Clay pov

I walked into the Crestmont for my first day on the job, I heard that I will be trained by someone who has already been working. I am excited to start the job and find out who I will be working with.I got into the Crestmont and I saw a girl wearing a matching uniform and talking to someone with a clipboard.Her curls fell over her shoulders as she turned and saw me with a bright smile.I smiled nervously as she walked towards me and she says "Hey my name is Hannah.Hannah Baker." A bright smile appeared upon her face.I smiled nervously and said "Hi I am Clay Jensen." "nice to meet you.I will be training you around the ropes of working here at the Crestmont." I nodded and looked around the place and nodded with a cracked smile.The manager comes over and hands Hannah a peice of paper."Here wear this." She says as I looked at the piece of paper with tape and it says "TRAINEE".She placed on me gently and she says "follow me." I followed her behind the counter and she grabs a popcorn cup and placed some freshly popped popcorn inside and guided me over to the butter station.She pumped some butter on top of the popcorn and she turned to face me and said "Like so." She handed me the cup and said "now if they ask you if it real butter what do you say?" "It's a butterbased product." I say."And smile when you say it." I raised a eyebrow as I grew silent from nervousness. "I know terrifying." She says as she widened her eyes.She walks to the other side of the counter and she says "but it solves the big lie." Her curls fell over her shoulders once more as I knew that she was a beautiful girl.She leaned down and grabbed some napkins and she says "a little trade secret.If they are cute.Only put butter on the top, so that they come out for more during the movie."She says with a slight smirk."oh..why?" I asked."so that you can chat them up." she says as she placed the napkins in the holder."Chatting isn't really my thing." I said. She looked over at me and she says "I like it.I think we will get along.As long as you remember that I started working here three weeks before you, so I have seniority."She placed the napkin holder to the side and bent down to grab some straws."which is insane if you think about it.Because I literally moved here two months ago and have no idea what I am doing." She assorted through the straws as her back faced me."I think it is going..well." I said with a slight crack in my voice.She turned and she walked towards me as I walked closer.She was looking through the assortment of drawers and said "do you like it..here?" "at the Crestmont? I find the various smells fasicnating." I said as I took in the aroma of the movie theater popcorn.She looked up at me with a bright smile and said "no..this town." I shook my head and I felt stupid in this moment in time."I don't really have anything to compare it to. I've lived here all my life..it's like asking hon solo how is space?" She looked up at me with a grin and said "wow, your a actually nerd aren't you?" I grinned and she says "I like it.It take courage being a nerd." I could already tell that she wasn't like many girls at Liberty High.She was different then other girls and I feel like Hannah Baker is going to be a fresh start that I have needed.Freshman year wasn't the best year for me from all the rumors, and the bullying I knew that sophomore year I wanted and needed a change.

Hannah pov

The second I met Clay I could tell that he was different then alot of the other guys I have met. I am new to this school and to this town so having a friendly face nearby may help me get through it. I need a fresh start from my old school and new town, I just hope that this is the fresh start I am looking for. 

THE NEXT DAY

I walked outside and I saw through the glass the Clay was showing up to work.He was unbuckling his helmet strap beside his bike and I said "Love the helmet." as he turned and I grinned and said "it's adorable." He took his helmet off and said "adorable like a helpless baby animal I am guessing." I stood in front of him and I say "aren't you afraid of helmet hair." Clay smiled and said "my hair does the same thing, it just sits there."I started running my fingers through his hair as he looked into my eyes."you just need some product.A little effort to style it and blow dry it in the morning." "and sacrifice my masculinity?" Clay asked."that ship has sailed, don't we think?" I said with a smirk as I started to walk away.Clay followed behind me and said "sorry that I like to keep my brains inside my head." I walked over to the ticket booth and grabbed the clipboard from the other side."instead of some other region like most boys?" I turned around and I patted his shoulder and said "come on helmet.you got bathrooms to clean." Clay followed me towards the door and saw "you mean we got?"I smirked as I looked down at the schedule on the clipboard."hmm..I don't actually."I opened the door and I turned around to face Clay."oh and party at my house tomorrow night.Your invited." I looked down at the helmet in his hand and said "don't bring the helmet." I walked in the movie theater and Clay followed me in and says "Cool...um where do you live?" 

