"I was only using you as a reason to hold myself back," Jennifer hurriedly brushed away her tears with unsteady fingers, sucking in a shaky breath. "The reason to stay in this godforsaken town. To idly watch as my friends left me behind." She stared down at the overgrown grass beneath her navy converse, fighting the bittersweet memories of days long past and her desperate wishes that mistakes could be rewritten. "I have to leave. I can't even breathe. I have to try." Jennifer gently pressed her lips to the cold marble headstone, and with a stumble, she walked away.
