On the first day of Christmas... [Lev Haiba]
My true love gave to me
A partridge in a pear tree
It had just snowed and school had been cancelled due to all the snow. There was at least six inches of snow, probably more in other areas, and the school didn't want anyone coming to school with how cold it was plus the amount of snow and ice that would be on the road.
I had texted Lev earlier asking him if he had heard the news that school was cancelled, but when he didn't text back in 10 minutes, I ended up going back to sleep.
I was woken up a few hours later by someone knocking on the door. I groaned and got up, wrapping a blanket around me and shoving my feet into some slippers to keep my feet warm. I was the only one home as everyone else either still had work or had other plans, so I would have to open the door.
I walked over to the front door and opened it. Standing in front of me was my boyfriend Lev. He was a year younger than me and we had been dating since he graduated from junior high. He lived at the end of the street.
I stared at Lev for a few seconds, still a little sleepy, before I opened the door wider and let him in. I murmured a greeting to him and shut the door when he got inside.
He took his hat and gloves off and then his coat and put it on the coatrack, putting his hat and gloves in the pocket. He then took his shoes off and put it below his coat. I watched him do all this quietly, not having processed even being awake yet.
"You didn't text me back an hour ago when I replied to you." Lev whined slightly and pouted.
I hugged him and nuzzled my face into his chest. "Mm. Sorry. I fell asleep after I texted you."
Lev hugged me back and grinned happily. "It's okay!" He said. "Did I wake you up?" He asked.
I nodded and shrugged. "It's okay though. It was about time for me to get up anyways." I said.
Lev huffed and nuzzled the top of my head. "Are you still tired?" He asked me.
I shook my head as I yawned. "Nah. We can do something. Want to build a snowman outside?" I asked him and looked at him.
Lev grinned happily and cheered. He really was like a child. "Yes! Quickly, get dressed!" He said and started gently pushing me in the direction of my room.
I chuckled and walked to my room. "Okay, okay. Look in the closet for some hat and gloves and a scarf we can put on the snowman." I told him as I shut the door to my room to get dressed.
I quickly got dressed and made sure to layer up so I wouldn't get cold or sick. As soon as I finished, Lev burst into the room, holding what I had asked him to get. "Let's go, let's go!" He said.
I waved a hand at him to motion to him to calm down and walked out of my room. "I still need to put my snow boots on." I told him.
He quickly walked over to the door and stood there, impatiently waiting. His green eyes watched me like a hawk as I slipped my snow boots on and zipped them up.
"Okay, okay. We can go now. Calm down." I told him and chuckled. I held one of his hands and opened the door with my other hand.
He quickly rushed outside, pulling me along with him. I barely had enough time to close the door behind us.
He led me over to a pile of snow and looked at me excitedly. "I used to make snowmen all the time with my sister when I was younger." He told me.
"That's cool. I tried to make them and usually failed." I said with a chuckle as I started rolling some snow together to create the base of the snowman.
After I made the base of the snowman, Lev helped me with making the middle part and the head of it. We stepped back and admired our work.
"I think it looks good." I told him. "We just need to put the hat and scarf on it and find sticks for its arms and put gloves on it."
Lev nodded. "I'll go find some sticks!" He said and rushed off to a nearby tree. I sighed and chuckled softly. I wouldn't want anyone else to be my boyfriend.
