For some of the fights in RWBY, Luna and Shawcross drew out rough sketches of where the characters should move and the landscape. Oum then choose which he liked and went from there. In other instances Luna and Shawcross just told Oum where the fight took place, how it started, and who won, Oum then made the rest up.