Clay pov

I was nervously excited to go to Hannah's party. I was glad to be able to find a new friend here at Liberty High someone I can talk to.I wanted to get to know Hannah better and I really like her.I pedaled my bike and I saw Hannah's house in sight. I saw a crowd of people outside and inside her house.I parked my bike along the side of her house and I unbuckled my helmet clasp and nervously walked up the door. I walked in and I looked around for Hannah in sight when a voice caught my attention up the stairs."Clay! Clay's here." Kat and Hannah come running down the stairs and Hannah says "you owe me five dollars." I raised a eyebrow and said "you bet on me.?" Hannah winked at me with a slight smile and Kat says "against you." Then after a little bit of discussion of how it has been a decade since I have been at a party.The three of us made our way to the kitchen."quite a turn out.Seems that everyone is happy to see you go." "I only threw this so that Hannah can meet some people, before I depart this relm." Kat says as she walked around to the other side of the counter."I met Helmet." Hannah says as she exchanged glances with me."Clay dosen't count, you met him at work." "I feel it should count." I stepped in and said."Of course you do.Alright refills, Clay what is your refill.?" Kat asked as she grabbed a new red solo cup."umm..Sprite." Hannah looked over at me with a grin and Kat says "That's priceless.Your a gem, you'll have a beer." Kat says as with a smirk as she walked towards me and Hannah."sure..I like beer." Tyler caught our attention when he said "Kat." She got in the middle of me and Hannah as we posed for a picture.Tyler snapped a photo as Kat then walked away.Hannah grinned at me and says "stop having so much fun Clay." "I'm having fun. totally...Whoo!" I said with a slight dose of enthusiasm.Hannah unbuttoned the first button on my shirt as she looked into my eyes."Your too buttoned up." She says. "oh." I started to button it back up as we both laughed and chuckled with one another.After Bryce came along and talked to Hannah he walked away when Kat reappears."ew no.Solid no Hannah.He is like frat boy, dark vadar." Kat says."He didn't seem that bad.." "i was being kind." Kat steps in and says."she kind of was." I said and Hannah turned around for a moment towards me."I think I will have a drink to." she says as she bites her lip nervously.She started to walk away and Kat says "alright, princess Lela." Hannah turned with a slight smirk and said "omg you are both nerds." I saw the curls fall off her shoulders once more as I saw her walk away.Kat exchanged glances and she stepped closer to me when she saw Hannah wasn't in sight."are you gonna tell her?" "tell her what?" I asked as I rasied a eyebrow."please..I've known you this entire century." I sighed as I knew I failed at a attempt at hiding that I have a crush on Hannah."well give me a break. I am not good with.._ and the gay rumors just recently subsided." I said with a slight smile."so the stakes are high for you." Kat says in a sacrastic tone."it's like around her I can be different. you know, like I am the new and improved Clay Jensen.High school sophomore, archaeologists slash adventurer." I grinned nervously as I looked down feeling the heat rise in my cheeks as I talked about Hannah. Kat then says "you should ask her out." I looked back up at her and I said "are you sure I should do that? she might not even see me that way." "come on, just go for it.Based on my past experience she has terrible tastes in guys..but I think you'll be the best choice for her." I smiled up at Kat and said "thanks.." "so just go for it." I nodded and I then said "so you won't say anything to her?" "only if it comes up." Kat says with a smirk as she walked away."kat.._"

Hannah pov

Kat moved away before the start of school.She was the kind of friend who couldn't be replaced.I ran my fingers through my hair as I looked over and saw Clay coming towards me. I smiled back at him and walked along side me and said "hey Helmet." He looked back at me and said "Hey..Hannah." I smiled nervously back at him as I felt my heart racing a little bit."so um..Kat;s gone." "yea that sucks..I still try to talk to her when I can.You?" He nodded in agreedment when he turned to face me and says "hey are you going to the basketball game today?" I looked over at Clay as the sun reflected off his face."That actually sounds like fun.And I want to get the complete highschool experinence..so?" "So I guess I will see you there then?" Clay asked with a cracked smile." I guess you will."The bell rang as Clay looked over into my eyes."I should get to class." I said."Oh yea.I will see you later." "Bye helmet." I walked away from him and smiled to myself as I headed to class.

AFTER SCHOOL

I sat in the bleachers in the school's gym watching the game. I looked over and saw Tyler down taking pictures of the sight.I looked over and saw Clay coming towards me trying to make his way to find a seat."Clay, Clay Jensen!" I called out his name and I said "Helmet!" Making him look up at me.I waved to him and came up to me and brushed past others in the bleachers. He stood beside me and I said "Did you get lost on your way to library?" "um..Coach patrick assigned us game for history homework..so?" "so..Sit." I said with a cracked smile.He nervously smiled back at me as he sat beside me.I flipped my hair and said "when you always stand and figit it makes me anxious." He pulled out a tootsie roll and opened the wrapper."tootsie roll?" I laughed and I said "How can you eat those? like seriously what does that look like to you?" I looked over at Clay as he says "like all that's good and sweet in the world." He takes a bite out of the candy bar causing me to chuckle and roll my eyes.As we started to watch the game on of the players from ours hit the ball to our side."woo! Yea.!" I stood up and I cheered out to the crowd and clapped my hands together."whew! go tigers." Clay looked up at me with a grin.After the game ended and people filed out of the gym Clay walked beside me and says "Hannah I want to ask you something?" I turned to face him as he stratched the back of his neck."umm..I was wondering.I don't know if people ask people this like in the world. But I was wondering if you would like to go on a date with me?" He looked down at the floor, fearing my reaction.I smiled and I said "yea..I would love to Helmet." he looked up at me with a smile and a raised eyebrow and said "you would?" "yea. it sounds like fun." He showed a bright smile and said "um..great how about tommorow night?..at 7?" "Sure that would be great." I felt the heat rise in my cheeks as I started to walk home."yea I will see you later." I smiled back at him as I walked across the street. I feel that going on this date with Clay will be the new start I needed and he is really nice and I feel something between us.I couldn't wait to go on this date with Clay.
