Third Day
in which Chat Noir discovers the cheer in his bugaboo
The blissful, beautiful and silent night had fallen. (AYYYY PUNS) Stars shone brightly, but even Chat Noir could admit that their beauty was outshined this night, and possibly more to come, by the decorative Christmas lights.
Lights of all sorts, all colours draped across trees and strung along between street lamps, hung up on the awnings and windowsills of homes lining the streets. Shadows danced when the bulbs flickered, lighting up tinsel and wreaths that sparkled with light reflecting off them in every which way.
"Stunning, isn't it, chaton?"
A smooth voice sounded from just behind him, the smile apparent in her familiar tone.
He grinned, although not quite as gentle as hers. "Not as stunning as you, milady." He winked as he kissed her hand, bowing like the gentleman he was.
Ladybug shook her head, grinning as she pulled her hand from his grasp. "Those flickering lights on the grand tree beg to differ."
"Those lights are embers in your presence, dimmed by your blinding glow." He pulled her close to his chest and led her in a short waltz as the music from the streets below drifted up. A spin, a dip, and he was staring into her glorious eyes, a smirk on his face and an amused grin on hers. "See? I can barely look at you."
"Mm. Shame, I am quite a sight, red with black spots skin tight suit and childish pigtails. Just imagine, before anyone knew me, soaring through the skies and some poor citizen caught a sight of a ridiculously dressed girl with a yoyo." She teased as he pulled her back up into a standing position. "Anyway. Patrol or talk?"
Chat Noir hummed. "It's quiet tonight, peaceful. I propose talk."
Ladybug smiled blissfully. "Yeah. I suppose nobody would be sad or angry this time of year - at least, not until a spoiled little brat doesn't get what he wants."
His glowing green eyes glanced up at her. "This time of year?"
She giggled. "Christmas, chaton!" Nudging him with her arm, she shook her head in amusement. "You can't have forgotten."
He blinked. "Ah. Yes, well, I'm not much of a Christmas person myself."
"Hum~bug!" She sang out, laughing in her melodic tone into the night air. "How can you not like Christmas? Sure, I know that some people don't have the best times with their families, but the magic in the air and the feeling," she paused to take in a deep breath through her nose, "that feeling is something that I could only wish to have all year round. It's like, the best part of Christmas."
While she ranted on about the holiday and why it was so fantastic, Chat Noir regarded her. She was a lot more loose with her actions and words, very relaxed. She hadn't even asked "are you sure?" when he chose to talk like she normally did. Tonight she was... loud and joyful and willing to go along with his romantic gestures.
She leaned her head on his shoulder, telling stories about past Christmas' with her family.
Maybe... maybe Christmas wasn't as bad as he thought it was if it could warm his lady's heart.
