall like that!" Lovino explained.

"I'm sorry, but did you really have you throw that tomato at me?" He asked, looking down as it sat, dusty on the ground.

"Yes, yes, I did... Bastard."

---

"Johnny!" Someone shouted at me as they entered the room.

I frowned as I turned towards them, the doors slowly closed behind them.

"That's Sir Johnny to you." I spoke.

"Right, well, Sir Johnny, we received an anonymous tip telling us the location of an old wooden house, five miles from the river-" I interrupted him there.

"Why the bloody hell should I care?" I hissed.

"You should bloody care because that's where the enemies took your bride."

"Bride? Ugh, no, call her by her name, it's more suitable, I was only going to marry for her wealth and to gain the property she was to inherit in Spain."

"Listen kid," he spoke, frowning at me, my eyes widened as he spoke back to me, who does he think he is?

"Miss _______ may be a danger and as she holds more authority than you, we work for her family not you, is that understood? With that said, you could not pay me or my men to pay you any damn respect if you choose to act so foolishly." He was shouting. At me? Was he honestly shouting at me? What a pathetic man...

The room was silent since we were the only two in the room, after a while though, he finally spoke, "While searching te resident and asking around, we came upon this." He held up a hair pin.

"That it?" I raise a brow.

"No Sir, you see, we know that this is a French hairpin due to the engraving in the inside, perhaps she used it in an attempt to escape? It is unknown. But most windows have the locks on the outside rather than the inside."

My eyes lit up, "French, you say?" I asked.

"Yes, do you know anyone who would want to hurt you? No wait, in order to shorten the list, do you know anyone who is French perhaps?" He asked.

I frowned at the way he phrased it. People don't hate me, they all admire me!

"Maybe just one." I answered honestly, I stood up from my desk as turned towards a book case behind me, from a drawer, I pulled out a small box.

It was now empty, I'm sure he was the one who robbed me when I went to go visit him a while back.

Idiot... Maybe he knows what it's capable of doing...? No, that would be impossible, I've kept it a secret from everyone I know, but still, of he figures out how to use that amulet, I could be ruined.

"Francis Bonnefoy." I gritted my teeth.

Forget the girl, I have to find that amulet first. Once I do... Everything I ever wanted will be mine at last!
