54.My light #1
Stepping forward, you took a deep breath and walked on the stage.
Not much students cheered for you. They were all just your bullies and you convinced yourself that your parents would always be with you.
Receiving your certificate, you got off the stage and sighed.
"End of university life" you mumbled to yourself as you saw your only friend waving her hand to you.
Smiling a little, you walked towards her.
She's Jeon Jungkook's sister. Your crush, Jeon Jungkook. Also your bully.
Getting hurt by the person you love the most can be your worst nightmare. But you were living that nightmare everyday.
You keep telling yourself that everything is going to be okay.
By the way, you've not yet lost your first kiss.
"Y/n-ah" Somi, Jungkook's younger twin sister, said as she walked towards you.
"Let's have dinner at a restaurant" she cheered and pulled your hands, and on her other hand, she was pulling her brother.
Helpless, you followed her with another sigh escaping your lips.
On reaching a pojanmacha, Somi ordered almost everything you could get there.
"Somi, I don't have enough money" you low-key said to her, but looks like she couldn't hear. She continued eating as Jungkook was talking with someone on the phone outside.
Water was boiling on the ramen bowl placed on the induction plate.
Without eating anything, you just stared at blank space.
Somi's pov
I looked back at her and rolled my eyes.
Scoffing discreetly, I glared at her.
'What is she thinking. That I'd let her crush on my brother'
Rolling my eyes once again, I put my right hand inside the boiling water.
Noticing this, Y/n turned towards me.
"Yah! What are you doing?" she asked while trying to pull my hand out.
As she took my hand out, I put my left hand in the water again.
I screamed in pain and Jungkook oppa got in while panicking.
"What happened?" he asked as fake tears rolled down my eyes.
"Y-Y/n, put my hand inside the water" I faked a sob and I saw his eyes going red with anger.
"W-What? W-When did I-" her words were cut off by a slap on her cheek.
She just got slapped by her crush.
Standing behind Jungkook oppa, I smirked as she held her stinging cheek.
"Don't you dare say a word" Jungkook oppa growled while holding my wrist and pulling me outside the tent.
Jungkook's pov
My eyes were filled with anger and sadness at the same time as I kept walking.
I was angry that she hurt my sister. And sad because it was the girl I love.
I bullied Y/n because I love her. She was introverted. I made Somi befriend her so that I can get a bit close to her.
And I continued my bullying because I wanted her attention only on me.
But I didn't expect the girl I loved to be a person of this kind.
I made Somi sit on a park bench and made a call to my driver to pick us up.
Done with the call, I sat beside Somi. And it was obvious that she noticed how hurt I was.
"I know that you liked her, oppa" she told softly. "Even I didn't think that she'd be like this" she said lowly.
Not talking anything, I took her hand and examined the burn marks.
"How did she do this?" I asked while being careful to not hurt her.
"I was eating and she suddenly took my hand and put it in the boiling water" she said, her breathing changed a little and I nodded.
"You could've called for me immediately" I said and saw her face going hesitant. "How did she manage to put in both of your hands?" I asked.
"Ah, t-that....I took out my right hand and s-she put my other hand in" she stuttered with a stiff posture.
"I was eating at first and then s-she suddenly moved forward a-and-" she halted on her own words as I stared at her intensely.
"Somi, don't lie to me" I said in a deep voice and she gulped.
I let out a little laugh in disbelief while placing my hand on my forehead.
"I'm sorry, oppa" Somi said with a rather stubborn face. "I didn't like that slut-"

Your pov
Paying the bills with whatever I had, I started walking away.
My feet hurt as tears rolled down my eyes.
"Why? Just, why me?" I asked myself as I walked down the alleyway while sobbing.
My only friend, betrayed me. And my crush slapped me.
Jungkook could've bullied me. But he only kept playing pranks on me, asking me to do his works, and teasing me.
But he never did something like this. In fact, no one ever hit me. Because I have no one to do that.
As I reached my house, I saw the owner of the house throwing my bags out.
"There you are! Get out of this house!" the owner yelled. "You didn't pay rent for two whole months. And I'm not going to let you stay in this house after this" he yelled again.
"Mr.K-Kim, please give me some time, I-I'll get a job and-" my words halted as he locked the house door and started walking away.
Tears streamed down my eyes again as I picked up the suitcase which was the only bag I had.
The owner's wife gave me an apologizing look.
"I've already packed all your things in the bag" she said and walked away.
Suddenly, thunder rumbled and raindrops started to fall slowly.
My lips quivered as I picked up my bag and the rain started to pour more heavily.
Thunder rumbled through the dark sky once again and I flinched, my astraphobia was kicking in.
Somi was the only person I had contact with. And now, I can't go to her too.
I walked where my feet kept dragging me.
Suddenly, I felt someone pull my wrist.
Before I could scream for help, the hand pushed me on the concrete pavement.
The middle aged man walked towards me and I crawled back on the floor until I felt the wall.
Turning my head back a little, I faced him again.
"P-Please-" my words stopped as he suddenly crouched down in front of me.
The alleyway was dark and the rain was making it impossible for anyone to hear me.
One of his hands covered my mouth as I tried pushing him away.
My screams got muffled as he pushed his hand more tighter against my mouth.
"Shut up" he growled and pulled my hair at the back.
He was about to reach for the hem of my shirt, but he suddenly stopped.
Letting out a painful groan, the man held the back of his head while turning around the the guy who just hit him.
Walking forward, the guy punched the man's face.
I kept sniffling continuously as the guy kept hitting that idiot continuously.
"Y-You'll kill him. Stop-" I halted on my own words while flinching as a loud thunder was heard.
The guy walked towards me.
"Are you okay?" he asked and I nodded while sniffling a little.
A few moments later, police sirens were heard along with the shattering sound of the rain.
"Tell me where your house is. I can drop you there" the man offered me politely.
"I d-don't have anywhere to go" I said and sniffled again at the end.
Author's pov
"I'm Hoseok. Jung Hoseok" the man said and your mouth performed an 'o'.
"I'm Wang Y/n" you said and Hoseok smiled like a sunshine.
Opening the door to his house, Hoseok led you in.
"What if your family is not c-comfortable with me?" you asked timidly.
"Don't worry, my parents are in heaven. I live here alone and my elder sister lives in the next house" Hobi said and gave a cute smile to you reassuringly.
Walking you to a room, he told that you can get changed and sleep.
"Thank you" you said while Hoseok was about to exit the room.
Smiling like a sunshine, he nodded.
Turning off the lights in the bedroom, Hobi left the room, closing the door.
And little did you know that he was going to be your light in this dark world.
Don't allow someone to treat you poorly just because you love them.
A/n
Bullying is not a joke. It should not be taken lightly. It has horrendous effects on young individuals and their families. If you are being bullied: tell them to stop, get away from the situation, and tell a trusted adult. Do the same if you see someone else being bullied. Be an upstander. If they don't like you for being yourself, be yourself even more.
It is never about a woman walking late at night, like people say; it's not 'protecting our daughters.' It's about educating our sons. If this is what we're going to keep saying, 'dangerous for girls,' the world's never going to change. Not only women; people of all the other sexes are being harassed too. What we call 'protecting,' locking them up and stripping away their freedom is like burning a house down for the fear of a rat living in it. Today we're able to defend ourselves, taking small but powerful steps, we support the LGBTQ+ community. That's the bright side. I agree that the highest possibility is at night. As someone who's been through the same myself, I've learned that it can happen in accordance with any time of the day. Male or female or non-binary, you're not a victim because you've shared your story. You're a survivor, setting the world on fire. And you never know who would need your warmth.
