1. Everyone Lives

Warning: Spoilers ...duh.

Death. It's one of the most well known factors in the circle of life. And it moves us all inside. Blah, blah, blah, Lion King junk.  You're born, you live, and then you die. Simple. Easy. People mourn. And then it's done.

But for some reason a lot of shows seem to think there's another phase in the circle of life -- that is coming back from the dead. Arrowverse has become one of these shows.

At first I didn't mind. It hadn't been that annoying until recently. Until I realized it was happening nearly every time someone supposedly died. I could live with Oliver and Sara's thing for the first two seasons, and I could even somewhat deal with Laurel bringing Sara back from the dead via Lazrus Pit....But then they keep doing it. Digg's brother (I know he dies again later but still!), Damien Darhk, Ray Palmer, Malcolm Merlyn, Reverse Flash, Laurel and Leonard (kind of) It's a never ending cycle of boredom and cliche.

I don't care if there's magic in this universe, it's my not so humble opinion that when you're dead...you're dead. That's it. No coming back. No second chances. You're done. When a character comes back from the dead it ruins the effect of the death scene, ruins the sacrifice if they've made one. There's no meaning. At least it does for me.

Say if Earth One Len comes back. His destroying the Oculus and saving the Legends will have meant nothing, because the sacrifice will have technically not been made. It's just a useless, pointless thing to have happened. (I know I brought him back for my Legend Kids stuff, but that's not the point! I'm a hypocrite. )

Or if Stein comes back that whole heart wrenching scene with Jax and the Professor will have been a huge waste of time. Plus, it'd probably piss a lot of people off.

And in my opinion it's kind of the same thing when using other dimensions, too. Although I've grown fond of Leo and Earth 2 Laurel is okay, it's a bit of a tease. A dick move. It's like dangling a piece of the real characters in our faces and then snatching it all away again.

I know some of them have stayed dead (for the most part) like Ronnie (kinda) and Eddie (even though his death was pointless.) And Stein is probably going to stay dead. But for the most part everyone comes back from the dead at some point. Which is basically just saying death is irrelevant. Which it isn't. We all will have to deal with it at some point, and in real life our loved ones won't come back.

The idea is just so completely unrealistic and boring that I lose a little interest in the shows every time. For instance, when Kara's mother was found secretly living on another planet somehow having miraculously survived the fall of Krypton...

For the last few seasons it has been common knowledge that Kara and Clark were the only ones left from their planet. They were the only ones put in the pods and rescued. But more and more Kryptonians keep appearing. More and more family members are revealed to be...not dead. I mean what's next? Is Henry and Nora Allen going to rise from their graves? (Though, I guess Henry kinda did already with Earth 3 Jay Garrick...) Are Robert and Moria Queen coming back? Miranda and Jonas? The rest of J'onn's family?

The same could be said for J'onn and his dad. (And Ronnie Raymond as well I suppose) If you're going to bring them back just to kill them off again...Then, what's the point? You're just wasting screen time.

And since I keep calling it cliche, I'll explain that here as well. I can't count how many shows I've found on Netflix with the same plot -- so and so is dead, but suddenly they come back. It's getting very boring. The only exception to the "don't come back from the dead" rule should be Harry Potter. He's the boy who lived. He's the only one allowed to do that. So, if you're name isn't JK Rowling....stop it.

We need grief. We need sadness. We need the characters to feel pain, so that we may better relate to them. We need their souls to be crushed. We want to feel our own hearts break from their agony. It's no fun if nothing bad ever actually happens. We can't be sad about their deaths, because "oh they'll probably be back next season" We don't feel any sort of emotion this way. And as I've said, it gets pretty boring.

So, on the off chance that the cw writers are reading this pathetic thing, please knock it off, at least for Arrowverse. It's annoying. It's cliche. Just let it be sad. Let them stay dead. We can take it. I promise.
