Finally, They Talk
"He's-" Zilla stood up and curtsied to the suitor who had been reading poetry to her. The maid who had informed her was right behind her as Zilla excused herself from the room and headed towards Sans room. "Zilla, can we speak?" Karla asked, stopping Zilla. "Can it wait mother?" Karla frowned. "No. It cannot." Zilla sighed and gave her mother her attention. "You have not lost sight of your goal, have you?" Zilla looked confused, not seeing how this was important. "Of course not, but 115 saved my life. I owe him thanks at least."
"It is his job as a lowly sentry to protect our family. No thanks is necessary. Besides, he may not even be awake."
"Actually, M'lady, I received news that 115 is alive and well, even preparing to return to the other bachelor's as we speak." Lora informed. "What." Zilla gathered her dress in her hands and started back on her way. She wanted to speak with Sans while she had the chance to talk with him alone. She wanted to thank him whether it was his job or not, he deserved it... and an explanation. Zilla gasped as she bumped into someone.

"you ok there, zilla?" Sans asked as she looked at him. "Sans! You are awake, that's wonderful!" He felt a blue hue come to his cheekbones. He was caught off-guard, hearing her call him by his name... which meant... "so ya finally remembered me, eh?" Zilla ducked away, rubbing her skull bashfully. "Ah.. yes. I, um, I wanted to thank you, Sans. F-for saving my life..." She wasn't expecting to be called out. "it's no prob. can't let my bestie die." He winked and smiled at her, making her feel relaxed and almost carefree herself. "Heheh, I apologize for... not being there. My mother wanted me home to "learn the way of the woman"." She quoted. "really? your mom is a real peach, ya know?" Zilla chuckled as they started to walk. "Yeah. Everybody loves her." She replied sarcastically, knowing full well that her mom could be a pain if she wanted to be. She just didn't know how far her mother would go. "How are you doing anyway, Sans? You looked pretty bad when it happened. They said you wouldn't make it.." Sans shot her another award-winning smile. "i was born with low stats, but i'm good. no more fever or nothing. how about you?"

Before Zilla could respond, a few other bachelors barged in and booted Sans out. He was fine with that. He finally got the conversation he wanted. Granted, he wanted to talk with her more, but he got his answer. He could go home happy. Zilla could get the bachelor she always wanted, live her happily ever after with as someone else's wife. Was he jealous? Definitely. But he knew he was never gonna win. He had all the cards against him. She didn't even want him. Now was the perfect time to back out. Sans started heading to his room to pack. He stopped. Was this gonna be his life forever? Running away? Playing it safe? What was his life before this? Eat, sleep, and work? He remembered how surprised and happy Papyrus had been when he said he was gonna go 'fight' for Zilla. His dad's teasing voice when Sans got better after saving Zilla. And he couldn't just let Karla free after she tried to kill him twice. Why not stay awhile and expose her at least? Why not see this to the end?
