I was still thinking about what I just said- I was embarrassed that I just flirted with Shawn. I was trying to cover it up because I am still scared about what might happen. Last year was pretty terrible and it was all because of boys. THE boys. 

''Hey, Katherine. Are you okay?'' Shawn said with a little discomfort in his voice. I must have looked worried. Because I was.

''Umm. Excuse me'' I said while rushing away from Chrissy and Shawn. We were still queuing to get lunch but my hunger disappeared when I thought about the events that happened last year. I saw how Chrissy read my facial expression and immediately know what was coursing through my mind. 

''Wait. Kath!'' Shawn shouted but I didn't stop. Especially not after I heard that nickname. I was trying so hard to forget it and everyhing that came along with it, and yet I was now in an extremelly similar situation like the one I was in last year and that was the last thing I needed or wanted right now. I couldn't help but crave some alone time for a little while, which is why I began running towards my secret place just right outside school. I'd always go there when I needed to think. I was just exiting the school gates when someone unexpectedly touched my shoulder. 

Naturally I screamed.

''Whoa, calm down. Hey, it's just me'' Shawn said with a reassuring voice.

''No. I need to leave'' I said worriedly

''Hey. It's okay. You don't have to worry about this flirting back thing. I get it. You don't like me and that's cool.'''

''Shawn, you don't know anything. That's exactly why I needed to leave. Don't you get understand. The reason I left is precisely because I'm beginning to like you!'' 

He looked surprised but confused. 

Shawn's point of view

What does she mean? If people like each other then they stay together- they don't run away. But I can't judge her. She must have faced something that made her do this. She looks really worried. Her breath was uneven because she was running. Her cheeks were red and she just looked...so beautiful. I was overwhelmed by her beauty and the fact that she just said she likes me back so I  just grabbed her face and looked straight into her clear blue eyes. She looked hurt and all I wanted to do is make it go away.  

Katherine's point of view

Gosh, his hazel brown eyes mixed with the color of honey were so beautiful. All I really wanted is to just hug him and pretend nothing happened last year. But no matter how much I wish that. I simply cannot. I can't let neither me nor Shawn go through something like that. 

So I just backed away and said 

''Sorry. I really am. I just can't''

Shawn's point of view

She really looked like she could use some alone time and I didn't want to pressure her so I just let her go and went back to Chrissy.

''Hey. Is Katherine okay?'' Chrissy said with an uneasy tone in her voice

''I really don't know. She seemed hurt. I wanted to help her but she wouldn't let me''

''I understand her. She just needs to be alone for a little while. You''ll get to know her soon. Don't worry'' Chrissy said and gave me a comforting smile but all I could think about is Kath and where she went. What happened to her and what made her hurt like this. Was it me? Did I do something wrong? I really felt the need to talk it all out with her and help her with what I can, which is what made me deadly assertive and ready to do whatever it takes to make her happy again

''I want her number! AND her house address'' 

She seemed shocked and when I heard myself say those words out loud I understood her completely. I guess I suddenly became overprotective over Kath, for a reason I cannot pinpoint directly

''And what makes you think I'm just gonna give it to you? You met her literally...today. Like hours ago. I can't trust you that easily.'''

''Listen, all I want is to help Kath-''

''DON'T call her that. She doesn't like it''

I did not understand how and why someone would be so hurt over a nickname but I just let it be for the time being. 

"Chrissy, please listen to me, I really want to understand her and whatever it is that made her hurt and turn that into something positive- make her happy.''

She still looked a little bit suspicious

 ''Just let me prove myself'' I begged and then I saw Chrissy smiling a little bit

''You're really stubborn, you know that...''She laughed a little bit but then turned serious and said ''...but you're trying to help my best friend, and I can tell that you're a noble guy, and to be honest, she needs one right now, after what happened last year, so...''

I didn't quite get what she meant by that but I kept listening to try and find out more

''...here is her number and I'm gonna text you the address. But go there after her parents are asleep. Otherwise, you're gonna be in a lot of trouble.''

''Thank you! Thank you so much'' I said smiling and began thinking about the adventure that was about to happen tonight...

Getting there, guys. The fun is just about to begin ;)

P.S I woke up to 45 reads! Thank you! I know it might seem little to some of you but thinking about the fact that 45 people are interested in my story makes me very excited

P.S 2 Now you know how Katherine looks- thought it might be useful when trying to imagine the characters. Soon we will see Chrissy as well. Just hang in there ;)
